The students and teachers deserve a more joyous environment. The current atmosphere created by the sitting principal is punitive and very condescending. Parental involvement would also increase if the principal created a more welcoming environment. The only thing Sherwood is worried about is competing with Lakewood and making an A. Focus on the students and your great staff and you may achieve that status. The top-down approach is not getting better results out of your teachers and students.

The school lacks organization and cohesion. It appears to be in need of funding, evident from the condition of the elementary school stalls and the cafeteria. Breakfast time feels rushed for the children. I've had to make multiple calls and visits to the school for matters that should be handled by the administration. We're looking forward to leaving as soon as the school year is over. No homework sent home for 2nd graders.

My children go here & we love it! Ms. Boutwell taught my daughters for PreK & my youngest daughter got her again when she moved up to Kindergarten! She's an amazing person. Mrs. Williams & Mrs. Chapman in PreK have been so patient with my son & Mrs. Chapman treats us like family. They've taught him so much! Mrs. Williams is a very thoughtful person. Mrs. Vanderboom has been so understanding with my oldest who's in speech therapy & has taught her so much this year, I'm in awe! Everyone is friendly & really makes you feel welcome in the school. This school is one of three reasons why we haven't relocated. I love popping up here & checking on my kids & everyone's so understanding. Meg in the office is as sweet as can be! Coach Rawson was great at distracting my 3 year old during my oldest daughter's speech evaluation. Everyone really goes above & beyond here. Sherwood is a great place to send your kids!

Awesome doesn't even come close to describing the teachers. They deserve so much credit. They go further than just "the second mile" in trying to teach students.

I think the amount of homework is just right. Also, the occasional projects are good too. Our daughter is only in first grade though so I think the level of work is perfectly appropriate for her level.

The staff at Sherwood is very active in making sure students stay on track and conduct themselves in an appropriate manner. Staff regularly patrol the hallways and the Principal is constantly checking in with teachers to see if they need anything.

We love Sherwood so much. The teachers and staff are wonderful. Our daughters learning is awesome. Especially her reading. Her reading ability seems almost off-the-chart. In less than 2 years it's almost like we're all becoming family with the folks at the school. Teachers who don't even teach our daughter recognize and talk to her. I frequently find myself hanging out chit chatting or trying to find a way to help out somehow. All of us have developed wonderful friendships as well. I look forward to our daughter being a part of Sherwood for as long as possible. The only complaint I have is that the school only goes up to 5th grade.

Outstanding! As a military family now in our fourth school in six years we have some experience with elementary education. Sherwood Elementary exceeded even our most demanding expectations for teacher competence/care/involvement, overall administration, and general educational environment. All three of our children are excited to go to school in the morning which speaks volumes about the school. To say we'll be sorry to move away next year for our next duty assignment is an understatement.
