As a parent, I had high hopes for Westwind School for Performing Arts, but unfortunately, our experience was deeply disappointing. The school struggles with effective communication, leaving parents in the dark about important updates and changes. This lack of transparency creates confusion and frustration.
The school environment is chaotic, often disrupted by events hosted at the venue during school hours. These interruptions displace students from their regular learning spaces, to eat lunch in alternative spaces, and with access to only two single-use bathrooms and no water fountain available. This is unacceptable.
The administration displays a concerning bias toward anyone who raises questions or concerns. Rather than fostering open dialogue, this attitude contributes to a toxic school culture where students and parents feel unheard and unwelcome.
Westwind is also severely understaffed, with high turnover among both staff and students. This instability affects the quality of education and continuity of learning. It often feels like the school is more focused on optics and public perception than on providing a solid educational foundation.
Sadly, my child left the school unprepared for high school and is now struggling academically.
I would CAUTION other families to look elsewhere if theyre seeking a stable, supportive, and academically rigorous environment.
