About MilitaryTownAdvisor.com

Military Family

MilitaryTownAdvisor.com is a PCS relocation resource and military housing site that allows military families to help other military families by writing reviews about military towns. When searching for information about where to live on our military housing site, read reviews about military housing, off base neighborhoods, areas surrounding the base, apartment complexes, condominiums, and schools.

Find military friendly REALTORs through our REALTOR directory. If you see the Military Friendly Logo, you can trust they understand the needs of military families. Due to the fact that the PCS relocation process in a military environment happens quickly, it can be extremely stressful. MilitaryTownAdvisor's on and off base reviews help families make an informed decision on where to begin looking for a place to live that will fit with each family's goals and lifestyle choices.

My Personal Experience

As a military spouse for the last seven years, I have moved across the country several times with the military. I understand the uncertainty and strain that comes with packing up your family and moving to a new town, state or even country. Much of the stress and anxiety begins before you even find out your orders. As newlyweds, my husband and I were stationed in Texas. I was new to military life and the only information I knew was that we were either going to a base on the East or the West Coast. I immediately began researching both coasts and attempting to gather as much information as possible. I quickly learned that the majority of information that can be found on the internet about towns and areas are tourist guides and statistics about the demographics of the area. There was not easily accessible information about other military families, where they live, what schools they went to, where they like to spend their time off base, etc. I ended up discouraged and resigned to the fact that I could not go any further in my research until we received our orders.

When we received our next orders and flew to the East Coast and spent seven days looking for a place to live. We explored the town like a tourist to see what it had to offer, we tried to talk to other military families to see what they suggested, and we wanted to buy a house all in a week's time frame. Needless to say, we were extremely nervous about picking a house in the right area. Luckily we found a house in a great area, close to the base, with good school districts; however, this was not the outcome for many of our fellow military families. Some of our new friends chose homes far from base where it may have been more cost effective, but they ended up regretting being so far from the activities that are centered around the base. Also, others chose neighborhoods that were close to the base but did not end up feeling safe in those areas, especially during deployments. As each new family told me their story, the concept of MilitaryTownAdvisor.com was born. I knew that military families were the best resource for other military families. I understand the uncertainty and fear that can come with a quick move to a new part of the country, the lack of readily available information, and the need for each of us to be able to learn from each others' missteps and successes.

Why Use This Site?

MilitaryTownAdvisor.com understands the needs of military families and, through our review process, a family can find a safe area to call home. In general, military moves are different than a typical move. There is less time to plan, a different buying style based on the fact that a family knows that they will more than likely move again, and challenges with finding the right home within the right proximity to the base. Whether a family is looking to rent or own their home, a nice home in a safe area that suits their lifestyle is a must. This site is meant to supplement the knowledge of a REALTOR; it is a resource to be used to take the anxiety away both before and during the moving process.

Our "Pay It Forward" Approach

The philosophy behind this site is the "pay it forward" method which calls for a person to do a good deed for someone else asking for no payment in return, but instead for that person to "pay it forward" to someone else. By following this method, MilitaryTownAdvisor.com allows military families to help other military families by providing information and insight about the town they currently live in or a previous stop on their military journey. For example, a family that has lived in Pensacola, FL and Virginia Beach, VA would write reviews of the schools, local points of interest, neighborhoods, and areas they lived in. When this family has orders come to move to Jacksonville, FL, they will search the site and find reviews posted by families that live or have lived in Jacksonville. Making an informed decision with information you can trust is half the battle. At MilitaryTownAdvisor.com, we are dedicated to making sure you have this information. We realize your time and knowledge is valuable so we offer an incentive program for writing reviews. Help out your fellow military families and "pay it forward" by writing a review today!

Military Spouses: Over-Educated And Under-Utilized!

The success of this site is dependent upon people helping people. Within that same philosophy, I recognize that military spouses are often over-educated and under-utilized. It is often difficult to have a career when you are not sure when your next set of orders will come through. As this site grows, there is a potential for roles such as Military Town "experts", photographers, and Military Town "ambassadors" to partner with local businesses, as well as, military spouses who are real estate agents. We are hiring military spouses as promtion and sales representatives, please email info@militarytownadvisor.com if you are interested!

Military Friendly Reators

PCSing and house hunting can happen extremely quickly and it's hard to find a realtor who truly understands the needs of a military family. Search our military friendly REALTOR directory to find military friendly realtors. Realtors with the logo are realtors who are military spouses, Veterans, or realtors who have military clients who have personally recommended them. Realtors can NOT purchase the logo, it must be earned through referrals. This way you can trust the realtor truly understands the needs of a military family.
