I’m not sure how FHS ranks as high as it does. The focus is not on academics, and admin spends more time making TikToks and drinking coffee than caring about students’ success.
Lawless parking lot with no supervision, safety issues swept under the rug, sports > academics.
Positives include a good teaching staff and nice front office. Also one of two IB programs in county (although principal puts little value in it even though it keeps the school afloat).

My daughter and son were homeschooled most of their lives until we moved from out of state to Fairhope last year. We were not impressed with the schools where we lived and when we moved to Fairhope we researched everything about Fairhope High School. After a year of them in this school, we have determined that the teachers have the students best interest in mind. If you put forth the effort the teachers will help you along the way. This administration knows how to properly operate and it truly showed during the pandemic. The principle made a point to have the kids get back to normal as quick as possible. If you are looking for a school that will reward your child based on their efforts, Fairhope High School is your place.

The administration seems to be very on top of things and communicates well with parents about what is going on most of the time. But I have heard that several incidents of great concern, were "swept under the rug."

Though have not experienced this with my children, I have heard that a lot of these types of situations are pushed aside. This needs to stop.

Overall I find the homework in all subjects was excessive. A student shouldn't have to do 2-4 hours of homework a night. Piling on problems and essays doesn't equal rigor. Especially in the math area. Having a student complete 30 or more problems a night doesn't mean understanding of the concept. Have less problems and go over them in class to see who got it and who didn't. Thank goodness for online tutoring help.

My children have excelled in this school and the class offerings are diverse and academically challenging. The electives and extracurricular activities provided are well balanced and lets students bring out their assets. Like most schools in AL, sports programs are treated with the utmost importance, especially football. Admin should try to recognize those that aren't academically inclined more. Luckily the teachers make a fuss when students try their best and do well.

Office ladies are terrible and unorganized, janitors are EXTREMELY rude, school spends all it's money on sports (mainly football) rather than on academic or building concerns. Some bathroom stalls also don't have locks that function properly to the point that they may as well not be there at all (girls bathroom).

Been in Fairhope School Systems a long time. Being in the AP Program, the curriculum and teaching is overall fairly good with a majority of the teachers being extremely helpful and guiding throughout the year. Of course, there are always some bad apples, but you just learn to work through it. However, the administration and head leadership of the school is beyond awful and extremely disheartening to find that morals do not find their way to the top of the board. You WILL be lied to, manipulated, and ignored. The relationships between the administration and faculty is a repeat of high school drama -- not very hard to imagine regarding the situation -- and they choose to protect their supporters rather than what is right (i.e. some awful teachers under tenure that are long-time friends). Overall, Fairhope teachers will do a good job of prepping you academically if you choose to take the higher standard classes, but if you have an issue or something entirely horrible and dramatic happens: you will not be helped. It will be swept under the rug, as I have seen dozens of situations that could easily have met news stations to outrage, yet they were swept under the rug and hidden. Choose what you value, preparation for education or your child being prioritized as you cannot have both here.

I am a parent of a student who recently started here, as we recently moved here due to a military transition. I have to say that I have been extremely impressed with the school overall. The administration have been there to answer all my questions about the school (Ms. Schulz and Mr. Cardwell have been awesome), and my son has said positive things about most of his teachers. I am also very impressed about the "Digital Renaissance" program in the Baldwin County School System, as this has not been offered at any other school that I have had a child in. We look forward to being a part of the "Pirate Community" for our next few years in the Fairhope area.

Graduated from FHS in 2011, doing great in college and set to graduate next year. Enjoyed my time there very much. I would definitely reccommend this school.

I would not recommend this school for anyone. My son transferred here in January and I am moving back to north Al. The kids are brats and think they are better than anyone and the teachers are not any better. If you are not from Fairhope then you are treated extremely bad. Oh yes did I forget to mention the drugs that are openly displayed in the school? Oh that's right these kids are priviledged!!!!!

Exceptional school with a great leadership and faculty! The students are very well-mannered and respectful. It is the best high school in our district!

i strongly recommend your child not to go to this school. this school is not the place to be. i remember my child coming home everyday telling me how she wants to move and not be here any longer. their are known to be some bad kids at this school doing bad things. there has been violent activity at this school. the teachers do not help a lot with anything and the administrators are ridiculous about why you get in trouble for things. they will suspended you for anything and everything. i advise that you don't bring your child here to this school, because i promise they will not enjoy one bit.

We are extremely pleased with FHS. The principle, staff, faculty AND students have been very friendly and helpful to us as we moved here from out of state. The curriculum and great expectations of the students is highly commendable as well. The extracuricular activities offer something for everyone too.

Wonderful atmosphere, staff, and principle. If you are looking for a great school that truly exemplifies the communal spirit of Fairhope, AL, this is the school for you! The AP program is one of the best around, improving every year as grant money pours in. Its upper level academics surpasses that of Bayside Academy and teachers work closely with students to give them a REALISTIC outlook on college and the world in general. Fairhope schools are wonderful for raising children as well.

This is probably the worst school I have EVER stepped foot into. If you arent rich, you might as well leave. The people are MEAN. The atmosphere makes you sick. I DO NOT recommend this school. Any school is better than this one. Daphne High School is where you want to send your kids.

Fairhope High School is an adequate high school. The teacher quality is only good if you are on the college preparatory or International Baccalaureate track but even then you will get some bad ones. The Alabama tenure law guarantees that. The leadership of the principals and her assistants is marginal. All of them are very difficult to work with and refuse to listen to feedback. This school is not in the business of meeting the needs of its students. The community has gotten so apathetic about trying to work with these people that parent involvement is in a decline. The problem is no other options in this town. The private school, Bayside Academy, is no better.

I do not recommend Fairhope High. I think their score needs to be lowered as it is misleading. I compared the Great Schools score to the school we came from and it was the same, however, Fairhope is not in the same league as our old school. The communication from the teachers and administration is non-existent, and the level, quality of students is average at best. I wished we would have selected Spanish Fort HS, or Daphne HS, or a private school.
