LISA West Middle School is doing a wonderful job this year. They have a new Dean of Academic's and Dean of Students who have been a wonderful addition to LISA West Middle School. They are making sure every child works to reach their potential. They are supportive of every students needs.

When i tell yall this school is horrible it is one of the most stressful things a parent can go through. This year was my childs first year there and wont be going back again!! It was teachers bullying my child calling him and his classmates pathetic and worthless and calling the parents a disappointment and every since i addressed this situation towards them they have been on a 1 with my child and watching him close every little thing he did they would call me it got to the point where i just stopped taking him to school for a week and taught him at home. This is his first week back and theyre already tryna find a reason to suspend him. And not just that yesterday my child told me that a student was touching on him so i will be addressing that today once i pick him up! I highly dont recommend lisa at all.

I strongly recommend Lisa Academy West Elementary and Middle schools, as my kids attended them . Now they are in Middle school. We just move to USA only 3 years back and ppl here told me that Lisa Academy is best for my children, and it proved to be true. Teachers and staff here are very supportive and helpful. Yesterday the Principal Mr. Fuat Bakisli and his wife Mrs. Bakisli (Maths teacher) they visited our house as part of Lisas policy. Both are very well educated, well mannered. They are well informed about the best interests of students and how to work that through technology as well. With their knowledge and guidance Lisa will certainly prosper and its students would be able to show great achievements.

Horrible unsafe school, this school has a major bullying issue. Staff are unprofessional and try to cover up incidents. When you ask questions to try to understand whats going on, they lie. I would not recommend the school to anyone that loves their children. The school is one of the worst.

BEWARE MAJOR Bullying problem!! Bad idea sending my kid here since day one he has been bullied and nothing was or has been done. The math teacher for the 7th grade child goes here who goes there threatening my child with a gun! Nothing was done to him after several other students heard him. Now my child has been attacked and I cant even get a call back from the principal. Lack of communication from staff. If you love your child DONOT Send your child Here!!! The teacher will not respond to your emails concerning your child academics!! Just overall a terrible school.

The principal, Ms. Baroni, truly cares about students and does everything in her power to keep things running smoothly. I worked with her closely on the PTO and she was wonderful to work with.
Posted: March 26, 2018
Depending on test scores, my kid was placed in classes with students who were on her level and vice versa.

My daughter often thought she was stupid because of the way they class students from A-F. Strongly disagree with this type of grouping. And as I already stated she was bullied and had very little response or encouragement from teachers afterwards.
Posted: December 14, 2017
My child was bullied here till I withdrew her, physically in school, then emotionally at home to the point it effective her eating. She is very healthy and friendly. The administration did very little to stop this so I had to take action myself. Reflection of very poor leadership.
Posted: December 14, 2017
Again with the way they class students. My daughter also has an IEP, and I was very unhappy with their special education department. My daughter had the lowest grades of her school career at this school. Completely unacceptable for a child with a learning disability.
Posted: December 14, 2017
Im not a fan of the ESchoolPLUS application. The assignments dont show until after its graded. But I also felt they didnt encourage my child to write her assignments. In her previous school it was written on the board for her so this was the system shed become used to, then nothing.
Posted: December 14, 2017
I did like the personality of some of her teachers, others were friendlier and listened to my concerns. Others never responded to my emails and showed little interest in my daughters education.

-0. This was the worst school experience Ive had in 10 years with my 3 children. I would never recommend this school to anyone.

This is the BEST Charter School in Arkansas. They teach Positive Reinforcement daily. They care about their students and parents. They involve the parents in every aspect of their teaching. They set goals for ALL the students to go to College. This school and staff CARES.

You cant understand any words the Turkish teachers say. And they get mad when you try to correct them or ask them to repeat their self.
Posted: August 17, 2015
They dont have any balance between school and life. They over do the students, with WAY to much homework.
Posted: August 17, 2015
This school is AWFUL. There is no organization at any means. The teachers are rude and hard to understand. They also let the kids no and say whatever they want. I would not recommend the school to anybody. They need better discipline than a stupid point system.
Posted: April 23, 2015
I've subbed at numerous schools, and Lisa is by far the worst place I've ever been. Teachers have no control of the students, there is no organization, and everyone acts like thugs. Do yourself a favor and never send your loved ones there.

Lisa Academy is a great school for some students but not all students. The administration will tell you they do not put up with bullying and that is true for some students but not all students. Unfortunately we experienced bullying and threats cyber and verbal and it was so bad our student no longer wanted to go to school. Sixth grade was bad but seventh has been worse for our student. When students who are on school property are allowed to use foul language and treat adults with disrespect and when you let the administration know about it NOTHING AT ALL happens it is time to move your student to another school. The teachers are not all that great. If you want to get a response you will have to CC: the principal or your email may or may not get a response.

Lisa academy is not what it used to be. If my daughter wasn't almost finished I would Pull her out. I don't care what you hear if you send your child here you will regret it.
Posted: January 4, 2015
LISA Academy is one of the best charter in the state. LISA cares a lot about students and curriculum that students are following. They care about the diversity. If you have a child K-12 setting you should definitely think LISA as a first option.

GO TO LISA NORTH IT IS MORE ORGANIZED, FUN, AND SMARTER, AND MORE RESPECTABLE. TEACHERS AT LISA WEST HAD THEIR CHILD TO LEAVE BECAUSE THE SCHOOL WAS SOO UNORGANIZED I WENT BACK TO HENDERSON BECAUSE OF LISA WEST. NORTH IS THE BEEEESSSST!!!!
Posted: October 7, 2014
My son is in his 5th year at LISA and it is a wonderful school. LISA West has a very caring staff. If you do not want your children to learn and be college ready, don't send them to LISA. They do not tolerate bullying or bad disciplined children. Go to Henderson or Hall if you want to act a fool. I will be sad when he graduates next year, but he walks away ready for college and the REAL world. And he will be somebody. I recommend LISA to parents who care about their children's education and their future in this world. It's not OK just to graduate. It is ok to go forward and make something of yourself and that is what LISA does.

All those who said that Lisa was five star and terrific that was 2011 it's 2014 and let's say it has changed a lot. It is one of the worst schools I have been to. It is too small for the large amount of students they have and unorganized. Last year In some classes students had to sit on the floors! They also make students pay for a lot, but know one really knows where the money goes. For example they make students pay for expensive cheap quality uniforms. Some teachers are hard to understand due to accents and are ridiculous! One year I had a teacher who sent students to the office to call parents to bring them a belt! A belt, just because handbook requires students wear a belt students must waste valuable class time to call their parents and waste the parents time too! Lisa is a terrible school don't send your kids here.

I was a former student in Lisa Academy who attended 6th-7th grade in 2011. Honestly when I attended this school, I thought the system was really out of place. But now that I moved to Texas, I realized how Lisa was an amazing school. First, it is really good for your child because usually there aren't "grouping" in students. Because it is a small school, everybody knows each other and get along pretty well. There aren't any 'cliques' or 'popular kids' to start out with. Also this is a really smart school. It has all the smart students and the teachers always keep them busy with tests, homework and assignments. I knew I hated it then but now it really helps me manage my times wisely. And because everybody works hard in class and home, nobody is labeled 'nerd' nor 'geek'. But there is some things that I really wished they had - money. Also because it is a small school, they lack in funds and activities. They do not have parties or "dances" regularly, and it is really rare to go on field trips. They also do not have any proper sports team that we could join. Overall it was an amazing school.

LISA Academy is a fine school. The total number of students in each grade level is lower that the bigger local high schools. This allows each teacher to know all of the students in the grade level. There is one administrator that only deals with discipline. The teachers are empowered to use the discipline system in their own classroom, refer students for more serious issue, and a discipline committee meets to more fully evaluate serious infractions. The dress code is reasonable and helps parents (especially of girls.) The seniors at LISA Academy have special privileges! There is a senior staircase for seniors and teachers only that allows the seniors faster access. One of the seniors wrote a satirical essay about the staircase that was published in the 2013 Arkansas ACTELA Anthology. The seniors are also able to wear a special Toggery shirt. This year, 4 Ph.D's teach at LISA. LISA is a beacon of hope. As a parent of two young men who graduated from LISA Academy, I highly recommend this school!

This is the worst school my child has ever attended. Because it is a charter school, the teachers are not trained classroom teachers and can not teach yet they pile an unmanageable amt of wk on the kids. The teachers teach to the smart kids and leave the others to fail. The children do not have textbooks at the LR campus, yet NLR does. There are too many kids for such a small facility which is a safety and health concern. I believe Lisa Academy invests most of its resources in the NLR campus. The federal funds rec'd per student is invested back into the NLR campus while the Little Rock campus is left dirty, with no books, and out of control with discipline problems and bullying. Lisa once had a great reputaton but now the new management has changed it for the worst.

My son went here for seventh grade.. He was grouped with the most uncontrolled group of kids because of how he scored on his test. So you can imagine with him having ADHD being distracted all the time and not being able to participate in any sports he did not do well here. He didnt pass math and Social studies so they wanted him to repeat the grade. The curriculum was rigorous with homework everyday and every weekend.. Multiple projects worth and obscured amount if points. He complained repeatedly about not understanding the foreign staff. They had a nice music teacher and a nice counselor and Spanish teacher .. The rest of the teachers drove him down the entire year. The disciplinary system was tedious so you find out every time you kids chews some gum. They have mandatory tutoring that does not help with school work so your kid will have to stay late when he needs to be home doing a pile of homework . The study guides they hand out are vague not letting the kid know what content will actually be covered on the test. He did develop a string relationship with his classmates because he was with the same group in every class. Traffic is horrible!!!! West campus

This school is terrible. I was a former student there for 7th and half of 8th grade, and I had terrible years there. Most of the teachers have the lack of English skills, but TEACH ENGLISH. Also, the languages you learn at the school are totally unimportant, such as turkish. Sure, the diversity is amazing in the school, but the way the school groups the students is awful. The schedules look like they threw darts at a board, and they group the students by intelligence. If you group a bunch of higher scoring kids together, they're going to think they're better than everyone else! Basically, bad students, bad teachers, bad curriculum, bad school.

I am a student for this school and i hate it. People say you get good grades but really its just because most of the teachers pass us and never give us real work, unless its a core class. You are grouped up by how smart you are and you can probably guess how mean kids are if you aren't in advanced class. It is an okay school for science and math, but besides that, it is horrible. You really have no chance of a decent social life.
Posted: October 26, 2012
I no longer recommend LISA Academy to anyone. Their scheduling is a joke and student academic support this year (2012-2013) for my 8th grade daughter is non-existent. There are textbooks in class, but none for the students' use and no other resources readily available for most classes for students to use at home. On scheduling, my daughter has 5 different classes that she has only once a week each. How exactly do the students learn anything going only once a week? Why is PE only once a week? Students need more physical activity than that. I will be pulling my daughter out of LISA as soon as possible, and not looking back.
