My children have both been going here since kindergarten. We are now in 3rd and 2nd grade. Since my youngest started he has always been a target and in trouble for every little thing but yet can get hit, pushed, physically hurt and it is always brushed off as an accident. Fast forward to 1 day ago. Once again my son was hit in the eye causing a scratch and his blood vessel to bust and it was an "accident". Was told he was fine and was given an ice pack. Was never told about how his eyeball looked until I arrived home. I have called and left a voice mail for the principal to please call me as I am not happy about this. Have yet to hear from anyone regarding what happened. I went to sylvan hills as a child into middle school where bullying was bad then and nothing was done. I had hopes that it would be much better but I was absolutely wrong. This will be our last year at sylvan hills.

My child attended this school kindergarten and first grade before I pulled my child out to homeschool. Safety was the biggest factor. There were multiple school shooting threats at the high school across the street in Feb 2020. The elementary is an open campus where children walk outside (sometimes unattended I’ve seen) to go from the office, to cafeteria, to kinder, to PE...always outside and not a safe layout. The school was put on lockdown during the threats and still children went OUTSIDE to the cafeteria on a legit LOCKDOWN. This was the scariest thing I’ve had to deal with. Disrespectful cafeteria staff and a loud prison like atmosphere in the cafeteria with staff screaming at kids and disrespecting them was not okay with me and I went to the principal multiple times to try to advocate for these children and nothing changed. I believe teachers try to do the best they can with the resources they have. There are some great teachers there, but there are some that have no passion for teaching or the kids.

I have 2 children at SHE. We have been very happy with the Teachers! Mr. Young has been a wonderful Principal and has made many improvements. The lunch service is nothing to brag about, I suggest sending a lunch from home. The curriculum follows along with all Pulaski Co. Public schools, but they also offer a Alpha program. We are happy to have that!!!!They do not offer much "Extra" outside of choir. I hope to see more groups created in the near future. Parent involvement is on the lower side.

The principle at SHE is one of the best! he treats each child like they are his own. The teachers are very good with keeping good contact with the parents. I do wish the curriculum was at a higher standard. I don't feel my kids are challanged as much as they could be. I have 3 kids at SHE and they love it there.

Sylvan Hills Elementary is a wonderful school! Both of my kids have gone there since kindergarten and we have been very pleased with the education they have been receiving. The teachers are caring and very knowledgeable. The school is very old, however, and needs many updates and improvements.

Mr. Young is a wonderful administrator; he makes each child feel special. He stands at the door in the afternoons wishing each child a good evening and asking if the child has had a good day. We love Mrs. Bailey; she makes her first graders feel special. She keeps the parents informed of the week's studies and happenings in her weekly newsletter. She consistently adds the week's spelling words to Spelling City; this makes learning the spelling words fun. She makes learning fun.

SHE is awesome. Principal Jason Young is doing great things. He has made improvements, new technology for the classrooms, new bathrooms and a new gymnasium is on the way. His door is always open to hear suggestions or discuss any issues that may happen. There is a lot of Bear Pride at SHE!! We moved to SHE last year because we heard Mr. Young was there. Keep up the good work SHE.
