Overall, James Clemens is a decent school. We get an hour of lunch to eat, study, or socialize. However, this hour is when staff supervision is at its lowest. It's the reason why so many fights break out every day. It's just a normal occurrence. The amount of fights and lack of supervision makes me concerned for my safety here. As for Academics...it's a hit or miss. Almost all the AP teachers are super passionate about teaching. Many of the non-AP teachers are coaches who spend more time coaching their sport than actually teaching. Sports here are prioritized wayy too much compared to the other things they offer. I understand that the South heavily favors sports, but this school takes it to another level. Pretty much every assembly/event is sports related. Favoritism towards student-athletes is blatant, while the students in the Arts are hardly recognized at all for their achievements. The Arts are basically ignored by the admin and they will often turn a blind eye to athletes discriminating and using slurs. There have been news stories of one sports team using homophobic slurs and only getting a slap on the wrist. Many similar incidents at the school are swept under the rug in order to maintain its reputation as a top school. In reality, they care more about test scores and their reputation than the mental well-being of the students. The district put up these QR codes for mental health resources, but they were on every visible spot on the walls, indicating to me that they only wanted to look like they cared, when in reality, they don't. Most of counselors aren't open to communication and you can't easily talk to one when you need them. I would say this school is decent, but I don't think they prepared me for college.

This school was fantastic before the new superintendent took over. Now, itÂ’s awful. The kids have only attended two full weeks of school in the past year. When they are in school, they do not attend the full class session due to unnecessary masks breaks. They are failing miserably online and the superintendent has absolutely no education plan to bring the kids back to the education level they should be at prior to him accepting the job. Every single week, he changes the school schedules without adequate or advanced notice. Do not move your kids to this district. It has been a huge disappointment and disservice to the children.

Fantastic school, so glad we moved into this school's district over some of the other options we considered. The school really goes above and beyond in their taking care of students, both in the classroom and in the athletic arena.

I can't say enough good things. My daughter had to be placed on homebound while at the school. The teachers and staff did all they could to keep her from falling behind in her credits. Only criticism is the lack of baton twirling in the extra curricular activities.

Our son has been able to take a wide range of Advanced Placement classes, as well as pursue competitive soccer. There are multiple extracurricular activities like Theater (award-winning). The school is fairly new but is already very good and getting better with students applying and going to competitive schools as well as getting scholarships and financial aid.

We moved from California to Madison specifically for this school. With all the new technology, exceptional teachers and a great principal, it's an excellent school!

My child used to attend Bob Jones and absolutely loves this school. This is her second (and senior) year and she has no regrets about making the switch. She said all of the teachers she has had at JC have seemed much more dedicated and into educating. They respect the students and make class fun! The school is state of the art with the latest and greatest in technology.

Great school with excellent academics and athletics. The rivalry with cross town Bob Jones is already intense and will be even better in the future.
