I like this school because I was able to enroll my 18 month and 3 year old ahead of waiting until Kindergarten age to go to school and begin their learning and growth experiences. The school offers a variety of programs such as music and languages at an early start to get the children familiarized. I also like how they learn through two and three dimensional constructs and a self motivation mindset and individuality for each child that leads them to learn independently with guidance.

My daughter attends Montessori School of Huntsville. We are thrilled with the care, attention, and education she receives from her teachers. Also the rich learning environment and outside space are ideal for her active mind and body!

This school is wonderful! Our 4 year old was having issues with acting out and hitting at other daycares. He just has so much pent up energy that he just didnt know how to handle it all day in a more rigid environment.

At Montessori he has been able to thrive and flourish with the dozens of separate stations that provide unique challenges and problems to solve, which helps him develop his critical thinking. They get plenty of outdoors time in their huge outside play area and woods, too. They think they are playing all day but the play is structured so they are always learning.

The teachers all follow a philosophy of helping the children work through their issues, whether it be with another student or just frustration with a particular work area. Our son has grown leaps and bounds in his ability to communicate and his love for learning. We absolutely love the school and what it stands for.

We love the Montessori School of Huntsville! Our son attends at the Hampton Cove campus and it truly is a little home away from home. His teachers are so sweet, truly caring, and we're constantly blown away by how much he is learning. We can't imagine sending him anywhere else.

We absolutely love Montessori School of Huntsville! (MSH) Both children attend, weve been there for nearly 3 years and really appreciate the way the faculty and administration care for the children. They take very seriously their responsibility to provide a true Montessori education at all levels.

Reasons we love this/Montessori Method? Lots of outside time learning, playing, and adventure, which children need. Incredible support for individual independence in thought and behavior in each child. Respectful treatment of children and non-violent communication/discipline. Multi-age classrooms provide children with team building and teaching/learning opportunities from their peers. Care for environment (inside and outside) helps kids to be very cognizant of their surroundings and willing to help out without necessarily being asked. Experience based learning results in kids that know what something truly means, rather than having information memorized. It also brings out the math, science, language, history, and/or social science in a single activity, so that children can grow to realize that science is in sports or history is in gardening, etc.

The MSH school community itself is very incredible and supportive. There are people of all walks of life, backgrounds, and belief systems allowing us and our children to continually realize that people are more alike than we are different and how to respectfully handle our differences when we have them.

All that to say HIGHLY RECOMMEND MSH! :)

My 4 year old is in primary classroom. I would recommend this school because outdoor play is prioritized, the staff are loving and caring, and she has learned a lot too, which is honestly my last priority at her age. But that's the great thing about Montessori. Whether education or play is your top motivation, both will happen because both are needed for balance.

We've been tremendously happy with our experience at MSH. It's a wonderful school that has created a tight-knit community that provides a caring and expansive educational experience for all ages. Our daughter has grown tremendously from the toddler program up through the pre-k classroom and has been allowed to explore her interests, either at her age level or above, so that she has developed a huge love of learning. The teachers are highly trained and qualified, and we've been very happy with how they have nurtured their students in the classroom. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quality school for their children.

We have had three children in MSH, so we've experienced all the different age-group classrooms from Toddler through Upper Elementary and can't say enough positive things about the school. My children's teachers have been thoughtful, observant and engaged in addition to being experienced and credentialed in the Montessori method.

The beautiful, organized classrooms and outdoor spaces have helped my kids develop in a balanced way, with routines that build social, emotional, physical, and academic resiliency in three very different kids whose natural tendencies often put some of those areas above others. I have also deeply appreciated the diversity of students and the opportunities that my children have gained from learning alongside children from different backgrounds and cultures.

Homework has developed naturally as the kids have aged, with things like cooking with parents and nightly reading being the preferred options until Upper Elementary. This fits with our family philosophy, and the average test scores for the school show that going light on homework is not at all a problem for their students. In Upper Elementary, students are expected to engage in more rigorous projects and activities, and some of that does become homework, though not an overly burdensome amount.

In all the moments when we've had to communicate with teachers about difficulties our children are experiencing, I've been extremely grateful for the care and understanding with which the teachers and administrators have responded to our concerns. Having the support of the teachers and administration has been so helpful in making sure that our kids are learning and growing to their full potential. Logistically, the school has also been helpful about finding ways to work with parents who have children in different classrooms with slightly different schedules, and I appreciated that willingness to make things work for busy parents. After a lot of research and careful consideration of all the options, MSH was far and away the preferred option for our family, and we are very grateful for our years there!

First and foremost, the teachers start with genuine love and respect for the kids in their class. They take time to get to know them as individuals and because children stay in the same class for three years, they don't have to establish a new rapport and adjust to new routines or expectations from year to year. The teachers here are all Montessori trained, which is essential for guiding children through the Montessori curriculum. Montessori teacher training is an intensive process that takes two or three years of graduate-level coursework and includes a supervised practicum year.

My child came to this school after a couple of years in the public school system. He was an average/below average student and had almost no passion for school or academics. The years he spent in the elementary program at MSH was transformative for him. Suddenly, he had a drive for learning math and his teacher supported that intensity by providing him as much as he desired. His confidence in himself as a learner grew as a result and eventually his skills in reading and other content areas began to improve. He was happy again. He is very active and needs lots of movement. which he was able to get because through sixth grade he had recess EVERY DAY! Not only do they begin the day with morning/before school recess, but there is also recess after lunch, in addition to PE a couple of times each week. I can say without a doubt that the years he spent at Montessori will serve him the rest of his life.

Children are able to accomplish deep levels of learning during the school day making assigned "busy work" at home unnecessary. They have some homework during the week and a few projects throughout the year that they will work on from home, but that is it. Teachers stress the importance of reading every night for at least 20 minutes and most importantly spending quality time with family, two things that are proven to support children's learning and development.

My boy has been at MSH since he was 3 years old and is now almost 5. He started in the toddler classroom and is now in Primary. He is very advanced and was reading before he arrived at MSH. We talked to the teachers because we were concerned that he would be bored. They assured us that they wouldn't allow that to happen. If he masters the tasks for his age group they'll be happy to get him more challenging materials from the older classrooms.

The thing I like most is that HE is allowed to choose what he does. If he wants to color or stack blocks with the other kids his age, he can. If he wants to sit in the library nook and read on his own or use materials for the Kindergarten class, he can. Never is he prevented from doing the "fun" stuff because he's able to do harder tasks. He was even allowed to float between the reading group (older kids) and the letters group (kids his age) despite being the most advanced reader in the class. No one told him that since he can read he doesn't have a choice. He's encouraged, but never pressured. Since he very much likes to operate on his own timeline, he's thrived.

I can't say enough good things about this school. We plan to keep him there until he ages out in 6th grade. And I'm on the committee to start a middle school program there. We also based where we bought a house in relation to our commute to this school. If that doesn't tell you how much we love it, there's nothing more I can say.

After stumbling across the Montessori Method prior to moving to Huntsville, AL I knew that it was the best option for early childhood education. After touring the Montessori School of Huntsville I knew it was the only place for my 2 and 4 year old sons. The nurturing environment and the depth of knowledge of the teachers made it the only choice for our family. Now that they are 5 and 7 it continues to be an amazing learning environment for them. It provides rigorous instruction while encouraging their creativity and independence. Great school that I would recommend to anyone who wants their children to be prepared for the "real world."

We started at MSH two years ago and are well into our third school year. Every year, my son has grown by leaps and bounds. Due to the three year cycle espoused by Montessori, he had the same teachers his first two years and has moved into a new class this year with a range of ages. The transition went beautifully and he loves his new teachers and friends. He likes how the big boys and girls help him complete tasks and learning to do things on his own! The administration and staff of the school love and respect the children and it shows in the quality of the education. We are also very appreciative of the diversity provided by the other students and staff. As parents, we have found a home here as well with the tight-knit community and they myriad of opportunities available to all family members to get involved and help out at the school.

We enrolled my daughter in the toddler program when she was two. She is now approaching her fourth birthday and she is in the pre-primary program. It's tough (at least for me) to fully describe our experience. I can tell you it's great/wonderful/fabulous and I do feel that way, but I feel like you don't really "get it" until you see it. I didn't fully understand until I actually saw the classrooms and watched the kids in their environment. I encourage you to schedule a tour and spend 20 minutes or so observing a classroom. It is truly amazing! The school coordinates "Sharing Night," which allows parents to visit the classroom so their children can show them what they do at school. My little girl is always SO proud to show me what she does at school, and I am continuously astounded by the things she is able to do. I'm also incredibly grateful that she is experiencing so many different and interesting things every day.

A wonderful experience for everyone - our daughter has prospered there beyond all expectations we had. The teaching staff is well-trained and does not change over regularly. They are also compassionate, communicate very well and handle the children with care and structure. The experiences that are provided for the kids are amazing....gardening, cooking, even cleaning lessons are all on the agenda, in addition to a wealth of Montessori learning materials that the keep the kids engaged on a daily basis. Great mix of backgrounds and cultures. Beautiful campus - they are building the first outdoor classroom in the city. The only downside of the school is its location, being quite a drive from downtown Huntsville or Madison.....but in the end, we thought a few more minutes in the car was worth the care and mental/social/emotional nourishment our child gets at this school. We will be sending our second there, too, starting as a toddler. I can highly recommend it to anyone.

Public school teachers actually told our son to stop asking questions. I asked what he was learning in public school and he told me "The Rules." Maria Montessori would be thrilled to see the exceptional learning environment at the Montessori School of Huntsville. I've seen my son's self esteem and curiosity sky rocket thanks to outstanding teachers and staff. We could not be happier. The Montessori School of Huntsville is a community of involved parents and students who are excited to come to school every day. If you have any questions on the Montessori teaching method, you may want to read the Wall Street Article titled "Montessori Mafia." The most creative minds of today have had a Montessori background. Montessori fosters a lifelong love of learning and an ability to think and solve problems rather than just memorize answers for a test. Montessori is not only for preschool aged children. The school currently goes through the 6th grade and they are considering expanding into Junior High School. I will most definitely have my children at this school as long as possible.

A very well run Montessori School. The school is accredited and has a highly educated and caring staff. The two campuses are very different but both have their benefits. One is a more modern school (on Chaney Thompson) and the other is a more home like environment (Blevins Gap). The school starts at the preschool age but children have the opportunity to attend through Elementary. Most if not all of the children are reading very well while in Kindergarten!! The Elementary students appear to be learning very advance concepts at a young age. The Montessori method and the private school environment definitely has advantages. The tuition is high but not as high as many other private schools in the area. It is worth it to keep the good teachers on staff and low teacher/student ratio in my opinion.

The teachers and administration truly care of the students at this school. There interest is in learning and in inspiring the want to learn in the students. Students are taught using Montessori methods which encourage independence, love of learning, and kindness. As in any school there have been some push and pull between administration, teachers, and parents but all in all this school far out performs the public school system and other private school in the area. Montessori learning is not for every child but for those that learn well using hands on material and who can work at their own pace it is an excellent option.

Had two children go through and one currently enrolled. Saw more development with the two older children than what I see now. Thinking of transferring to another school for my youngest. The Board and Admin people seem blind to the current problems, unless you've seen how the two administrations compared. I do have to say the facilities are top notch, and the parent volunteers are the best you'll find anywhere.

This school provides a challenging yet loving environment for my daughter to thrive in. The school has wonderful, highly qualified teachers who follow the teaching philosphies of Dr. Maria Montessori and have enabled our daughter to read by age 4 and operate academically at a level far advanced for her age. This school does encourage a strong commitment from parents but we believe the school provides a strong benefit and have sent our daughter here for the past two years, anticipating at least two more or beyond depending on the availability of an Elementary program. There have been some recent issues surrounding the transparency of the school operations, but those are being actively addressed and will hopefully improve over time. As an overall view I highly recommend this school to any parent who wishes to provide a safe, diverse and loving education for their child!

We have had a wonderful time at this school! My daughter has learned and matured so much. I refer to MSH as the "Zen" school. There is respect shown in every aspect of the educational experience. My only complaint is I do not see the same quality of teachers between day and afternoon care.

This school used to be a wonderful, loving and peaceful community. Unfortunately, things have changed recently due to a change in administration. Parents and staff often do not feel confident that the Montessori way is being followed. Volunteers are often taken for granted. The school is supposed to be very 'transparent' in its operations and governed as a 'parent run community' yet decisions are rarely made in that fashion. It really is a shame.
