Lakewood Elementary and Primary are by far the best schools our children have ever gone to. Being military, we move quite often. We never knew what we were missing until our kids started at Lakewood. From parent involvement, to school functions, the teachers truly love these kids and it shows. I’ll be so sad when they no longer go to Lakewood.

Very diverse school. My child is a military child, and the Lakewood schools are much like what she is used to. Every teacher she has had from K to 4th grade have been awesome! We send our daughter out of district to the school, and it is worth it.

Both of my children have attended Lakewood Elementary. I have had nothing but a positive, amazing experience. The school has so many extra curricular activities that there is something for everyone to be involved.

Great staff, and the communication between the teachers and parents is outstanding! My students' teacher always keeps up to date, and does not mind sharing an inside look to the class room environment.

So for anyone reading this looking for a great school for their children, you've just found it. We have been at LES and LPS since kindergarten. The teachers, policies, environment, administration, extra curricular activities, and overall approach to learning and students is far superior than anything you will find in our area. Period. Public or private. The teachers are committed to setting high standards for their students and then working tirelessly to make sure the kids get it and master it. The projects they work on are meaningful and always teach them more than the obvious... They are learning to be responsible, educated and caring people. The PE team and curriculum are out of this world, facilities are too. The media center, the nurse, the gifted program, the speech therapy services are exceptional. The PTA, ice cream socials, school dances, parents nights outs, school ambassadors, the running club, scouts, 4H club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Lakewood on the Green, the after school program, etc..... Are just some of the things that make the Lakewood experience special. The community really rallies around this school and their students. I was very torn about choosing between Lakewood and St. Luke School..... Could not be prouder of our decision. My children love school, love learning, love their school friends and have adored their teaches through the years. This school and its leadership are committed to nurturing the whole child. My children excel academically and their standardized test scores are through the roof. I attribute their success in large, to this school, the administration, and the outstanding teachers that create a partnership with the parents and students. A+

I have had two children attend Lakewood and I have never had a complaint. The teachers are awesome, the office staff are very welcoming and helpful, Mrs. S Wilson is great preparing the students for a high tech world, Mrs. Booth teaches older kids how to do research on a certain subject, Mrs. Siniard so patient and kind with her greenhouse classes, and last, but not least, the COACHES: OJ, Coop, Bice, and Jowers are just great for teaching Physical Education. My husband and I have been so pleased with Lakewood and glad our boys had the experience of an excellent education.

Helps keep the child focused and also gives me an insight as to what she's learning at school.

It's a great school I don't have any issues with it whatsoever. They have gone above and beyond to help my niece.

After I gained guardianship of my niece, they have gone above and beyond what my niece has needed to help her catch up. I love the staff there. It has been a delight to be able to work with such caring individuals.

We have been a part of the Lakewood family since my daughter started Kindergarten. It has been nothing shy of exceptional. The faculty and staff are always welcoming and encouraging to the students and the parents. Safety is top notch and the curriculum more than prepares our children for later years without sacrificing their childhood. So many schools are doing away with PE programs, but LES places a high value on physical education and allows exposure to so many sports allowing kids to find their niche and instilling the value of living a healthy lifestyle. This school provides the perfect balance for our family and truly makes us feel like family!

Amazing teachers, support staff & administrative staff! Everyone truly goes above & beyond for the education of the students at LES! My only complaint is that I wished LES did not stop at 5th grade but that it went through 12th grade!

My daughter has attended Lakewood Elementary School for the past four years, and I have no complaints. She started her education in a private school that unfortunately had to close. I requested for her to attend Lakewood due to the positive feedback I had gotten from other parents. I was worried about the student to teacher ratio, but my daughter has excelled in each grade. The school provides a great professional atmosphere for learning, and they make parents feel truly welcome to visit the school and your child's class.

Posted: March 30, 2016

I have found that my daughter's teachers have been very effective. They understand that not all students learn at the same pace or in the same manner and they work with those students to accomplish the mission.

Posted: March 30, 2016

Students are given quite a bit of homework, but it helps the students to better understand the lesson and enables the class to progress at a much better pace.

Posted: March 30, 2016

Students are instructed from day one that they are expected to be honest. Students are given responsibilities in class that rely on their integrity, and they relish the thought that their teacher believes in them enough to know that they will do what is right.

Our experience at Lakewood has been excellent. The staff is extremely dedicated and hard working, the campus is clean and well cared for, they encourage parental involvement, they strive to provide hands on learning opportunities (such as the nature trail and science labs) and most importantly, my children love it!

Posted: March 30, 2016

In my experience, whenever my children have needed a little extra help with a new concept, the teachers have taken care to use any time or method necessary to ensure that they understand it clearly.

Posted: March 30, 2016

The amount of homework seems fair, however, be prepared for a lot of testing that requires a lot of studying! This may be due to common core standards and also may be the same in other school systems, but in my opinion, the children are subjected to far too much testing!!

In my experience, most of the teachers try to let the kids be kids and not overload them with homework.

Lakewood is such a great school. All of my daughter's teachers have been extremely hard-working and compassionate people. The staff at Lakewood are very determined to make all students excel to their personal best! I also appreciate all the special areas classes my daughter has access to such as greenhouse, computer lab, and music.

Hard working concerned, caring teachers and staff..Made school enjoyable while learning. My grandchildren love this school and have learned so much as well as all the extra curricular events they have for them.

My son started kindergarten here & as you can imagine sending a child off to school for the first time is scary. Lakewood made it so easy as they welcomed my child & made his first day seem less terrifying. My son LOVES school & I feel like it has to do with the time he spent at this school with these amazing teachers. His kindergarten teacher Mrs. Hall, his first grade teacher Ms. Averett, & his third grade teacher, Mrs. Courson were more than I could have ever hoped for in a teacher. Mrs. Hall & Ms. Averett are now down the hill at the Lakewood Primary (grades k-2) I've never been more disappointed when we found out we were moving. I was more upset over leaving this school than the home I own there. I think all schools in the future will have a hard time following the high standards this one set. The faculty & staff go above & beyond. I don't see how anyone could give this school any other rating than the 10 it deserves! None of the other schools in the area even compare. I seriously could go on & on for hours about how great this school is :) This school will not disappoint you...you will feel at ease when you & your child walk through the door for the first time!

I have 4 children in Lakewood. As a military family its usually difficult to adjust and this being their first public school i was really worried. The staff, teachers, leadership at this school welcomed my kids with open arms and challenged them in every area. The teachers communicated with me when noticed changes in the children and as a team we discussed and approached the problem. Mrs Hudson is an excellent K teacher as well as Ms Tally for 5th and Ms James for 4th grades. LEAP is expensive , howver is a great afterschool program. Nurse Kelly is comforting and a great asset for the kids. The kids are focused ,confident and ready for the next school year.

I love, Love, LOVE this school! I was worried when we moved to the area and realized how horrible the academic scores and what not of the GA, AL area were, so I further researched all schools and short of a private school, Lakewood was for us! My daughter went to kindergarten there with Mrs Wicker, what an amazing teacher, what a way to start out your school years! I could not of asked for anything better! They are changing it up a bit this coming school year for the better! Splitting the schools into 2! Can't wait!!

My twins attended first grade this year with Mrs. McSwain as their teacher. I was surprised to find they kept twins together, as the girls last school separated them. Mrs. M is a very strong and caring teacher, very strict - but she loves her children and it is reflected by the students actions. I have been to her classroom several times, the students are well behaved, use VERY GOOD manners, respond with "Yes, Ma'am" etc. The school itself is very good, they regularly have the school counselor interact with the children, daily gym, reading, math and science - and technology classes. They strongly encourage family involvement, and the field trips are educational as well as fun. They have a green house (to show how things grow), animals in the classroom (a parrot greets you at the main entrance), a great playground / sports area (inside and out) and a wonderful caring staff. They also are civic and community minded - local restaraunts sponsor "Lakewood" days, and the students can participate in community activies, such as pretty in pink (a non beauty pageant) and Special Olympics. The after school program (LEAP) is also great. I strongly recommend this school.

I will be moving there this summer from Colorado. My fiancee's son went there last year and loved it. He did really well. My 8 yr old daughter has Cognitive and Developmental Delays and is a wonderful student. I would love any input from any parents and/or staff regarding the Special Education Department please. Thankyou so much, I appreciate it! Kathy

My two (2) grandaughters attend Lakewood Elementary School and I have had the opportunity to be involved in their academic accomplishments as well as their extra-curricular activities and events. I always feel very comfortable and welcome when I am at the school. The administration and faculty are always friendly and helful.
