If you are moving to Prattville Alabama, I would not recommend putting your kids into this school. This school is the worst I have ever seen in my 56 years of living. (I have sent all of my kids to these schools)

(REASONS WHY)

First off, The Students that go to this school are terrible they have brought guns, drugs and they will fight for no apparent reason and the staff doesn't even put an end to it they just let them fight it out until it gets too "Serious" and this is a major safety issue. For example, my child got punched in the face by another child and this child told him if he told someone he's gonna stab him, and my child told a teacher and they didn't even do anything about it...

Second, These teachers have horrible attitudes toward the students and parents and they will also antagonize your kids. Don't get me wrong some of these teachers are fantastic but it's just a few teachers that will send kids to ISS for getting up to throw trash, or ask to go to the bathroom, etc...

I have been to many schools throughout my life because my father was in the Air Force and this is the worst school I have ever seen. Yeah, I understand that there will be fights but we used to just laugh it off like it was nothing and enjoy the rest of our day, but these students have no respect.

(I'm not going to name any teachers but they will know who they are please whatever you do; do not send your child to this school)

To anyone looking to put your child in this school do not look at the other reviews as they are probably mad that there student got into trouble and were salty. I’m a former student at this school went my 7th and 8th grade years some of the best years in my school career. I see people talk about athletes are treated different when that in fact is farther than the truth athletes were held to a high standard, so if they got into any trouble they would be lenient on them. I was an athlete at the school, not one of the best but still an athlete for multiple sports and when I did something wrong I was punished at the max just like all the other athletes. I also see people talking about all they did was focus on sports, this is not the only thing. They focused on clubs such as robotics, band, theater, and choir. They also did things for kids who didn’t care for clubs and sports and were more focused on their grades by throwing them parties to celebrate. The teachers here are amazing a few super strict (lol). Without going here and don’t think I would’ve reached the success I did in high school to graduate. Again amazing school. Don’t believe everything your kids say. Once a PJHS Cat always a PJHS Cat! Respect, resourcefulness, and responsibility are 3 things they instilled in me as they preached and taught it everyday!

My experience at this school as been HORRIBLE. The amount of RACIST comments I have endured is RIDICULOUS. The school does NOTHING the discipline these kids, the most they get is a slap on the wrist. Please NO NOT take your kids here! The children here are extremely disrespectful towards staff and peers. School restrooms are EXTREMELY disgusting, faculty clearly doesn’t put money towards things that really matter. The school board has a clear BIAS towards athletes, as they have no repercussions for ANY bad behavior. My peers VAPE and SMOKE; in the RESTROOMS, CLASS, and BUSES. Certain parts of the school reek because of how many people vape in these areas. In conclusion, if you care about your child’s mental wellbeing please do not take them here.

I went to open house and the principals didn't have their bullhorns in the hallways. They should let the parents see how our children are really treated. Don't be fake. I've seen them yell at students through the bullhorns while changing classes.

I don't agree with them being all about sports. Just because players are good at a sport, there still should be consequences for their actions. Things are covered up too much.

Terrible. Kids are punished for drinking water during class but yelled at through a megaphone between classes if they stop for water. They are punished for defending themselves. A consistent honor roll child can't be eligible for rewards if they make one mistake. Staff makes excuses. Says they test well. The school is a B rated school. Barely better than mediocre but won't listen to a parent expressing their concerns. I sent a well educated, athletic, happy child to PJHS. I now have a thuggish, sluggish, disenfranchised child that has given up. Mediocre is a generous score for this school. Discipline is priority over education and an environment friendly for learning. Most ineffective administration I have ever encountered. The 8th grade principal takes a solid interest in the kids so I feel compelled to compliment his work with students but the principal and 7th grade principal are clearly comfortable running a mediocre prison system that crushes the spirit of good kids.

This school is focusing primarily on fundraising and pep rallies. Very little attention is dedicated to the students` academic needs. The principal is very ineffective.

Worst School we have ever attended! Kids are treated like cattle being yelled at with a bullhorn. Teacher are hard to contact and didn't return calls or emails. Principal is a joke-spend most time posting on Instagram! More fights then even the high school. They worry about spending money on sign and not provide math books or computer for classrooms. DON'T send your kid here!

Lots of yelling, one administrator uses a bullhorn to yell at kids daily and is very rude to both students and parents, very unpleasant atmosphere. My kids hate going to school there!! We are pulling both of our kids and going to private. I would not recommend this school to anyone. We came from another state where my kids actually enjoyed going to school. Can't wait to see them actually excited about going to school again.

Military family who has had two children in PJHS. Awesome staff, great experience both academically and athletically. Definitely the best overall experience available in the River Region. School pride is unmatched!

HEED ALL THESE WARNINGS!!!! This is the worst school. My Son had been MAJOR BULLIED in 7th grade and 8th grade. The old principle in 7th grade had taken care of the student that was bulling him in 7th grade . Since the new principle started her reign in his 8th grade year. The bully situation didn't stop, instead it intensified. On the bus and on school campus.. I tried to get him to handle the situation himself but the teachers and principle just DID NOT CARE. It seems that they don't want to be bothered. And I as a parent take this seriously. My son never bothered anyone. He is a avid reader and as long as he had something to read he stayed to himself. With the exception of a few friends that he had hung out with. He was in all Honors classes. But he also was not into sports, and they are all about the sports. They just don't care or take time out of their day unless your child is a child of the Autauga County School Board. Then your in the "click". If you care about your child's education that is not effected by bullies then stay clear of this school. We had to move out of state to get him out of that bad situation...

My son has attended both years. There is a new principal and she is doing a good job. I have one problem which is we can not choose our child's teachers. My son is above average, has mediocre teachers who do not challenge him, and homework is not given daily. Too many student teachers. I love love love the way this school handles bullying. To me it seems students are allowed to decide who they are and hang with students who have similar interst without being judged or bullied. I love the fact that the teachers are at the tables. I do have one problem which is thry will not allow them to bring water bottles to school. It us important my son drnks water and after watching first hand how nasty 12, 13, and 14 year olds are with water fountains i dont want him drinking from them.

I am attending PJHS right now and I thoroughly enjoy it. The principal is strict but he does his job. The Band program is amazing. They give a lot of individualized attention when needed. The school offers several clubs including Beta Club, Future Business Leaders of America, Fellowship of Christian Students, and more. They also have several sports including football, boys and girls basketball, girls volleyball, and they also have varsity sports with PHS. I enjoy all of my teachers and most classes. Our school could improve on the funding of the band program as they are not receiving any funding and are relying on students fundraising.

As most of the other reviews have stated, if you are a military family...RUN from this school. Our daughter is in 7th grade. Prior to moving here she was a straight A student, no discipline problems, and very active in sports. I have had to go to the school 5 times in four months to resolve issues. My daughter broke her right-hand at gumnastics, she was told by a teacher that she didn't need help, she could write with her left. The list is a mile long on what we have put up with. Most of the children in the school were born and raised here and treat the military kids coming in as outsiders. This is my daughters 7th school and the first time it has really made me feel that we have done her a disservice. She is so miserable, she begs to stay home daily. I have talked to other military parents in the community and this pretty much the story I got, only a few have had good results from this school. If you can afford it, send your kid to private school or look at Millbrook or Wetumpka. Prattville is not all it said to be.

2/2013 my daughter just started here and she hates it she says kids pick on her friends and she's afraid there going to start picking on her so I'm seriously thinking of puting her in home school.

As a military family we always have the difficult decision of where to send our children for their education. We chose to send our daughter to PJHS and have been pleasantly surprised. We have encountered ZERO bullying within the school. The band program is excellent and through testing, advanced courses are available to students. The teachers eat lunch with the students which I find extraordinary which allows the students to develop stronger relationships with those they interact with on a daily basis. The school does the best it can with the funds available and encourages the children to enter essay contests, music solo and ensemble festivals as well as be active in their community. The private schools don't seem to offer much more for such a high pricetag and I did not want to gamble putting my daughter into the lottery at a magnet school in Montgomery. The new principal seems to have a good handle on his students and faculty. We would not hesitate to send our other children to this school should we get stationed to Maxwell AFB again.

ADMISTRATION IS HORRIBLE!!! my child was an 8th grader at PJHS. My daughter was bullied for MONTHS at school and on the bus!! The 8th grade assistant principal had no interest in me trying to report what was going on!! PLEASE HEED ALL THE REAL PARENT REVIEWS AND STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCHOOL!! I had to stay until the completion of my job but I cant wait to get away from this school and have no interest in sending my children to another Prattville School. I too was lead to believe this was a good school. My child was also harnessed by a teacher and nothing was done! The principal at this school is now the superintendent of the school district so ... there you go! I know there is no hope!! My child had finished her lunch and proceeded to read a book and was told by the teacher who was harassing her to stop reading or she would be wrote up!! WHO DOES THAT! My child stayed in fear everyday she went to school. If by some horrible chance you have to send your child here ( i would highly recommend home schooling vs going to this school) i would keep copies of EVERYTHING being put in your child's school records and move away as soon as possible! I am!!
