Gulf Shores High School has been nothing short of a blessing for my children. The school offers a number of relevant, engaging electives that each of my children found aligned with their different interests. The core classes prepared my children for college classes, and they have found college standards and expectations to be aligned with their high school experience. The band program is one of many extracurricular offerings in addition to the sport programs, which we found very refreshing the number of coaches who were experts in secondary sports, not just basketball, baseball, and football. If you are in search of a school that has many resources to supplement academic and athletic skill development, Gulf Shores High School checks all of the boxes.

Athletic programs are strong and offer variety. Not only does Gulf Shores offer the traditional sports, but Bowling, Cross Country, Indoor Track, Swimming, and Wrestling are established programs as well.
The students are well mannered and respectful at this school, and the faculty truly works together to Make Waves.
I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this system, and I cant wait to see the future of GSCS.

Since leaving the county system, Gulf Shores High School has made MAJOR steps towards academics and athletics due to support from the City and local business owners! There are almost 30 elective courses, many dual enrollment courses, more support for fine arts and so many common sense career courses for our students to take. Athletic facilities have and are being upgraded to benefit all of our teams! The entire administration has implemented more rigor and definitive measures to help our students succeed! The staff all seem to not just get along but support each others specific programs/classes! This makes for a great school that is headed in the right direction!

Since becoming a new system, GS has made great strides in creating an excellent environment for students. New programs, academies, and classes are just the beginning. My children will have the foundation they need to excel at the next level thanks to GSHS.

The school has improved since Gulf Shores has become its own school district. There is still major communication issues.

New city school as of last fall. Low class sizes and a strong commitment to learning. They are developing programs that link universities such as Alabama and Auburn as well as the coastal community college for dual enrollment. They have a strong band program and rotc. They have engineering, robotics, culinary, and many other courses for students. The staff are excellent.

My son is a recent graduate. I disagree with the reviews about administration. Dr. Rosado always made time to help us with any issues my child had with the few teachers who made unfair or unethical decisions. Even with that being said, I can understand the frustration teachers may feel with trying to teach children of affluent and wealthy parents. They can often feel entitled and above the rules. I would like to thank Dr. Rosado and his administration for always being there to listen to a single mother with no influence in the community. I suggest parents get a grip on their children, and I also challenge teachers to not let these children stop them from fulfilling their responsibilities and passion to teach and mentor. I can't give the school a 5 star rating due to classroom instruction, but I also understand the Digital Renaissance initiative is very young and it will take some time to perfect management and monitoring. We all know there's work to be done in this area.

Poorly run school. The administration is more focused on promoting digital renaissance than they are on the students. Students report problems and how or if they are addressed is inconsistent.Education is the last priority at this school. Sad the potential being wasted.

Gshs is a joke. You can graduate at the top of your class and not be close to prepared for college level courses. The administration is mostly concerned with appearances. All the students have Mac books which are primarily used to watch movies and play games. There are very few talented educators. There are major drug problems. The students are spoiled rich kids that have no respect for each other or for authority. Time for someone new running this school before the current principal runs it completely into the ground while trying to promote himself at the expense of students.

Reading past reviews, I can't seem to believe them. If they are true, then this school changed drastically since then.. Its terrible.
