This school allowed 2 teachers (who wasn’t my son teacher) to take my son away from his class and put him in a room alone to question him about outside situations that’s he’s not aware of also exposing pictures to my son and the school did nothing to the teachers but my son has to get transferred. School sucks. Lawsuit coming as well

I am a parent of a child from this school two years.. would not recommended these children aren’t cared for genuinely or cares about to actually get help to students with disabilities.

I never felt welcomed or comfortable and neither did my children. I had never experienced another school as a parent, but now that I have I know just how bad this school was.

I think pre-k did a good job of this, but the attitude of some of the teachers and staff was a very poor example to the kids.

The staff at this school was incredibly rude, which didn't help any of the issues. I had kids in several grades. One had to be taken into pre-k and my oldest had safety patrol on the other side of the school. It was a logistics nightmare, but she was yelled at for me dropping her off on the sidewalk closest to her patrol station. I had to pick up my son because he was sick and the front desk acted like I was a horrible parent for sending him to school that day. I felt very disrespected each time I entered the school.

If Principle Bonner is still there, he acts like he is scared of the bullys. He won't discipline the bullys but from what I've seen he will discipline your child if he\she stand up for themselves. Its totally weird as an adult to not put a stop to it.

I give it a 2 because kindergarten through 2nd was a great experience. The more I became involved, the more I witnessed broken adults over the kids.

There is no consistency with homework nor a huge focus on academics after the kid gets to 3rd grade. Some teachers do not give any homework.

Kindergarten through 2nd, yes. When the kid gets to 3rd grade, everything goes downhill. By 4th grade, move to another area. The kids have no true leaders in 4th grade. There were 2 good 5th grade teachers and one just retired.

Most of the parents develop this and the frustrating thing is when the kid goes to school to see the poor behavior of the so call leaders, it's counterproductive. Overall, the leaders of this school lack integrity, compassion, and respect. Therefore, they lack the skill set to provide to the kids. Some only like kids on their social media post but talk about kids in a violent way outside of school and yes this got back to one of the parents.

It appears that they expect every child to be the same and learn the same like robots. If the child doesn't catch on, he\she will get put in a corner. Overall, they miss the mark.

Teachers at this school are either overworked or incompetent, we can't tell which. They don't know how to effectively address issues with children, including screaming at them instead of observing and learning each child is different and sometimes different approaches need to be taken.

There are children who are bullied at this school every day and NOTHING is done to address the bullies. Instead, they label other children, and there's even signs up that tell children not to Tattle! How absurd is that?! Might as well have "snitches get stitches" up on the walls.

Again, at field day, I walked by a group of six 1st grade students, and I kid you not they were in a mini fight club circle and the one (much larger child) was chest to chest with a smaller child telling him "you don't want to go little man." I thought I was going to have to jump in the middle of a FIRST GRADE Brawl!

There's no consistency between classes with homework loads. One class gets 2 sheets, the other gets 4. It makes no sense. Not to mention, they don't send any instructions home to at least give parents a small clue as to what they are attempting to teach the kids.

Our child has encountered a lot of bullying at this school this year and although we have spoken with several school members, it has taken almost the entire full school year for anyone to address it in a manner in which my child can start to feel a little safer. While I am grateful that it has finally been addressed properly, I do not feel that it was in a timely manner as it literally took the entire school year. My child did not deserve to suffer the entire school year both physically and emotionally at the hands of several students. The communication between teachers and parents and even between teachers and other school members absolutely needs to be worked on. There needs to be better communication because I can guarantee that other children are being bullied and teachers and school members are not speaking up and addressing it properly.

While my child holds those qualities (in which we as parents have instilled in him/her) , many of the other students do not and their lack of respect for others is shown by the constant bullying and disrespect.

The teachers can be helpful if you take the time to communicate with them; however, even then, we don't always receive all information that we'd like from them. It's normally my child that informs me when something takes place that should have been addressed to us as parents directly by the teacher (ex: when my child gets hurt/ bullied). They do however keep you updated on your child's behavior through a folder sent home daily.

Our child receives a homework packet at the beginning of each week which is to be completed and returned by the end of the week. There are also spelling and other words to be learned throughout the week as well as reading each night. The homework is age appropriate and for the most part it reviews what is learned in class. Every now and then I do find some things in the homework packet that my child claims to never have learned, nor does it seem to fit in with the other homework pages given. Not sure if those are being chosen at random?

We've had a rough time at this school. Our child has been bullied by multiple children and it has taken us numerous times of speaking with several school members to finally get the bullying under control. I was really really hoping this school would work out for our family; however, I feel disappointed at the outcome.

A lot of problems in the beginning there was no parental Guidance to all the kindergarteners classes even though they said there was. They only let you walk your kid to class for the first two days which left my child wondering the school and scared and lost. Teacher did not help prepare their breakfast got mad when my son asked his teacher where his locker was on the second day she got mad. Keep in mind my son just turned 6 years old one month ago and this is his first experience going to school. His teacher complained to all the little kindergarteners about how she works too hard and she got angry when the kids ask for help. During PE my son came home upset because he was not allowed water during PE because the PE teacher did not want to ruin their floors. My son comes home with Filthy Hands he's already had a severe stomach virus and had to miss a week of school. His cheeks are bright red hair soaking wet in sweat because he is overheating at school. He has already been bullied and hit by another student. When my son had a stomach ache I was not informed so my son was at school all day with a stomach ache which was the beginning of his stomach virus that he had to miss a week of school from. I had to change his teachers and things are better but still he seems to be very depressed going to school. Considering homeschool.

Madison already came home upset because he was bullied and hit by another student and nothing was done about it from what my son told me he is in kindergarten and obviously the teacher does not pay attention because he was bullied and I have heard nothing from her about it

I had to change my son's teacher because of a lot of problems but the teacher he had in the beginning of School was piling all the kids up with homework at the end of the day and he's only in kindergarden. Seems like it was more like daycare at school and parents are left to teach the kids at home with tons of homework. After I change teachers he had less homework so it's better and his new teachers class.

My granddaughter attends Providence and she is being challenged in her education. She is given adequate work to improve her learning and skills. The teachers ar GREAT!

My daughter’s kindergarten teacher was very effective in making sure my daughter progressed throughout the year. She updated me on a daily basis on how my daughter was performing and behaving in class. The at home activities that were given to me and my child at least once a week were a plus, because not only did they give us the opportunity to spend time and interact together but they also made my daughter open to learning more. My daughter started off the year only knowing a few letter sounds, and by the end of the year she was able to read and entire book (an easy-reader book).

My daughter was in kindergarten and she didn't have homework per say but she did bring home activities to do with a parent such as create a poster, or practice reading the weekly book. I think it was appropriate work for the age level. Towards the end of the year, she did bring home practice math worksheets which I think were good because they were preparing her for first grade work.

The school is very good at providing updates or notifications on what events are taking place at the school. My daughter's teacher was also great at communicating with me about everything, whether it was my daughter's progress, behavior, or to even making sure her health was maintained while she was at school. (My daughter has allergies) The nurse was also very effective in making sure my daughter was taken care of properly.

Our son, is an above average learner. He comes from a humble one income military family Children who score on and above the 8th grade while in elementary school should be able to get out of class to an advanced course at least a few times a week to encourage continued growth and development. As the parent stated, my son is there because he has an amazing teacher, but I am extremely relieved that he is graduating this year and will not have to sit idle as others determine his level of excellence and potential to go beyond. In a more supportive environment and a teachers aid to support the class, my son could have possibly skipped a grade. I blame this on the administration, not the class, the teacher or my sons ability. THEY need to do something when they see test scores off the charts, not demand more and do nothing to support it. This school left a lot to be desired and does not compete with DoDEA schools. Any school that receives money from the military should be reviewed for special programs annually.

My child attends Providence. I had hope all the negative rumors about the school were not true, but they are. The only reason he is there is because he has a great teacher. She is the exception to such a terrible school. I will be putting my child in private school next year. The teachers at Providence spend more time disciplining students than teaching This school is awful from the moment you walk through the door and meet the front desk staff. They are very unprofessional from the way they look, act and dress. They have look as if your presence has inconvenienced them. The education at this school is dumbed down. They cater to a specific demographic of kids who have no reinforcement at home of getting a good education. As a taxpayer, I shoild not have to put my child in private school. Local leaders fail to realize no matter how nice the school looks and how many middle and upper middle class students you put in this school, if the majority come from poor neighborhoods, they are going to bring down the quality of the education. This forces the rest of us to seek alternative solutions such as homeschooling, private school, or moving to a better school system

We have 2 daughters that go to this school and we have had nothing but problems from this school the past 2 years. Most of the teachers don't seem to care about the children. Last year our oldest daughter got body slammed by a little boy for no reason and the teacher didn't do anything about it, we had to go to the school to finally get something done. That went on all last year with her 4th grade teacher. This year we could tell from the beginning that our youngest daughter's teacher didn't care for her at all. She told us that our daughter would be a better student if she was medicated. She will send out a weekly letter for homework but never send the kids home with any of it. The grades for our oldest never get turned in on time so the progress report is always wrong, she is a straight A student and will come home showing C's. The students have computers and are NOT monitored on them, they call look up pretty much ANYTHING they want. There are so many other things wrong with this school, I think the only positive thing about it is the office staff and a select few teachers.

Kindergarten are moving in a fast past.My son is in kindergarten and the homework is to difficulty counting by tens, and reading some of his homework sentence and draw an illustration is too much.he has 5 pages of homework to do, read a book. Not to mention fund rasier. Remembering his alphabet , colors shapes, address etc. and numbers on top the other assignments its to much for my son premenstrual born at 6 month 1 pound 3 oz he has slow developmentally skills keeping up with the class. His memory is delayed His teacher recommended for him to return to kindergarten. I am a Single working mom of two and see his slow learning disabilities and I get frustrated with helping him with the basic.I think its too many kids in his class about 24 how could the teacher get him the level where be needs to be when there is so much going on with kindergartens and one teacher, and one mom.

Watch out! The city school system forgot to tell you that there is not enough room in the school for the 6-8 grades so they get on a bus and go about 20 miles to Williams elementary in Triana. The bus is usually back to our neighborhood around 4:45 to 5:00 pm. I was hoping they would rezone the area. The zoning for this school is ridiculous, as we pass 3 schools to get to this one. We are moving this summer.

My daughter's kindergarten year was awesome. Her teacher is one of the best and she spoiled us!!! 1st grade was very difficult due to so much sickness and a bully issue that was never resolved despite several attempts and communications on my part. My daughter is very sensitive and is very much a people pleaser, so if she ever "pulled a card" she got upset. Her teacher called me more than once to calm my child down. I honestly think a teacher should be able to handle that situation. So far this year, like her kindergarten year, the teacher is awesome and so far so good!!! I'm not sure i agree with so much use of technology. I still believe in actual WORK rather than computers, iPads and the like. But I guess nothin can be done about it; it's just progress. Overall we're happy with the school, although it definitely could use some changes in staff and policies. The office volunteers are very rude and unprofessional.

I almost sent our daughters to a private school. I am glad I did not! The administration and teachers at providence are the most professional and organized organization. If they are organized and professional, I knew the children had to be. The entire campus is new, clean, and technology is all as it should be, being in a high advanced technology city such as Huntsville Alabama.Beyond my expectations...

Just moved to the area and registered my 2nd grader. Based on the registration process, I'm now very concerned. 1) completed the required forms on the website only to find out three were not needed even though they explicitly said "required for all new students" in the header 2) asked to fill out 3 additional forms when I got to the school that were not on the website 3) I was asked to fill these forms out on wooden bench in the entryway 4) I was also asked to sign a form stating that my son understood the rules/penalities for the use of electronic devices, but the administrator could not provide anything explicitly stating what the rules were. The bottom line is that although the administrator was polite throughout, I felt very unwelcome and felt the process was very inefficient. I will provide an update on my perception of teacher quality and parent involvement later.

When we initially moved to Huntsville 4 years ago, we had heard negative things above Providence; however, we found almost none of that to be true. Since Principal Bonner came in from North Carolina, there has been an unbelievable change in the pride and attitude of the parents, teachers, and students. There has been more affluence in this school over the past 2 years as nicer subdivisions have popped up north of Hwy 72, and I honestly think that has helped some too. Test scores have risen under his leadership as well. We're really happy and pleased with the changes and we have a few years left with our youngest at Providence. Hope this is helpful!

The administration had a bumpy start while the new principal settled in and made a few changes for the better. He is extremely professional and honestly cares that the children meet their educational needs. For the most part, the teaching staff is caring and concerned about the children in their classroom and test scores (for the most part) are demonstrating their success.

Still going strong. In spite of a slow start and some growing pains due to a major technology shift in Huntsville City Schools, Providence Elementary School and Middle School teachers deliver. Providence has an outstanding staff and our completely new administration is making changes for the better, particularly in their response to parent concerns and fostering a positive environment for student achievement. Academically our students are thriving. While we still need to grow our school community, I believe Providence is on its way to be a great school.

I have a son that has attended Providence Elementary for the past 3 years. Both my wife and I have been extremely satisfied with the quality of the teachers, staff, and facilities. I personally grew up in an outstanding education system, and will rate the quality of education my son is receiving to be at or above what I personally received. Every teacher I have had the pleasure of meeting has genuinely cared for his/her students. If I had to offer any criticisms, it would be that the school needs more parent involvement.

I am the parent of a incoming second grader at Providence. My son has attended Providence since Kindergarten. Kindergarten was such a wonderful experience for him and us! I thought it couldn't be topped, but First Grade proved me wrong! First Grade was just as great! Our teachers at Providence are dedicated, friendly, and love their students. The support staff is just as caring and dedicated! We are all super excited to start a new year!

I have 2 children at Providence Elementary, attending for the past 3 years. As a working dad, I am involved in their education without hovering. I do review my children's homework and tests to evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum, and I have engaged each of my children's teachers from K-3rd. This is a 4-star school for several reasons. First, the school's facilities are excellent: new, spacious and well-kept, with an excellent library, art / music program, and a good PE facilities / program. It is a healthy, orderly environment that supports learning. Second, the teachers we've had are outstanding: caring, dedicated, and committed to their students. Third, while past school administration was lackluster, the new Principal (cherry-picked from North Carolina) and Vice Principal are driving a NEW ENERGY at this school. With smart boards in most classrooms and iPads or laptops for EVERY student, I am pleased with the school's progress. A controversial districting decision zoned-in many low-income students and chased away some affluent families. Budget issues continue. My children have thrived, however. Don't believe the negative rumors. Go see - you might be surprised.
