I am half deaf and needed a hearing aid. Due to my chronic illness I had to miss multiple days of school but it was no issue as I had a 504 plan allowing me to do so. At the end of the year I had to go fully virtual and I had a great experience with that with the help of the counsellors and the Edgunity coordinator. All of the teachers were very understanding of my disability. Though I like the school there are a lot of fights between students. It is a very sports focused school between football, basketball, baseball, and softball which are all amazing teams and made it to state tournaments. Football winning the championship, baseball being runner up, and basketball and softball both making it to the final four. The only issue I have with the school is the fights. It is a safety hazard to all of us. If a student is hit first and they hit back they will be arrested even if it is self defence which I believe is unfair. The school itself is fun and all of my teachers seem to be relaxed and let students grow. I am in mostly AP courses though so it may be different for general education. In the classes which I’m not AP (science and math) the teachers are still great and take their time with students if they don’t understand things. I know this first hand from my struggles in Algebra l and ll the past two years. I had two different teachers and they were equally great. They both attended Central for highschool and decided to come back and teach. Red devil blood runs deep and school spirit is VERY important. Education and test scores could be better but many students just aren’t good at taking tests. I recommend this school over other high school in the area (Russel County, Smiths Station, Glenwood) due to the school spirit, great administration, communication with parents, test scores, and most definitely sports.

Bullies, mainly principal. Guns at football games. Phenix City Schools are horrible. I had to take my son out. Run.

This school had a lot of favoritism and allowed the athletes to wear short shorts but wrote me up for wearing capris. My future kids will not attend this awful district. I was bullied by a girl and coach stamp did nothing about it.

Teachers work hard. They look for new ways to present information to their students. They are knowledgeable about their subject areas and specialties.

Students are given homework as necessary most of the time. Things that would take up valuable class time that can be easily done without a teacher present like looking up definitions for that week's vocabulary review or reading in preparation for a class discussion the next day.

Students are held accountable for their actions in a way that helps them learn from mistakes. The "book" isn't thrown at a student for a minor mistakes or a one off occurrence. Administrators, teachers, and counselors work to develop an environment of learning not just school related academics, but also about how the world works in general. They encourage students to be the change they want to see in the world.

CHS prepared me for college and my career as a teacher. I am lucky to have had some of the amazing members of the faculty who still teach at CHS. Teachers work hard to help students succeed and grow into real people who thrive in the real world.

Great dual enrollment program where students can leave high school already a sophomore in college. Athletics is unmatched in the area with facilities, coaching, and participation. Every student having a Chromebook next year will set this school apart from all the rest preparing students for jobs of the future.
