Prattville Elementary School

I have had 3 children go through this school. Many years ago, (2010-2012) my oldest went through and our experience was not good at all. However, that administration and those teachers are no longer at PES. I have two daughters who were there over the past 4 years and they both had wonderful 3rd & 4th grade experiences. I highly recommend this school and have complete faith in the administration and teachers currently there.

Had a great experience there! Had 2 children there and highly recommend! Changes in staff and Administration has gotten rid of stale attitudes. :)

My son attended 3rd and 4th grade here in 2019-2021. His teachers were great. Gifted program was great. Good communication between teachers and parents especially during the stresses of virtual learning during the pandemic. Faculty is friendly. He rarely had homework. They do have recess and PE everyday.

I recently pulled my child out of this school because I do not approve the actions of the teachers the the school officials. Some of the PES teachers were very unhelpful and negative to my child. Some teachers act very sweet and kind when an adult enters the room, buy after they leave, her tone gets very negative and harsh around only the kids. He tries hard in class, finishing all of his in-class assignments, but still comes home everyday with a new pointless project that take up most of the time at home. Recently he was sent to the principles office with multiple kids. He was yelled at and threatened with a large paddle. My child was traumatized and did not disserve to have this happen. Like most parents would, I pulled him out for a few days. That same weekend we received a message from the school stating if he did not return to school, a guardian of his would need to do physical labor as punishment. After this we officially pulled him out and are doing online lessons and homeschooling. Now from doing homeschool lessons, he is very happy and not as stressed compared to being in PES. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SCHOOL. NEITHER FOR YOUR CHILD OR YOU.

All of my experiences with PES have been positive so far. Great parent-teacher communication, an active parent-teacher organization... All of the reviews had me worried, but it was unfounded. PES, just like PPS and PKS, has far exceeded my expectations.

This school is below average. It's very safe, but your child will get a below average education. The principal is terrible, but the assistant principal is pretty good. There are far too many projects. Projects sound good to administrators, but they are not educational. The projects are nothing more than homework for parents. One project involved heating something in the oven. How absurd is that? There are far too many field trips, some are expensive, and most of them have nothing to do with any curriculum. The secretary can be very rude.

Finally at the end of her 2nd year in this horrible school. 4rth grade teacher is a nightmare bully. I use to volunteer but this teacher asks and asks for me to help out several times a week and I end up grading over a hundred papers for two classes every time. My daughter comes home and tells me about verbal humiliation for class view, she yells at her students constantly, her grades have dropped by two letters, she failed on a test for asking for a highlighter but apparently the teacher requires they highlight their names, I have watched her compare a class that is doing better than them to her class as if the children are all too blame. My daughter came from a very good school that took her education seriously and didn't punish her grades based off of a conduct issue. She was in an accelerated reading program before I made the mistake of putting her in this school. She has been bullied this whole year by this "teacher". Pay for private school, homeschool, or hire a tutor unless you want your once happy and bright child to become miserable while you watch them lose confidence in themselves and any love they once had for going to school.

This is really an overlooked school. I have experienced caring teachers who are always available to my child and me. My son's teacher even lets me call me on her cell phone. Grades are updated daily, and the students are rewarded for good grades and good behavior. I have been very pleased with our year here.
