Coast Guard Traverse City (CG) Housing and Information:
Location: USCG Air Station Traverse City is located at 1175 Airport Access Rd, Traverse City, Mi 49686, at the southern end of Grand Traverse Bay in northern Michigan at the Cherry Capital Airport.
Traverse City is located in the northwestern corner of Michigan's lower peninsula. Our Air Station is situated at Cherry Capitol Airport on the east side of Traverse City. The station's physical plant consists of: a spacious hangar; public works building; supply offices and warehouse; a small Coast Guard Exchange; a medical and dental clinic; and Smith Hall, which houses a galley, lounges, and sleeping areas for 24 hour duty crews. There is also several athletic fields, three tennis courts, and a small picnic area and playground.
CG Air Station Traverse City Housing: Military housing at Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City is not available. Coast Guard personnel stationed in the area generally live off-base in Traverse City.
In April of 1995, Air Station Traverse City gained operational responsibility for what was CG Air Station Chicago. Renamed CG Air Facility Glenview, this station is located in Glenview, Illinois and consists of a multipurpose hangar and office facility and a public works building. Air Facility Glenview stages one of Air Station Traverse City's HH-65A helicopters with two full crews during the busy search and rescue season from April through mid-November.
