The teachers, principals, vice principals, and even SUPERINTENDENT DO NOT CARE about these kids. It is RIDICULOUS. A teacher getting into a 6 year olds face and none of them care what so ever. Took me 6 months to FINALLY meet his teacher after asking multiple times. The school just didn’t care. When I told them about my son coming home telling me his teachers breath smelt bad (he knew because she was getting into his face and yelling at him). So, next step was to call the superintendent. What did I get? “Sounds like you just need to switch schools” and that was the end of the call. This is absolutely unnecessary. They do not let the parents participate at ALL they just ask for money and everything else from parents but they will not let them participate in anything. Worst school possible.

We have had nothing but great experiences at MCES. My son just left MCES to go to 5th at SDMS. We had great teachers while he was there. Never had an issue with homework or communication from the teachers or Principal Snellgrove. The teachers and principal would send Reminds in the app, and I even reached out to the principal a couple of times on FB and she responded promptly. I wouldn't want my kids anywhere else. The school is very active in activities for the students, staff, and families! They post all of their fun on FB! They have family picnics, dress up days, staff lunch/snacks, ice cream trucks, activities for kids when they have perfect attendance/meet their AR goals, and field/fun days!

No homework is ever sent home. It’s no way to tell what your child needs more help on. No way to review with your child prior to a test. My child has been hit by kids numerous times. He says the teachers are usually talking to each other instead of supervising. This school does not provide extra help to students who may need it. The curriculum they chose to use is very confusing. I don’t even think the teachers understand it.

Teachers need more help with kids with learning disabilities. Maybe take a class on how to better help and understand them.

Kid is failing everything in school but no homework is ever sent home and no communication between parent and teacher on how to help. I dont understand.

The staff at this school are very rude to parents and students... my daughter told me that her teacher wouldn't let her use the restroom because they had just cleaned it & it took over night to dry .. also for punishment during p.e. she wouldn't let her get water. This place is ridiculous & after this year .. I'm done !

MCES is the absolute worst school I have encountered. My son started kindergarten August 2014 and from the beginning it was terrible. He was not enrolled in a class because of one missing paper in his file that they did not tell me they needed before they assigned him a class. On the first day of school he was late because of this and the teacher didn't seem too happy to be receiving another student. My so was constantly sent home with sad faces for talking too much. After he received about 4 sad faces in the first two weeks of school she threatened paddling without my consent. On top of this I found out that she takes snacks from them if they get in trouble. We pulled my son out and he is being homeschooled until we can move from this state. This school needs some serious turning around!

Every since our family has moved to Alabama, the schools are very different from where we came from. My son attends Midland City Elementary. He has ADHD an is very hyper at times,he suffers with extreme asthma. The staff is caring, in the words of my son "It's my home away from home". As a parent that's the best feeling in the world, to hear from child. Midland City Elementary is a wonderful school.
