West Madison elementary school is now Midtown elementary school. They moved into a new building. The administration and staff in this school are outstanding! Honestly the best of the best schools in Madison city schools. Leadership sure does reflect, and Mrs. Demeester is an exemplary leader.
The inclusion at this school and care they inculcate into the students to genuinely care for each other is one I have never seen before.
The students are kind and support kids of all kinds. My son loves going to school and has learned and developed so well socially and academically.
Special education staff is incredible. They genuinely care about your child and do everything in their power to help them. Giving me hope I wasn't too sure of prior to him starting here. This school is a heaven sent
Y'all this school has the best staff. Mrs. Sellers, Mrs. Rush, Mrs. Massey. Just an awesome staff and administration. A very rare find to get the best of both worlds.

Only dealt with lower elementary so far and nothing significant can be noted on homework. I do not believe it is really needed at this young age but the amount assigned is not too high.

The teachers we have dealt with so far have been good and the kids have learned a ton. A lot of the teachers will communicate well through email or classdojo.

They have worked really hard with my child who has ADHD. They involve parents in decision making as well.

I have not dealt with this yet.

I think this school is a very good one especially considering what they are working with. It is one of the oldest (maybe the oldest) school in the city. The classrooms are tiny but the teachers make the most of it. The only real con in my head is that due to the size, they do not offer a lot of the extras other schools in this city do like father daughter dances, etc. The PTA is very good though!

Poor communication with parents. Lack of treating children individually.

My experience with this school has not been positive. My child has gotten a minimal amount of assistance in struggling areas and the teacher has lacked in communication. The concern from administration seems to be more on how they "appear" than how they are assisting individual students. Not impressed with Principal Jah. Seems mostly focused on her agenda.

Great school and love the teachers! Principal Daphe Jah strives doing more and more in their tiny little school. They don't have many students, but that's what I love about them. You can get to know each and everyones names and how they act and personality. WM has helped my child tremendously in the years he had been there. We are a military family so we move around a lot but am makes it easy for me. This is the best most living and kind school Madison City can have.

Our family loves West Madison! The administration and teachers are the best and the school truly feels like a family. Our child has struggled in the classroom due to ADHD and we feel 100% supported by teachers, counselors and administration. They have willingly utilized every resource to help us and our child perform his best.

West Madison Elementary is a wonderful school! My husband and I personally met with the principal prior to enrolling our child. She was a joy to deal with and was able to answer ALL of our questions and address ALL of our concerns! We've also noticed that our child's teacher responds promptly to emails. I'm not sure why Great Schools haven't increased West Madison's rating. Hmm.....Come on Great Schools..please read other schools evaluations because as of date they are scoring higher than West Madison and parents are obviously unhappy with adminstration. (Go Figure)!
