This school could definitely be better than what it currently is. Bullying is a real issue at this school and a lot of it is swept under the rug or incidents are not considered as "bullying"--according to the definition that something has to happen to more than once. If I was not so concerned about my child's safety, maybe the experience would be better due to the fact my student does enjoy the STEM activities offered. I can also attest my student has been introduced to opportunities that may not be offered at schools with a lower budget. His teachers, for the most part, have been great in how they respond to my student and maintain open communication with me. I think no matter how many positive things I could point out about the school the safety of the students and the uncheck bullying that persists there is very concerning. Furthermore, to come on this platform and see other parents are having the same issues is truly alarming.
Hopefully someone from the school comes and sees these reviews and do a real deep dive on what could be done to correct this before it turns into a chaotic situation.

I have two children in this school and think it's a great elementary school. The teachers really care about helping the children learn and encourage them in all areas. It's very competitive academically with other elementary schools in much more affluent areas of Little Rock that seem to have a lot more community resources. The administration, even though it has changed over since we've been there, has always been supportive and very welcoming.

There is fights and bullying everyday. I don’t recommend this school if you are Hispanic, there are a lot of bullying

Best school in Little Rock. The teachers, administration, staff, parents, all feel like family. I would not choose another school in Little Rock. The Campus is beautiful and the activities that the PTSA put on allow us all to feel more connected. I tell my pumpkin, you can't get away with much, I know everyone if something isn't right. If she's sick one day at school, I'll get a message if pumpkin is okay from her teacher if not from one of her BF parents. It's like a family. They don't get straight up in your business, but the caring is real. My best advice.. As soon as Open Enrollment happens, apply. I think this is a gem in the LR district that not a lot of ppl know about because of how it changed about 4 years ago.

2nd grade teachers are doing stem projects that we can work on for a month. It requires a lot of thought and attention for the child. Very effective. So much more than paperwork.

My daughter is in 2nd grade. She is excelling and I love the tests that they give that are more about how she's developing rather than how she's rated against other students.

This school is very mixed re: race, religion, and household income level. Everyone is treated equal. My daughter has a clear view of life going to this school.

LOOOOOVE the administration at this school. They know each student by name and greet them as such when they see them. They are very involved with the students and parents.

Yes. I'd have to give you specific examples, but my daughter is an advanced reader. The 2nd grade teachers have figured out a way to work together where they can put groups together in different classrooms for reading work where the other students that don't feel they are up to speed, don't feel left out.

I don't see it. But my daughter is in 2nd grade. All of her classmates are her friends. Actually, all of the classes from K to now have been effective on trying to address this by switching students to different classes at grade level changes when they know there are issues. If there were actual times where I felt this was a problem, I would address it specifically with the teacher and go from there (and I have) and it was addressed with the next grade level change. Otherwise they have separated them into different groups/table changes when concerns arise. And TBH, the teachers here do it on their own when they see it.

My son's are now in 1st and 2nd grade for the 2016-2017 school year. They both attended kindergarten here. Since the school was changed to the STEM program; we have had a wonderful experience. The staff receives parent suggestions, the PTSA is top-rung, and 90% of the parents are very involved. The school also sends home EXTRA optional work to involve the kids in engineering, science, and coding. We love our school!

We chose to have our oldest child start Kindergarten here at FHSA this year and I am SO glad we made that decision! Any staff that we've ever had interactions with have been positive and fruitful. I absolutely LOVE the way critical and creative thinking is implemented throughout all of the subjects and I appreciate the hands on approach that the teachers have. My favorite example is when they were doing the story of the The Three Little Pigs for literature, they then were asked to construct houses out of various materials (graham crackers, marshmallows, etc.) emphasizing the engineering aspect of their curriculum. Then, using the scientific method, they made hypotheses about who's would stand/fall and why. This is one of MANY examples of the multifaceted approach they use towards reaching. I am very proud to have my kiddo in this school and I look forward to his younger siblings attending when they reach school age.

Thank you to LRSD for taking a failing school such as the old Forest Heights (2 years ago) and turning it into a thriving, successful school that is NOW Forest Heights Stem Academy. We moved our son over from another middle school in the area to start his 7th grade year at FHSA - he loves it! We now have an 8th grader and a 6th grader at FHSA. The middle school teachers are top notch, communicate with the parents and CARE for their students. FHSA admin, staff and students are among the best in the Little Rock School District.

FHSA has been such a nice alternative to other middle schools as well as private schools. Little Rock is very fortunate to have this school turn around and even more fortunate that our kids are able to be around a positive environment at FHSA! Quality teaching and learning environment at FHSA!!!

This school has really changed since the conversion to a STEM School. The administration, teachers, parents, and students are all committed to making this a great school for the LRSD.

Forest Heights has changed alot in the past year.The foul launage is gone,the discipline is in good shape and the teachers are in control of their classes.To all the people out there who thinks Forest Heights Stem Academy is the same school it was last year well it isn't so I would appreciate if you would stop writing bad reviews.

This is an almost horrible school there is at least one fight a week, and teachers have almost no control of their classes. Lots of foul language. If you want to learn this is not the place to go. The students are so wild that you would get no learning done. There are a few great kids and if you hang out with them it can be a good experience at the school. But for the most part I don't think it's that great of a school.

My older daughter attended this school two years ago, and now I have a younger one who has been placed in this school. With the reviews below, I can concur and am now VERY concerned. Be prepared to be both the parent AND the teacher for your child.The teachers were confrontational, the priniciple didn't respond unless I contacted the superintendent. And even then she would rush your concern, and promise to get back with you.....which she never did! The counselor is a gossip . My child's grades declined, and one class was even allowed to go for about 5 months with a new substitute changing weekly, while the entire class failed! And again, it wasn't until I threatened them with a federal act that something happened. I might just bus my child to Maumelle instead of dealing with this.....NOT A GOOD SCHOOL!

My son attends this school, and I could not be more disappointed. If you are looking for a good school, look beyond Forest Heights. The teachers are rude,and do not seem concerned about the learning process of its students. Check their scores.
