Ive had 2 kids go through from Kindergarten to graduation and a third almost finished. We have had an exceptional experience with academics, athletics, clubs, staff and administrators. This school system CARES about its students and the community.

We moved to Vestavia Hills in 1997 to qualify our children for the excellent school system. We love Vestavia so much that we still call it home in 2023
Our children graduated with honors from Auburn University many years ago and have located out of Alabama in areas with greater opportunity. My children received the best education possible in Vestavia schools. They were well prepared for college and beyond.

I am an upcoming sophomore and I could not be happier with VHHS! The teachers truly care about their jobs and the students. thank you VHHS teachers!!

So hopeful coming into the freshman center this year. Pizitz was good. West was excellent. The freshman center was dealt a bad hand with covid. However, once they were back in school the students were still using Edgenuity and learning on line themselves. Math was normal. Science was taught by Edgenuity but the tests had materials not covered EVERY time. As parents we were dismissed, promised help (never materialized) and made plans with teachers, counselors and even the assistant principal that never happened. My person left this year feeling frustrated, disappointed and most importantly angry at the early life lesson that life is not fair and that nepotism rules at VHHS.

Homework should be practice, but instead it is the students going home and trying to learn the material on their own.

There are a few decent teachers, but overall the teachers do not care if the students understand the material, and some of them are not even teaching. My child would be better off with a book learning on his own in some cases instead of spending eight hours at a school that teaches him nothing. Oh, and for science, she doesn't even have a book. How can you have a science class with no text?

This school "randomly" drug tests , but it is typically the kids they know will pass. The favored athletes and students are never even tested and they should be. The students are not compassionate at all to those who are underprivileged or even just different.

The administration is typically responsive, but it does not seem that they are monitoring how effective the teachers are.

Our overall experience with Vestavia Hills High School has been a complete letdown so far. We came to this school expecting excellent academics due to the high ratings it receives. The teachers really do not care at all about whether the kids are learning or not and they do not self-reflect when they see that most of the kids are struggling in a class. Obviously, the administration is not keeping a close eye on the teachers and their methods either. There seems to be no support or concern at the teacher level for kids who are struggling with family and/or emotional issues. The students are not accepting of people who are different, and I agree with a previous post that there is a lot of drinking, vaping, and even drugs with the kids that go to school here. Overall, it has been a terrible experience for my child.

I am currently a sophomore at this school and all I have to say is that I love it. The teachers are amazing, and are really good at teaching the classes. I also love the support you get from all the teachers and other students. I'm also in band, and I'm glad that we aren't seen as nerds, but as our own class, probably because we've won a great deal of pep rallies. This school is amazing academic and spirit wise.

I am an upcoming Senior at Vestavia and I cannot stand this school. The academics are great, but the people are horrible. It is full of stuck up preps who all they do is drink and smoke. It is very hard to find someone who is faithful in the religion. All you find are people that claim to be Christian and then go out and party on the weekends. If you don't drink or smoke it's very hard to find a group of people to fit in with.
