As a Black mom, Im very thoughtful about where I place my child. I want an environment where hes supported, where teachers communicate openly with parents, and where young children are given patience while they learn. Unfortunately, that was not our experience here.

For months, we were not told that our son wasnt speaking much in the classroom. The first time it was brought to our attention was only after biting incidents began happening. What was especially concerning to us was that our son had previously been bitten himself, and the biting behavior only started after that. Earlier communication would have allowed us to partner with the school and address things sooner.

The school later suggested an evaluation. The results were eye-opening for us. On the paper-based assessment, our son performed ahead developmentally. However, the observation portion raised concerns about how he was interacting in the classroom environment. It appeared that he had largely shut down at school.

Based on what we later learned and observed, it often felt like our son was spoken to and corrected much more sternly than other children his age. While I cannot speak to anyones intentions, the experience left us feeling that he was being treated unfairly and that the classroom approach was not supportive for him.

Ultimately, we made the decision to remove him from the program. When we arrived the next day to pick him up, his belongings were already packed. We did not receive a follow-up conversation, note, or any expression of care about his departure, which was difficult after trusting the school with our child.

Im sharing this so other parents especially Black mothers feel empowered to ask early questions about how concerns are communicated, how toddler behavior is handled, and how schools partner with families when challenges arise. Our children deserve patience, transparency, and care while they are still so little.

I cannot praise Children's House enough! They have been absolutely wonderful for both my boys (age 4.5 attending for 3 years, and age 2.5 attending since 3 month old). My kids love everyone on staff and are loved by them. They use the Montessori method to teach the kids independence and a desire for learning from a young age, and I can't imagine a better way for my children to learn. The staff is easy to communicate with and dedicated to making the school as safe and happy environment for all. It feels more like dropping them off with family than childcare workers.

This Montessori school is horrible. They are understaffed and the staff they do have is subpar. The director is not even a decent educator. She hires her daughters to teach in other classrooms. If you dont count the family members that work there then their teacher turnover rate is really high. I wouldnt consider their staff very well trained or educated. They didnt seem to know anything about child development outside of what a high school babysitter would know. The biggest behavior problems were not with the students.

Childrens House was our daughters first home away from home; she has been there three years. She has been happy at CHMS and is close with many of the teachers. Its been great to see her thrive and build social & life skills at the school.

We love CHMS. Both of my children have attended. Yesterday, my 3 y/o daughter made a mess in the kitchen. She immediately went to the closet, got her broom, and swept up her own mess. The life skills and communications skills they have learned at CHMS make life easier on this working mom. Both of my kids LOVED their teachers.

I grew up going to CHMS through 3rd grade and all 3 of my children attended. Our experience at CHMS was wonderful and my children thrived academically and socially.

Our three-year-old son has been at CHMS for almost two years now and we absolute love it. His knowledge, confidence, physical, and verbal skills have all thrived. The teachers and administrators are all very sweet and communicate regularly via emails, newsletters, and in person. The lead teachers are Montessori certified and attend continuing educational workshops and seminars, so I'm not sure about the previous comment about it not being the true Montessori method. There is set curriculum that is child-led, as Montessori should be play-to-learn, which is how children learn best at the toddler and preschool age. Our son already knows his numbers, letters, continents, planets, animals, and multiple Spanish words. My husband and I are both faculty at UAMS so education is obviously very important to us. We have been nothing less than extremely satisfied with our son's experience thus far.

All of my children attended this school and made excellent transitions into public and parochial schools when they got older, Currently I have grandchildren in this school. Teacher turnover is very low and I am impressed wth the number of National Merit, Presidential and Rhodes scholars who attended this school not to mention hundreds of well-adjusted successful college graduates over the past 45 years

Teachers go out of their way to communicate with parents what they observe with each child and try to keep everyone doing the same things going at home and at school. So the child is not confused.

This where the reason why I did this review comes in. As a Dad, it is important that my children are respectful. I recently read a review on here that was obviously done by someone that didnt like what they got out of it! But if someone was firm about something we have seen parents that were not happy because their children were not catered to that did not want to follow the rules or try And understand them, thats not what kind of School Montessori is.

It is a family owned school. The school has been around since before I was born. The new director is the Daughter of the Director who is still employed and teaching full time. All of the children in our family have attended the school. We have one there now. Most of our friends children have attended. We all have a healthy respect of the leadership that has carried on there.

The Experience is great if you know what kind of education you are looking for for your child, And I just have to say about the dirty playground remark. Montessoris are supposed to be natural environments and the family has two commercial lawn and landscaping businesses. Its not dirty :) Its that way to explore, grow gardens, and play not to be covered in asphalt.

It is terrible. They were used to have a good reputation. That's the reason we sent our kid there. The new director looks nice. But, she is actually rude. When our kid was bitten, she said every kid will be bitten. It was not their fault. When we told her we were not comfortable to let our kid stay with a certain teacher alone. She said why you want to send your kid here. We pay them to take care our kid. She is also lacking in leadership. Do not know how to pick up the right teachers. She also did not know how to deal conflicts between parents and teachers. The turnover rate is pretty high. They changed the lead teacher and one co-teacher within 4 months. The new teacher is rude. She brings her negative emotions from her personal life to classroom. Her tone lets you feel your kid is really terrible. Several parents talked with the director, she did nothing about it. In turn, the rude lead teacher sent a long text message to defend herself. The director yelled at parents. Besides, the school is not clean. No one takes care the fallen leaves on the playground. When we found all these bad things, we withdrew our kid right away. Before all those things happened, I did find wired things, when I dropped my kid in the morning. Mom's hunch is always right.

Not a true Montessori approach. Leadership does not understand how to teach children to reach their full potential. Inconsistent approach to discipline. As a Director of a well-known Montesssi school I was excited for my grandchildren to attend here. Very disappointed.

This is our first year at The Children House Montessori School and really enjoying. My son is 3 years old and I recommend this school to everyone.

I have been associated as a parent/grandmparent at this school for over 24 years. At no time have I ever felt uncomfortable dropping my son/grandson off in the morning. Entering the building leaves no doubt that this is a true montessori environment. Everybody achieves with greatness here. I am amazed daily at what my grandson is capable of and how eager he is to show. I am a public school teacher and sad to say we don't compare. This place has integrity and tradition.
