I have a son and daughter who have attended this school for five years. My daughter is in 3rd grade and my son, in 4th grade. My son is also autistic. They have some great teachers, and some not so great teachers. I used to think very highly of the school until this year,2026. My daughter was struck upside the head with a large rock during recess by a little boy, who obviously had the urge to start throwing rocks. Can you imagine getting a call from the school nurse explaining that your kid has been hit in the head from a rock,that a little boy “unintentionally” hit her with? I stopped working and immediately went to pick her up. She had a huge goose egg on her forehead and was crying from the time I picked her up,until dinner time -because of the pain. I took her to the ER,and the pediatrician the following business day, where they concluded she did indeed have a concussion and needed to sit the week out of school. The little boy who caused her to miss a week from school, and me miss a week from work, was in school the very next day, as if everything was fine. I made an appointment to speak with the principal,Cory. I didn’t agree with the punishment the boy had gotten. No in school suspension, no out of school suspension. His punishment was a “long talk about not throwing rocks”. My daughter has still not stopped having awful headaches from this incident. I now take her to a concussion specialist bi weekly. During my conference with the principal, he stated that this was “just kids being kids and he wasn’t gonna punish kids for making a simple little mistake like that. I informed him that I went to some pretty rough schools in Montgomery ones that I would never dream of mine going to,but one thing for sure. I never had to worry about a rock hit me upside my head while being at school, nor have I ever heard of that happening to anyone at school ever.this is not something that happens at every school. I also found out that this same incident had happened in my daughter‘s friend the year before by a different little boy throwing a rock which also went unpunished.so obviously this is a reoccurring problem at this school. This is not a once a 10 years type thing, this happens quite often. I do not feel my kids are safe any longer at this school and I’m just looking forward to the day that they are finished with the school and go onto the middle school so if you think your kids are safe here, you better think again. You better tell them to look out for rocks…

My experience with this school for the past 2 years honestly has been very below what I expected out of "such an exceptional school". Have discussed NUMEROUS times that teachers should follow IED guidelines and they don't, my son still gets marked off for things that in his IEP says specifically he isnt to be counted against for his grade. The front desk ladies are very untimely, called 2 hours in advance to have my son be a cart rider and he was still put on the bus because they didnt give his teacher the notice until AFTER bus riders were leaving. The amount of bullying at this school is RIDICULOUS and nothing is ever actually done about it, and if there is discipline its obviously not enough since the SAME students continue to do so. If I could have reliable transportation, i would seriously transfer to Weumpka Elementary just due to the better environment and the less amount of "GIVE US MONEY" that the PTO and the school in general does as well as the more family oriented events that WE hosts. Redland's "Read-A-Thon" is a JOKE and doesnt even reward the kids for actually reading. And every event only rewards the kids who bring in more cash instead of what the event is supposed to be about. It's honestly, disgusting how this school is ran and presents itself as more of a "give me give me money" popularity contest instead of an actual school that cares about the kids education. This school has been given SOOOOO much in grants and in funding but yet still not even a year after having a STATE OF THE ART all inclusive playground built out of a selected grant, they were asking for MORE money for a playground I honestly havent even seen built anywhere on the grounds. WHERE IS THIS MONEY GOING IF NOT TO THE KIDS???

If you are an active and participating parent, you will love this school. They do an excellent job in communicating through remind on a daily basis as to what the students are doing. All of my children's teachers also put out monthly calendars of their learning objections. This school is ranked as one of the best public schools in the state for a reason. Negative reviews appear to come from parents with children that have disciplinary problems, and if discipline children and educating them is something you oppose... perhaps this school isn't for you.

Not, a military friendly school. The principal to staff not very customer service oriented . When picking up your kids from the office Redland Elementary
Does not id everyone. Which I let the Counselor know, for safety reason everyone needs to be id. This school needs to be more diversified starting with race first and foremost.

The only people that think this is a great school have nothing to compare it to. Students have chrome books but all the programs used are monotonous & repetitive. Lots of busy work. Not academically challenging. Teachers behave as if following an IEP is optional. My special needs child was in 5 days of in school suspension the 2nd week of school. The teachers are just showing up & teaching to the annual testing. They use no creativity to engage & excite students. We are going back to private school next year

Homework is here and there. If it is given, the date due is not specific and it is often vague in direction.

Teachers at this school are very cold shouldered. My 8 year child had been attending the school for one week. She had come from another school that she had been attending in a state 800 miles away. They told me she "needed to get used to it" and within her first week of adjusting to this school, they wrote her up 3 times and she now has to see a psychologist in school. Teachers do not communicate with you and are often short. Example: I asked my childs teacher on how to improve her grades. She says "if she weren't visiting that counselor, she would have more time to learn." This is the counselor the school recommended.
No teacher has properly introduced themselves to me and have badmouthed my child to me via text calling her a "liar." The vice principal responded to this teachers behavior with "she is a great disciplinarian."

Vice principal had no idea how to help my 8 year old, principal has never called or had a conference with me on how to improve our student/school relationship.

My child has ADHD, she is constantly written up for very minor things.

This school has great staff and faculty. They do a great job of keeping the kids safe and have even won an award for having such high safety ratings. Teachers are easily accessible and communicative. I have not heard of any disciplinary or bad behavior issues nor anything that would cause alarm to parents leaving their children there for school.

My experience with this school was not great last year, but I think it was specific to my son's teacher then and his own personal problems. This year we have very high hopes because his teachers are great and the way they run the fifth grade classes teaches them responsibility without giving them too much to handle for their age group. I do think the some of the staff (including the principal) are actually too lenient on the kids who are misbehaving though.

The kindergarten program is awesome especially Mrs.Pyles.My grandson is starting first grade there today.I am sending prayers up for the students and teachers.
