Our family absolutely loves Rockwell! Everyone in the school treats each other like family! Custodians, Cafeteria workers, teachers, office staff... they all want the best for all students. All of our teachers have always followed my son's 504 Plan and set him up to succeed. So glad that we are zoned for Rockwell!

I have three children attending Rockwell Elementary School. My children love going to school everyday to see their teachers and friends. The school has a very welcoming environment. Our teachers are very kind, hold high expectations, and make learning fun. Teachers and administrators support students at school, as well as at community and sports events. They also communicate very well with parents. Teachers and staff go above and beyond to make sure students' individual needs are met, that they are mastering grade-level skills, and that the children feel loved. Rockwell Elementary is an amazing school!

I have had both my children attend this school. We have had an exceptional experience with both my children. Besides the general classroom our experiences with the special education department and the gifted program have been very positive.

Administration and teachers make students feel part of a family and community of learners.

Rockwell Elementary School is hands down the best school not only in Baldwin County, but also in the state of Alabama! Mr. Owen and the entire staff care about the students academic success as well as their mental and physical well being. The staff knows that no two students are alike. Therefore, the teachers do a wonderful job tailoring their instruction to meet the needs of all of the their students. Unlike any other school in the area, they put a great emphasis on the Arts. The Arts are incorporated into all the subject areas through different school wide studies throughout the year. Rockwell is a very welcoming and inviting school. They go to great measures to make sure that every family that enters Rockwell feels like they are part of the Rockwell family when they leave. Rockwell truly is the best public school out there!

I highly recommend Rockwell Elementary School. The teachers and staff go above and beyond to make every student feel welcome and included. Fun and engaging lessons grab students' attention and help with learning taught skills. My child loves to come to school each day and continues to talk about school and the fun they had once we go home. The administration is top-notch. Our principals are very involved in the daily life of a school day. They make sure students feel safe and loved. I couldn't pick a better school for my child.

There is not a school like Rockwell anywhere! There is a unique culture of family environment and rigorous learning provided by the most loving teachers and administrators. The students' needs are met, both high and low, by impeccable intervention and multiple opportunities for enrichments. Rockwell has students that love to learn, teachers that care, and administrators that inspire leaders.

Her teacher does a great job of communicating with parents and creating a safe and fun learning environment for the kids. All teachers and staff have been phenomenal! They go above and beyond to teach students and create fun experiences at the same time. We are lucky that we get to attend this great school!

We've had an amazing experience at Rockwell. Our family moved here from out of state a couple years ago. Rockwell was very welcoming and inclusive to our kids. The teachers and staff and be very effective and consistent with bringing learning, arts, music, extra curricular, advanced learning and loving care to the school day.

The counselor came to me and let me know my child needed a 504 plan as she saw the need because when he would act up in class, they sent him to the counselor.

Posted: August 22, 2018

Never had to deal with this but I am sure they would handle it beautifully like everything else.

Posted: August 22, 2018

We loved the school and the staff. They really cared about my son and strived to do all they could to see him succeed. In fact, we bought a house outside the district and are so sad that he can no longer attend.

We have loved all of our teachers here and especially the resource teacher, Mrs. Miller.

Posted: August 22, 2018

My son acted so much better and his grades improved tremendously at this school.

Not good. The teacher my child has is the worst I have seen. She seems to have picked 2-3 kids in the class to mercilessly mess with and bully, while treating all the other with kid gloves. We have been told by a room mom, and chaperones on a field trip, that she flat out lies about his behavior. We have been told by that room mom that he was being very good, but a little hyper, that he was on "yellow" (1 clip down for the day) at the end of the day, only for his report to be showing "red" (the worst). She told us that he was acting up at a field trip, and she had to keep him by her side the entire time he was so bad. One of the chaperones for the class told us that he was in her group, and had been fantastic, no issues at all. That he never even walked with the teacher, and he listened and got in no trouble. Yet the teacher is telling us he was horrible???? Come to find out, she was mistaking him for another studnt in the class who WAS acting up... They have been in her class for almost 8 months, and she still doesn't even know which is which.

If this is the kind of teachers that they have throughout this school, I have no clue how it is rated as high as it is. Terrible experience, would not recommend.

Only if you consider integrity, compassion, and respect to be similar to bullying. The kids here are mean on a whole, and the teachers aren't much better. Owen and Thorpe seem like stand up guys, but I haven't met many others who seem to be.

This school has been a terrible experience! The teachers talk down to their own students and disrespect them. My child asks me every day when he can leave this school. Try Daphne or Fairhope schools for a more professional environment.

Rockwell has been a dream come true for our family! One step inside this school, and I knew this is where we wanted our children to be. The teachers and staff are loving and caring, the PTA support is the most impressive of any school I've ever seen, and the quality of education is impressive. I have heard many other parents who moved their kids out of private schools to Rockwell share these sentiments as well. My child is thriving in the gifted education program here! Also, Rockwell was fortunate to have a beautiful new wing added recently and is in the process of expanding their cafeteria, so we are very blessed to have this school in our community. We were so sad to lose Robbie Owen as principal, but know he will continue to do great things and make ALL of Baldwin County Schools the best they can be!

Our whole family loves Rockwell! We moved down south about 7 years ago and I was very concerned with the public school system down here. I am more than pleased with the education my boys have received at Rockwell. My boys love it!! Every time I go visit the school I feel like its a little piece of heaven down here in south Alabama. Robbie Owen and all his staff are absolutely wonderful.

I have a daughter that has been going their sense kindergarten and she loves it, Rockwell is a great school the teacher's I love them they really gets involved with the students and parents my child have learned so much and I'm thankful for them

Posted: March 24, 2014

As I stated in a previous posting that was deleted for some reason: My child has been getting bullied for about a month now and the teacher and principal refuse to acknowledge the issue.

Posted: March 24, 2014

My daughter was also bullied during class and the staff would not return calls or email in our attempts to arrange a meeting. Eventually pulled her out. Disappointed does not begin to describe how I fell about this school

I have had 3 children attend Rockwell and can't say enough positive things. The staff is amazing! I don't think you can find any better. The parent involvement is through the roof. ALL parents are encouraged to help out wherever possible. The PE teachers are great. They do a very good job with the amount of students that they have in each class. The school also acknowledges good grades. They have implemented the National Elementary Honor Society which is a huge honor. I would not want my kids to be anywhere else. We love Rockwell and the Spanish Fort community!

Posted: October 28, 2013

This is our 3rd year at this school so I feel like I've gotten a chance to really get a feel for it. The positives: the parent involvement is phenomenal, the principal is involved in the little details of things (car line, directing traffic, , substitute bus driver). The staff and and teachers are very friendly and welcoming. The school is very clean and covered in the children's artwork. The negatives: I feel like this school fits the 'sports first' attitude of this area. They give out a running award but do not acknowledge honor roll AT ALL while other schools in the area have a whole ceremony. Where is the academic encouragement???? A ribbon or a pat on the back from the teachers for A honor roll is not a lot to ask. There also is a feeling of 'who you know' in the school too. Seems like a few families have more influence in the school than others. Also- this is the 3rd year I've heard from kids (and not just my own) how unfriendly BOTH P.E. teachers are. Is your job that bad???? All in all- it's not the better school that we thought it was going to be, but we are certainly happy enough here.

My daughter is in first grade of the Rockwell Elementary school, she did her Kinder at the same school. We really like the School: good children to teacher ratio, very attentive school staff, strong PTA, clean and safe. It is clear, all school staff really love children. School Principal, Mr. Owen, in 2008 was named Alabama s National Distinguished Principal and in 2011th Mr. Owen has being recognized for his efforts by the White House as a Champion of Change , so, it s speak for itself about school s leadership. We love this school!
