We love Spanish Fort Elementary School. My child is in 4th grade and has had the best teachers since Kindergarten. She has learned so much and has felt loved and safe. All of her teachers have been excellent at communicating with parents. The admin team is also wonderful. They have always listened to any concerns I may have and handled accordingly. The kids have so much fun while learning. My daughter can not wait for her next school year to start.

The teachers in our experience are subpar at best. Several are negative, non-engaged with the children and their well- being. A lot of the teachers immobilize communication with the parents.

The administration needs a complete overhaul and revamp. This administration is not equipped with the proper people. There is a lack of skillset, emotional maturity and leadership. There have been numerous issues and it is extremely alarming.

There is a bully crisis at this school. SFES has the worst reputation out of the three Spanish Fort elementary schools. This is a small town and everyone will tell you why.

There is a high turnover rate with teachers and staff. There is a lot of favoritism within the school. It is very catered to whom you're friends with. Students are favored as well especially the teachers children. It's sad.

Sanctions are not properly implemented following the Handbooks policies. You will run into issues throughout any incident you report. Basically dint expect much.

You wil receivel lots of fake smiles and a helium infused like conversation if you challenge the administration. Good luck getting your point across. It's joy ride of nonsense and stupidity.

There are too many loopholes at this school. It was not a great experience for our family.

This is my daughter's first year in school and I have to say I was worried about sending my baby off to school and almost homeschooled, but the office staff and the teacher meet and Greet was enough to calm my nerves ... they're the most caring and loving staff, my daughter absolutely loves the school (I am also very involved with her class) her teacher is also new and absolutely wonderful. I wish every school had a staff that cares like this one does. Also every Friday weather willing they play music and welcome the kids to school, which makes it a fun environment for the children. I really could go on and on about how much I love this school and how I'd recommend it to every parent if I could. My daughter has learned so much and loves going to school so that should tell you something.

Very political.
Grades and academic success means absolutely nothing.
Participation in programs, clubs, and events is determined by familial connection, “gift giving” per teacher “gift request lists” that are distributed to students on the first day of school, and parents’ willingness to medicate their children for being normal kids!
SFES is an embarrassment and disgrace to educators that have a heart and passion for children.

Kids do not bring home books, there are no examples on math homework.

Our family has moved around a bit so I've seen different schools across the country. What I've seen at this school is nothing but out-dated teaching practices and teachers who don't have a desire to help all their students. Time and time again, I saw students who were "different" (special needs, unique family situations etc) ignored and bullied (by both teachers and students). In this school, if you aren't with the "in group", you are invisible. So thankful we were able to pull our children and choose an alternative method of educating our children. I would NOT recommend this school especially if you know what learning should look like.

I voiced my concerns about my child being bullied and was told that she was sorry that I didn't have a good experience at the school. Totally did not investigate or address the issue. This was after a long string of issues. This is when I gave up.

My child would come home repeating what their teacher said about other kids. I heard the teacher say the same words aloud at field trips. It was very obvious through the teacher's language who the "difficult" students were. Unfortunately, my child was beginning to think it was ok to speak that way too. It isn't.

Teachers rarely reach out to parents first to discuss an issue. Simply, the teachers do not care how their students do. Students are passed on without mastery of subjects and with little communication to parents about what a student needs to work on.

The number of spelling words are ridiculous (please educate yourself on teaching kids to spell) and common core math is terrible. Please, look into research about even having homework in the first place.

Very political. Child was far behind, changed schools now ahead based on comparison. Teachers are more worried about gossiping with friends than speaking to parents. Horrible school. Just riding off the reputations of other schools in the Eastern Shore community!

We love the school and teachers. We love all of th volunteering opportunities and ability to go on field trips.

Two years ago, I rated this school Great. After the volunteering, room mom, I can't help but say its very political. Some say you have to be rich, that isn't so - I've given plenty of money. There is just more opportunity for children who has parents or relatives working at the school. Clubs for example, I've been room mom several times .. there were several children that I know for a fact parents NEVEr contribute their time or money ... or certainly not in the years they were in the class that I was room mom in, but their aunts works at the school as a 2nd grade teacher and they are always picked for the clubs. My child is straight A never a discipline issue, and we GIVE and Gave. Its dishearting, and becomes tough to keep making excuses for the school ....as I didn't really want to teach my kids the "life of Politics" just yet.

Great school! I'm writing because getting the kids to school on time is rediculous due to poor routing design and high population! I hope this school doesn't write tardies because it is on them. They need more receiving areas. I need an excuse for my job to get to work on time!! Geez!!!

Two of our children went to this school. I liked most of their teachers.com and they did too. We did not like the guidance counselor. She's pushy and if you're not rich you get treated like a charity case. Other than her, we were pretty happy there.

Great school. Low student to teacher ratio (~15 kids per class). We've experienced K-2nd grades, and my daughter has liked all her teachers. Lots of field trips and activities (parades, shows) for younger kids. After School Care is also available for kids with working parents, and a summer program on site as well. Classes in Art & Music meet once a week. Parents are highly involved in PTA, fundraising, volunteering.

Could not be happier with this school, the academics, the teachers, etc...Excellent learning environment, caring staff, top notch education. The only thing possibly lacking about this school is the limited extra-curricular activities

We love our school. 100% of the parents join the PTA here. The teachers are excellent as well as the principal. Very professional from the bus drivers, janitors all the way up to the principal. We could not be more proud of our school! Project Jubilee is a great program for gifted children. Our child is so excited about going to space camp in Huntsville this year!
