Little Rock Air Force Base (AFB) Housing and Information:
Location: Little Rock Air Force Base is located in Pulaski County in Central Arkansas. The city of Jacksonville is located just outside the front gate of the base. The warm relationship between Jacksonville and the base dates back to the early 1950s when the local citizens banded together to purchase the land for the base, which they donated to the Air Force. Arkansas’ capital, Little Rock is located 17 miles southwest of the base. Little Rock AFB is home of the 19th Airlift Wing. Little Rock AFB consists of more than 6,000 acres and one runway.

Schools: Arnold Elementary belongs to the newly developed Jacksonville School District and provides for PreK-5th grades. Previously, it fell under the Pulaski County Special School district since it opened in the late 50s. In 2010, Arnold Elementary was designated National Blue Ribbon School (1 of 4 in state, 180 across U.S.). This program recognizes public and private schools based on overall academic excellence or progress in closing achievement gaps. Flightline Upper Academy School opened in 2011, and is one of the first on an Air Force Base. There can be a wait list depending on PCS season, but it is available to all who are selected and qualify for access to the base. It caters to 5th-8th graders.

Jacksonville/LRAFB University Center: This is a joint venture between the city of Jacksonville and the base, in which the city of Jacksonville provided part of the construction costs and the base provided the rest for a total of $15 million. It is a community building, providing educational opportunities to the local community as well as the military population. It houses six universities, offering AAs - Masters, 29 classrooms, two science labs and the base Education Office. Although on government property, it is not behind the secure gates of the base, allowing easy access for those who do not otherwise have access to the base.
Airman and Family Readiness Center: The Airman and Family Readiness Center (A & FRC) offers proactive, preventative, and remedial services that foster self-resilience and sustain the personal and family readiness off the Total Force.
