Was a student at this school, faculty and staff always had issues with each other. They constantly are changing things to make everything difficult for kids and parents. Im sure now everything is online because they give out computers so they just stare at screens all day. In my experience I would say 8/10 teachers do not like kids and make school miserable.

This school meets the testing requirements, but the school teachers are a hit and miss on whether you get a good one. There is a clique at this school and bullying is rampant, with no recourse because 9 times out of 10 the kid doing the bullying in a teacher kid, or someone on the sports team and it is covered up. The administration is rude, and act as though they are Gods. They treat the kids very harsh for minor things and then bring the hammer down for minor things. If you are a teachers kid, you can dress highly inappropriate in clear violation of dress code in lulu short skirts and crop tops, but if you arent lucky to be a teachers kid, then you will get sent home for a tear in your jeans above the knee. Events are always disorganized and there is no assistance, its a hunt and find out where you should be. You can go to the neighborhood pages and see all the parents who are disgusted with his school and have pulled their kids for private school or homeschool.

While most of the teachers at this school are very strong and the curriculum is appropriately challenging, the administration has significant room for improvement. In our experience, administrators seem more focused on strict rule enforcement than on fostering student development. Support appears to be readily extended to students and families who align with their expectations and approach, while those who question decisions or seek clarification may face disproportionately harsh consequences.
We found the overall environment to feel somewhat all-or-nothing. Students who fit neatly within the schools administrative framework may have a very positive experience. However, students who are more independent, unconventional, or who require a more individualized approach may encounter ongoing challenges.

Chelsea Middle School has a great student body with involved, caring, and supportive parents and an active PTO. However, CHMS has outgrown both the nearby 2-laned winding roads without turn lanes or sidewalks and its sports facilities without enough parking space. Too bad the city can't buy this campus and create football fields for the community sports leagues. Chelsea help the middle school acquire new space like the awesome Helena Middle or Calera Middle. Chelsea staff has done great things with leaking roofs and outdated electricity.......imagine how the morale of the community would prove if the middle school were the right size and newly minted? The current campus has had 50 years of band- aids. Our kids could REALLY take off in a place built with the future in mind.....

CHMS has great teachers but the physical education department needs an overhaul. New equipment and facilities is much needed, as well as a challenging and engaging program.

The teachers care and parental involvement is strong. Chelsea is a great community and Shelby County is in tune with its schools! Thank everyone for coming together for our kids!!

We are new to Chelsea Middle School but so far our experience has been wonderful! The teachers are very helpful and go out of their way to make sure the students succeed. Homework can get overwhelming at times and makes it hard for after school activities. There are plenty of opportunities for involvement in extracurricular activities. I love being able to keep up with my daughters grades through the Inow program. Blogs that are provided by each teacher make it convenient to keep up with homework and any changes that may take place. We love this community and believe Chelsea Middle School will provide the education needed to succeed.

ChMS has a staff that truly cares about our kids. The principle is always visible in the school and encouraging the kids.

This is my child's second year at Chelsea Middle. The staff and administration has been accomodating and relational. The overall student body is motivated to learn, improve and have fun.

Hi there and thanks for this opportunity. Chelsea Middle School has been a great experience both learning and socially for my child. There is a great system in place including the administration and parents. There is definitely growth in Chelsea which is evident by the newly built elementary school. The middle school is in need of some upgrades and modernizations. This $5000 in support would be great start to some much needed additions. Thank you for your consideration.

Chelsea Middle School is a great place to be!!! It is within a town that is small enough that everyone knows each other, but big enough that there are many opportunities. Chelsea Middle School has excellent teachers that most importantly want children to learn and to love one another. They are supportive and encouraging - yet at the same time challenging. So excited about the FUTURE of Chelsea --- it's moving up in a good way!!!

Chelsea Middle School has amazing teachers and staff. The building itself could use some updating, as it is really old, however the building doesn't make the school, the people make the school!

At Chelsea Middle School, we have the potential for a great school experience. We are blessed with awesome teachers, faculty, and students. We also have a huge amount of parent support through the P.T.O. and involvement with both academic and extra-curricular activities. The one area lacking is our school facilities. It is the oldest building in the school system as it was the original building constructed way back when. There are efforts underway through the city, county, and parents to improve facilities. Overall, we are proud to be a Hornet.

ChMS is located in a small town that has had tremendous growth in the past 5 years, therefore the school is overcrowded! The cafeteria is shared by K-8th Grade right now! The school building is nasty inside and out and needs a lot of work! Most of the teachers seem to care about the students and do a good job with what little funds they have to work with! A Booster Club has been formed this year which will help with all of the sporting programs! The school really needs funding to help with all the improvements that need to be made but the County says there is none to be had!

Lots of fantastic and caring teachers at this school! They really go above and beyond to make sure the students get the instruction they need!

Chelsea Middle School is a wonderful environment for middle school students. The principal is committed to ensuring the faculty and staff are well trained and have the best possible resources to support the children in their learning. The faculty strive to ensure all students are taught at the level that matches their development. There is a new Athletic Booster Club program in which the parents are partnering with the school to enhance the athletic program. There are a number of wonderful extra-curricular activities and programs that supplement the in class instruction. We have found the school to a perfect setting for our children to get the instruction that helps them excel academically and athletically. Thankfully, at the same time, they feel loved and supported by their teachers, staff, and fellow classmates. Although the school is increasing in size, the feel of a hometown small community continues to reverberate throughout the school.

Chelsea Middle school is located in a small rural growing town. There are now over 1000 students attending in grades 6-8th. The facilities are old and outdated. Buildings/grounds/etc.. The school needs a great deal of work on both the inside & out. It is overcrowded and Shelby County is too big & has too many schools to aid in all our much needed improvements. We are also in a low property tax bracket which does not help the financial situation. Space and class sizes are definitely major concerns. A parent Booster club has been started this year to help raise funds for athletic short comings. Zoning & bus routes are also alarming issues. Our kids are zoned for this school, yet because we don't live in the city of Chelsea we are not allowed to vote on matters that affect our children. Bus transportation is limited. Our 6th graders have to ride the bus with High school kids. "Most" of the teachers are quality--TENURE SHOULD BE ELIMINATED!! There are some ancient teachers & administrators that are just passing the time & need to move on, but because of tenure they will be there another 100 years!! Parents are great & super kids.

Chelsea Middle School is filled with great kids and a caring, involved administration. They are doing great things with the limited funds they receive. Chelsea pride and spirit continue to grow each year. Although parents are becoming more involved with the school, I would like to see it increase.

My child enjoys attending school here with his friends. I think there are still a lot of improvements that need to made and many items that need to be fixed in the school to make it a safe environment. Parent involvement is getting better

Chelsea Middle School is a fast growing school with student-focused teachers and staff who have to deal with 30 year old structures that are in desperate need of renovations and upgrades to be competitive with other local area schools. While I am proud to send my children to Chelsea Middle School I realize that without parent involvement in fund raising our hope for important improvements will go undone. I'm willing to do my part in helping our school and spreading Chelsea pride throughout our community.

It's not always the structures that make a school or a program, but the people inside. ChMS is a great school with great teachers and students. We have enjoyed our experience and are glad our child is enjoying his middle school experience.

My son loves Chelsea Middle School but the school has the potential of being so much better. Adequate lack of funds from the County level has left it with a much needed renovation and better facilities for athletes. Parents need to stop saying what needs to be done and help make it happen! If everyone comes together, we can make a difference one person at a time!
