Vance Air Force Base (AFB) Housing and Information:

Location: Home of the 71st Flying Training Wing, Vance Air Force Base, Oklahoma is located in Garfield County, 5 miles south of Enid and approximately 94 miles northwest of Oklahoma City. The mission of the 71st Flying Training Wing is to develop professional Airmen, deliver world-class pilots and deploy combat-ready warriors. In 1960, Vance was selected by the Air Force as part of an extended experiment in contract services. Under this plan, a civilian contractor furnishes the support facilities normally provided by base agencies.

Area Population: Enid Metro Area's population is 57,657

Schools: No DoDDS schools. Most preschool and elementary-age children living on base attend Eisenhower Elementary School which is located inside the base gate but belongs to Enid Public Schools. There are multiple education options, including three area public school districts, four private elementary schools, and one private middle/high school.

Housing: Family Housing at Vance is privatized, managed by Hunt Military Housing and includes 2,3, and 4 bedroom units, available for all ranks. Call the Family Housing Office at 580-234-0498. Military members married to another military member (MIL-to-MIL) in grades E1 through E3 and E4 with less than 3 years of service when geographically separated and not accompanied by family members must reside in the dorms.
