As a parent, I’m honestly very frustrated with this school. Since the new administration took over, everything seems to revolve around state testing instead of what kids actually need. It feels like constant test prep, and real learning and support have taken a back seat.

What’s even more concerning is that if a child has additional needs, it doesn’t feel like those needs are actually being met. The support just isn’t consistent, and that’s not okay.

I’ve also seen a clear negative change in my child’s mental and emotional well-being, and that’s a huge red flag for me. School should not be this stressful for kids.

At this point, I would not recommend this school to other families and am planning to pull my child out.

Don’t send your kid here. Honestly.

This school was a horrible fit for my daughter. I don’t believe it was ran right. The new principal need more training in leadership. The teacher are miserable and upset with life. They take it out on the students. They talk about the kids more than helping them. My niece did one year at this school (like jail) and it was enough for me. I cried many of days sending her to school. Her mom and I tried our best to get her into another school but they were not taking transfers. The graduation for the fifth graders this year seemed very fake and the teachers sat on stage like they didn’t want to be there.

My son always enjoys learning at this school and is above his grade average in most areas.

This is the best school in the area as far as I'm concerned. The teachers are wonderful and the school is small enough for my children to get the individual attention they need. Great job!

We have had great teachers who helped our children learn and grow. We have also had bad teachers who placed roadblocks just to have power over children.

When we tried to do a science fair project that was a real project that would need me to order supplies and help my kid learn how to use a microscope, we were told no. Instead they wanted us to make an oil and water mixture that is below his ability level and did not help him grow at all.

The principle seems to be the main person we have the hardest time with. When we first placed our oldest child in the school she seemed very friendly and helpful. He has learning differences but he is able to work around them himself and doesn't need much help. My youngest does need some extra help. He makes good grades and can do the work, but he can have issues in social settings. She has been fighting us about getting an IEP in place and would rather tell me that my autistic child is a bad kid, even though I am bringing them reports and letters from different therapist that all say give the kid a few things and he isn't a problem at all.

My autistic child with ADHD and a reading and writing learning difference is being told he does not need or qualify for an IEP. Which is a lie and because we wont stop asking for it they have started putting him into situations that trigger his anxiety and then they can suspend him saying that he is a bad kid.

While I have not had either of my kids ever get into a fight at school, I hear about bullying often. I wish the school would do more to confront things like this.

I thought it was going to be a good school at first. But the minute we started talking about the special needs of our youngest child the principle Josie Brazil seems to have taken an interest in chasing us away instead of making any changes to her school. While as an adult I understand the steps about legally fighting this. My child is the one that feels like he is really a bad kid because of how he is being treated. I don't understand why somebody would want to work for a public school yet treat kids in this manner.

Sherwood elementary school isn't perfect but it's good. The students are getting good grades and are learning a variety of things. They may not be as respectful as they should but the adults are trying their hardest and the students aren't trying to do what they are told and they do need more discipline but the school is going great in my mind.

I am also truely disappointed with the leadership of our school. The school has alot of devoted teachers but who are being underminded by the leader of this school. I am so disappointed in where we were and where we stand as of today. The no scholl left behind is ran on lies as well as the awards system. If our leader was to get this school back to a level of respect I would change my mind but as of now I feel the leader needs to go.
