Blossomwood Elementary has been an absolutely wonderful experience for our family. The teachers genuinely care about each student and go above and beyond to make sure every child feels supported, encouraged, and challenged. The staff is warm, responsive, and truly invested in creating a positive learning environment.

The school does an amazing job balancing strong academics with character development, helping kids grow not just intellectually, but socially and emotionally as well. Communication is clear and consistent, and it’s easy to feel connected and involved as a parent.

The sense of community at Blossomwood is something special—you can tell the families, teachers, and staff all take pride in being part of the school. It’s a safe, welcoming place where kids are excited to learn and grow.

We couldn’t be happier and highly recommend Blossomwood Elementary to anyone looking for an exceptional school!

We moved to Blossomwood this year and the kids adjusted quickly. The curriculum is a tad harder than the private school we transferred from, but they caught up and excelled quickly. The kids are all very nice and welcoming. We couldn’t be happier with this school. Don’t listen to the rumors about public schools. Give public school a chance. Blossomwood is wonderful.

My children are thriving at Blossomwood! Their teachers take the time to know them and learn what motivates them, and they have always been responsive to any questions I may have. My kids have made treasured friends here over the years and continue to meet new friends each year. They also enjoy participating in extracurricular activities, such as Peer Helpers, Math Team, Running Club, and Greenpower Team. Bonus points for Blossomwood being situated safely in the neighborhood so my kids can bike or walk to school without crossing any major streets.

Blossomwood is a gem of a school nestled in a beautiful neighborhood. My oldest started in Kindergarten and will graduate from 6th grade this year. My youngest still has two more years here. We have loved our time at this school!

The teachers and support staff work tirelessly to put the kids first and we have loved the extracurricular activities (Chess Club, Greenpower, Math Team, Student Council, and more). The PTA is top notch in providing support to teachers and organizing events to keep parents and families engaged. I do think it makes a difference of what you put into the school.

Of course, no school is perfect and Blossomwood is no exception. But I am continually impressed with the level of communication from the school to parents, and we have loved each of our teachers and principals (and the librarian is absolutely fantastic!). All in all, I am deeply thankful that my kids go to Blossomwood!

I have two children at Blossomwood, soon to be three! Our experience there as been great! I love that my children go to the school that I consider the heart of the neighborhood. My children have had attentive, caring teachers each year, and have both been very happy! They have grown not only academically, but also socially and emotionally due to their time at Blossomwood. The administration also takes time to know you and each of the children in the school. The school cares about not just the student in the building, but the family as a whole. In addition, after COVID the parent community has worked as a team to do great things for our school. There are so many ways parents can be invovled! This really is a special place!

Blossomwood Elementary School is nestled into the Blossomwood neighborhood close to downtown Huntsville the Huntsville Hospital. The administration, PTA, and teachers all love this sweet school and make it feel like a home away from home for the kids. They have pep rallies, festivals, frequent classroom celebrations, and special events like having service dogs visit the classrooms. I feel like my kids are getting a high quality education and are in a safe and nurturing environment. We love Blossomwood!

We are so thankful to be part of the Blossomwood family!

Leadership seems to be genuinely trying but the issues with the school climate are not easily addressed.

Posted: April 18, 2019

The teachers teach to the test and don't have much flexibility to adjust the curriculum to match different learning styles.

Posted: April 18, 2019

Bullying is addressed when reported but it isnt followed up on or closely monitored unless the parents press the issue.

Posted: April 18, 2019

We have been very disappointed in Blossomwood Elementary over the past 4 years. The student population has increased dramatically while test scores have plummeted. It is unfortunate that the issues are not easily addressed. Those who are able have moved their children to private schools. We hope things change.

As stated in other reviews, Blossomwood is rising above recent challenges presented by recent redistricting. At it's core, it has very supportive parents/PTA/neighborhood. This neighborhood will not tolerate anything but excellence from this school as it a large part of the support for higher homes values here. The principal, staff, and teachers have all been very responsive so far. The long tradition of excellence in a diverse environment here is continuing.

The school is going through a great deal of changes with its student population. There have been some growing pains but the teachers and administrators have done a great job in trying to ensure that the transition was as painless as possible. The principal truly has a heart for children. His caring personality shows through his conversation and the way he interacts with the children. If you're looking for a perfect school, you won't find one, but Blossomwood has done a great job of accepting the challenges and putting parameters in place to address those changes. The PTA and parent volunteerism at this school is phenomenal. It can only get better from here!

We moved to Huntsville in 2011 and into the Blossomwood neighborhood in 2012. Our daughter is in the pre-K program this year (2015) and she loves it and her teacher Mrs. Kirsch. We are new transplants to this area and have absolutely nothing negative to say. Since day one our long time resident neighbors have welcomed us into their homes and so have we. The school mirrors our neighborhood in that we all look out for each others homes, kids, pets etc. Blossomwood Elementary has a new principal Mr. Burton and he truly cares about the kids, teachers and parents. As a former elementary teacher I can not recommend this school enough to any parents considering the neighborhood or the school.

I am updating a glowing review I gave a few years ago. While it was a nice school for the first year, we found that we did not fit in with the student & parent culture of the school. We decided to move out of the neighborhood & into to an adjacent school neighborhood (Jones Valley) since we felt that Blossomwood involved parents & their kids were a bit closed-minded & biased to "outsiders", i.e., non-lifelong residents of the Blossomwood neighborhood. This was confirmed also by other fellow military & business transplants who moved their kids out of the school to avoid this as well. Leaving the school & neighborhood exposed my children to more warm & open-minded children who do not shun others for having life experiences or activities/tastes beyond their small-town neighborhood. My children have been in 5 different schools over 15 years of our military travels, I am an involved mom, so I suppose we are more sensitive to these type of environments than others.

Although I think the curriculum is great and most staff members are caring there seem to be at least one that isn't. We moved here mid year and are not happy with the teacher, not a caring or trusting learning environment. We will take our daughter out and homeschool her the rest of year if our request for a new teacher is not accepted. The principal does not return calls well and does not seem very open and involved, compared to our experience with other schools. Blossomwood has been so highly rated, that is why we chose this school, and we were not expecting this.

Blossomwood Elementary is an outstanding school that excels in both academics and truly caring about their students. We have been very happy with our child attending there. And the amazing programs they have to offer. It is one of the top 5 elementary schools in this area, if not the number 1 elementary school in our city. It is only one if 5 elementary schools in th state to start SAT testing in 2nd grade.
