This school is not supportive at all. Things are constantly happening and they do not call to notify. Also instead of being supportive they laugh at the students during performances. This past year has not been the best for my daughter. The constant bullying and I am not pleased with them. If I could move her I would. I am just disappointed in a school that I was told was very good and they are not.

This school is disappointing, and this comes from someone who teaches in the district. My daughter attends this school, while I teach at another school in the district. I am also a single parent who lives 30 minutes outside of the district. My daughter and I commute every week day to this district. Recently I had to have an emergency surgery that leaves me unable to work. I am unable to drive, and my doctor advises against it while I recover. Though my daughter is a gifted and advanced student, the school staff is unwilling to provide materials for my child for her to complete assignments at home, nor will they excuse her absences. They told me I may be subject to prosecution due to truancy, but if I write a parent note they would “consider it”. Again, I am a teacher in this same district, a fact they are aware of. I have expressed clearly that I didn’t want my illness/recovery to disrupt my child’s learning, though I unfortunately am unable to bring her to school for the time being due to the limitations brought on by my surgery. They told me they don’t excuse absences for students due to the “typical illness” of a parent. Ridiculous, callous, and a lack of regard for the families they serve. This is just the last straw to what has been an underwhelming experience with the staff at this school. Sadly, I do not think my child will be attending this school next year.

The bullying is the worst I ever seen at a school. Another child told my daughter he was going to "kill her among other things.They told me my child could be removed and put into another class. Why move my child and not the child that is bullying my kid? I was told it Would be taken into consideration and wasn't guaranteed that she the principal would have to ask the child's parents .Also we can make sure we do not have them sitting next to one another and keeping a eye on him and her . And making she she knows to tell a adult when he has done or said anything to her!yes, I have done and gone through proper channels and made a police report! My point is don't send you child to this school, if you're child gets bullied,they will don't do anything! I have more to say , but there isn't enough space!!!

While the teachers and every other staff member is freaking amazing, the principal is terrible. While she is a very educated and looks to fit the part she has no business being able to have any control over another human being. Teacher, student or volunteer. My little boy is dyslexic and struggled in every school before this one. Indian Hillls changed my son's life! He has a positive attitude about school and genuinely loves being there. The teachers and staff are beyond amazing...I cannot say enough good about this school!

They have homework M, Tu & Th in most every class. I think it's important to have 1 night off & Wednesday is perfect since it's the middle of the week.

I feel like the administration does a fantastic job of making their stiudents accountable for their actions. Even if a child did wrong they are praised for their honesty, which I believe is critical when establishing fairness across the board. The administration has very struck guidelines established. Therefore, regardless of who the person is or isn't the teachers & administration follow the set guidelines to handle any altercation in a fair manner. The teachers actually teach the definition of integrity long before the kids can say it correctly, much less spell it, by being an example through their own actions of what a person w/ character looks like.

Communication is key. Teachers keep us informed on a daily and weekly basis. The school makes a point to create fun activities for the kids & parents.

Low teacher:student ratio. They have a lot of aides that help with the classes. We've been here for 4 years and have always been impressed with the level of care and knowledge from the teachers. The Principal and VP are very hands on and know the kids. It's rare to walk through the school and not see them, even before and after school pick up. There is also a lot of parent and community involvement. Even those that do not have children at the school but live in the area come to support the events, like fall fest. I am very proud that my son goes to school here. We looked at a couple of private schools and felt that this was our better option.

I'm also one that believes in holding the parent(s accountable as well. I firmly believe that the more the parent(s) is involved with the child, completing homework, and keeping an open line of communication, the better experience their child will have and the more they will learn.

They all have such a positive attitude and they love those kids and really want them to do their best. And not once have I heard a teacher complain at Common Core. They speak about how they are changing and growing and learning with it as well. They say that if they have a bad attitude about it, then their students will too.

Often times my child is able to get his homework done in class. If it's sent home, I know that I can email, call or text his teacher after school if I have questions and they will respond!

They hold the children accountable for their actions. Starting in 3rd grade, the children become "Big Buddies" to the K-2 graders

My son started kindergarten this year, and he's really excelling at Indian Hills. The principal, teachers, staff, etc. have all been very helpful. It's a great school and we look forward to the years to come!

My children have both done well at this school. They have improved each year, and are on track to succeed in their future educational experiences. I find this school to be a diverse blend of students and teachers. I highly respect the administrators, and enjoy the parent-teacher partnership at this school.

I struggled to even give this school Any stars, because they have Not shown Any improvement with my child?! This is even After going to the N.L.R. School district for help?! This was because the teacher herself was embarrassing & bullying my child, & Nothing was being done about it?! This is Soo Wrong, that it is hard to even Believe?!

My child attended this school since 1st grade, when we weren't dealing with bullying, we were dealing with poor grades, and lack of attention to these issues. After 2 years of expressing concern about my childs academics and why she was being passed to the next grade when she obviously wasn't grasping the curriculum properly in 5th grade we finally got some feed back with a test that said she fell below basic in 3rd grade! No matter how hard we strived to help her succeed at home the school turned a blind eye to the issues and passed her without ever questioning, changing, adapting to help her until it was to late. She will inevitably enter middle school in inclusion classes even after one half of a year they actually tried (dumbed down the work the work instead of helping her reach the appropriate level) This school and it's special needs classes make sure that a child scrapes by instead of succeeds. If I could take it back I would sent her somewhere that put forth an effort for my childs future instead of allowing her to struggle which just led to more bullying and self doubt and poor self esteem. Thank you Indian Hills for leaving no child left behind...

The Principal and teachers like to fit all kids in to the same box. There are a few teachers there that genially care, but you can defiantly tell there is an "in crowd" that gets special treatment.

It is in my opinion, that this school has a severe bullying problem. If you do not want your children to be bullied I advise you select a different school. The teachers and principal do not like to discuss these issues, much less resolve them. However, if you are VERY involved with your child's school (aka "home room parent") you will not have any problems at all. Beware...this school is very political, and often times prejudice against lower/middle class families. God bless the few teachers at Indian Hills Elementary who actually do care for their students and their future; for they are few and far between!
