Henry offers a small community school with big family, teacher, and administrative support. Our family also has a child attending a large charter school, and the feeling at Henry is so different, the staff and teachers are so caring, they also have very low turnover. My kindergartner loves his teacher and the school. They have great programs, like music, opera, choir, orchestra, and band. Public schools have gotten a bad rap over the years, but this one is an asset to the community they serve. If you are looking for a school that will nurture and seek out the best in your child, you have found it in Henry Elementary School!

My son attended Henry Elementary from preschool through 5th grade. The community...including families, staff, teachers and students have all come together to create an amazing place to learn. They supported my child by enriching his academics and building life long relationships on and off campus. If I had to choose again, I would not hesitate to choose Henry Elementary for my son's first educational experience!

I felt as if this school's atmosphere was very negative. After being there only a month, I witnessed and my children told me of several negative incidents and when I brought it to their attention they put it back on me rather than addressing it in the classrooms.

The children in my son's 5th grade class was bullying a child who was different and the teacher and principal blamed the child instead of talking with the kids that were picking on him.

My children had only been there a month when I took some bullying concerns to the principal. He ended up telling my childrens teachers I had concerns which was not true. I told them of bullying experiences and they said that one incidence does not constitute bullying. I told him that the boy punched in the lunchroom probably didn't look at it that way. I moved my children. They breed negativity in this school.

I brought instances of bullying to the schools attention and they told me I was new and didn't know what was really going on. They did nothing for bullying prevention week. Kids are taking their lives over bullying and they teach the kids that only once is ok. That is ridiculous. If it's once or more children should not treat other kids badly at all.

My son was in a 5th grade class there and he complained about a boy with learning disabilities in his class that was constantly getting picked on. I complained to the principal and teachers and they said they would do nothing and that it was just the way it was. That was unacceptable to me so I withdrew my children, as I have a child with learning disabilities.

My daughter has been at Henry for the past two years and we have been completely satisfied. They participate in the OMA (Opening Minds Through the Arts) program, have dedicated and caring teachers, and a fantastic principal. There are regular community events and the school has a great playground as well. I highly recommend this school!

My daughter started Kinder this year at Henry and has a fantastic teacher. She has gone from knowing her letters to fully reading at a first grade level in half the year. The credit is owed to her teacher, as so much progress was made once she started school. She loves school and has made lots of friends. It is a wonderful community and the teachers are very caring and supportive. The principal is very approachable and can be seen out in front of the school directing traffic and chatting with parents every morning. I also love that they have a Pre-K and after care program on site. My 3 year old son can attend the same school as my daughter, which makes life easier for us. We love being part of our neighborhood school and this community.

I have not seen or heard of any problems with bullying. Caring and respectful behavior is the expectation, and the kids all seem to get along pretty well from what I have seen.

This is a diverse group of kids, and some do have high needs. The teachers are skilled and knowledgeable about how to provide a quality education for all of them. There is a school-community liaison that also is available to help families get connected to resources to support extra needs that kids and families might have.

This school has a PTA with some very competent, hard-working, and devoted members that do a lot of good work for the school. The principal is friendly, approachable, and seems to really care about making it a positive environment for everyone.

This school uses Positive Behavior Supports and offers different rewards and recognition when kids behave well and show caring qualities toward one another. It is a "Be Kind" school that encourages positive character traits in the kids. It is a wonderfully diverse group of children, and this also provides them with opportunity to learn compassion and respect for one another.

My daughter's teacher has many years of experience, a master's level education, and is clearly an expert on working with her age group. She is organized and communicates very well with parents about what the kids are learning in class. We receive a newsletter each week and can contact her through the "Remind" ap with a very quick response. My daughter has learned SO much in school already this year and is performing above grade level.

My kindergartner has a weekly homework packet to complete, and it is a very reasonable amount of work. She gets it done with very little assistance at the beginning of the week.

My daughter went to kindergarten here last year and I can not tell you how horrible it was. The teacher was burned out and spent most of the time putting you tube videos on for the kids that took forever to load and were frankly very strange. Three of the kids in my daughters class had severe behavior issues so that took up the majority of the teachers time and I believe she was too exhausted after to teach the other kids. My daughter received all 3's and 4's on her report card but has recently been tested as dyslexic which the teacher never mentioned as a possibility or even a concern . They passed her thru without a care. I would not send a child here if you care about them actually learning something, if you only care about them being able to copy test questions to pass it is great place to be .

My child started with Henry in kindergarten, when wrightstown merged over. I was extremely nervous. Though she had Ms Ryan who was the best teacher ever for kindergarten and second grade. In first grade she had Mrs. Hoogie who was great. in third she had Mrs. Rosen and in fourth she had Mrs. Boatner. We were never let down with bad teachers or not being involved with the class or school activities. The teachers send out weekly newsletters and are more than happy to talk with you at any time. In my daughters fifth year at Henry, another school merged in and a new principle came. The principle was always there and majority of the days he would help direct traffic on the street at the end of the day. Which is helpful behind belief and great to see. The previous principle helped traffic right in front of the school Which was helpful to me the first two years at Henry. The office, library, volunteers, and other staff are nice and helpful. I believe it's not just up to the teachers but the parents as well to have a great school experience. My daughter as well as I have had a wonderful experience with Henry and we can't wait til next year.

If I could give this school "negative" stars I would! 4 teacher in one school years is outrageous! Who does that to a third grader? ! And then when they do FINALLY get a teacher she "leaves for personal reasons" 8 days before the end of the school year! ! UNREAL! ! This school has been nothing but a great disappointment from the very first day! Teachers=poor, counseling services=poor, principal=not a bad Guy but seems to be left out of the loop at times, front office=poor! They really dropped the ball when it came to my child being bullies....for TWO weeks...I never received one phone call about the situation! Then another child put their hands on my child and NO ONE thought to tell the principal or call me! Again...unacceptable! This should have been the school that got closed!

Henry has gone through a lot of changes this year with two schools combining. I was worried but I have to say it has gone great. It quickly has become one schools. The staff has been there for my child and their education. The new principal has brought it all together. He is kind to the students and has learned a lot of their names. He always answers me quickly when I have questions. The office is friendly when we come in. We love this school.

Mrs. Dorfman is a first grade teacher and she is a great teacher who is concerned about her first graders. My son is very lucky to have her as a teacher!

It was a great school for many years. However, this year is been just bad there is a new principal and Henry is not the same. I truly doubt they will remain an A school. Also, there was another school that merged with Henry and it truly brought the wrong crowd. My son is in fifth grade, he has a good teacher but so far he has informed me of unruly kids getting in trouble, even the police was involved in a particular incident. Next year my younger son will not attend this school. It is truly a shame because it was an amazing school.

All of the things I heard about this school made me feel like this was a great place to send my child. It's NOT! This school lacks communication. The teachers are cold and distant. The principal is new and doesn't know how to run a school. The best part of the school is the office staff. They are wonderful, too bad the principal and the teachers I've met aren't.

I am not very thrilled this year on how the school is going. I think they took on a lot more than they could handle and didn't care how it would effect the kids there. The principle is not a hands on type of guy, haven't seen him around or do very much. If it doesn't get better and they staff doesn't get on top of it I am going to have to relocate my child.

My kinder-age daughter has been attending this school since the start of the '12-'13 school year. I LOVE this school. The teachers are effective, friendly, creative, and fun. The prinicipal takes his job very seriously and is very effective and dedicated. He knows the name of every child in the entire school. He has fun with the job and the kids really respond to that. There is a small but mighty PTA that offers a lot of fun family activities. The programs are challenging for the students, but additional help/tutoring is available to those who need it. The entire faculty/staff are extremely committed and dedicated to their students. There is also a fabulous art program, choir and orchestra, PE, and after-school sports. Several cool local programs have come through the school this year including OMA (Opening Minds through the Arts) and Stories that Soar. There's also an on-site preschool and after-school program offered by the YMCA. My younger daughter is part of the preschool and we both love it. I researched a lot of Tucson schools before choosing Henry and am SO glad I did!

Henry Elementary is a wonderful neighborhood school. My son attended 1-5th there, and my daughter is currently enrolled. I feel that the current leadership is excellent, teachers are top-notch, and, especially with the merging of Wrightstown, there is much to offer students in the way of extra activities, like music, art, sports, etc. My children have always been very happy at Henry, and I would recommend it highly to any parent.

I don't know yet, need to do more research to compare Henry to other TUSD schools.
