The teachers are committed and the school itself is not conducive for a learning environment and are not supportive of the teachers. Admin. is overwhelmed each day by the chaos daily and many classes are either taught by subs or teachers that leave in mid semester. The students come from difficult home backgrounds and are not prepared or motivated in the main to behave properly in the classroom and learn. There is no Sped dept. and no support when trying to integrate such students and in general to teach in a differentiation fashion

This is a really sub par place to educate a child. How can it be called a Magnet school. That is a bit of a joke. Rampant bullying. Monitors that want to hide their heads and run for the hills. I am sure the only reason any teachers are there is for a paycheck to survive and because they cannot get a job anywhere else or they would run. Administration is in a cloud and say classes that are unmanageable can be managed and yet there is no teacher assigned who can even stay a semester

This school has staff who like to pick and choose who they favor. They have Security staff who like to also pick and choose who they bully when I say bully I mean Touch and spit in their face and tell them rude and nasty disrespectful stuff. They lack respect of the students Leaving. they seem to pick and choose who they like and don’t like. This school was a school that seemed good but atp they love to just pick and choose who they like and don’t like who they respect and dint respect. The front office staff love to catch and attitude with anyone and everyone they can IVE learned this from experience and it’s sad Bcs I thought I would like this school for my peers but I don’t They lack the support they students need. They also claim they can’t put their hands on students when fighting and not can they separate it so then how do u get the job done? But they can put their hands in students who don’t want to get out of class.

PLEASE READ! I have recently gotten guardianship over two students who were going to this school. My oldest was failing the majority of her classes and my youngest never had any grades in the system. The same week I got guardianship I emailed every teacher they had to schedule a meeting to see what could be done so that they will be successful. I didn’t hear back from ANY of their teachers. I emailed the VP and he had some councilor call me to schedule apts with these teachers. He scheduled three different meetings and NONE of the teachers showed up and he gave up. Thankfully, my oldest was able to get her grades mostly up.
It is now two weeks after school and my youngest STILL DOESNT HAVE GRADES IN THE SYSTEM!!! I have tried calling, I have emailed both the principal and VP! This school has been absolutely AWFUL and I would advise you to never have your kids go here. Thankfully my kids get to go to a great school in the MUSD district next year. My youngest came home and told us about a teacher throwing a desk and injuring 6 students and the from office lady told me I was lying! Why would my kid lie to me about something like that???
THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE! AVOID AT ALL COSTS IF YOU KNOW WHATS GOOD FOR YOUR KIDS!!!

They allow the bullies to get away with murder even allow the bullies to bring students from other school to walk the halls terrorizing other students they have problems with. The school laughs at you when you report it and will argue with you that according to their guidelines bullying is not that serious

Teachers at this school do not teach at all only a handful on one hand do especially on the middle school side we have teachers who were watching porn in class and caught for it and was only suspended 1 week as it was shown on the big screen for all students to see.

This school encourages bullying behavior as the bullies run the school free cussing and making fun of students the monitors laugh even their own coach Mario laughs when he hears it this was even witnessed by a parent an alleged attacker was making fun of her victim in front of the monitors who all had smiles on their faces and as they saw the parents approach the nicely told the bully oh go to class please the bully did not listen and continued taunting the girl in front of her parents. This administrators, monitors, and teachers have no respect, integrity, or compassion how can you expect the students too

Leadership does not care at all they discipline the victims let the bullies roam free but if the victim speaks up they complain on them . The administrators have no control because they do not want to have control they dont care and it is normal to see Tucson Police at the school they even have an officer on site who is just as eager to arrest a child for any little thing but will not help a child if they are being bullied to the point the child talks about suicide.

On a scale of 1 to 10 a 2 if it werent for the handful of teachers and staff who do really care this needs shut down under the current administration it is horrible they can not run their own lives never less a school.

Booth Fickett has some extreme bullying problems and administrators refuse to do anything about they will treat the victim like they are the problem. Booth fickett is acpathway to prison not an education

Bullying is an issue, but bullies never get suspended or expelled. Also they no longer let my elementary school child wait for my my middle school child to get out and walk home together. They want to force you to pay for their after school program instead. Kids are told they can't be in the playground waiting unless they are in this program. Now my elementary school child has to walk home alone when I'm at work because I can't afford their program.

Team work is what I think of when it comes to Booth-Fickett. This is my grandson's first year at Booth-Fickett and his teacher and the admin. have helped him to feel like he is the only studnet in the school. I can tell you by my past experience of raising sixteen children, I have never felt so relieved and comforted leaving my Grandson in the hands of competent educators. I see a future for my grandson. Anytime there is progress or problems I am notified as soon as possible. What else can I say about Booth-Fickett K-8 Math and Science Magnet School...many, many thanks.

I am the proud parent of a 4th and 6th grader, both of whom are proud to call Booth-Fickett "their school." They are both receiveing an excellent education and have increased their math and science skills tremendourly since transferring from a local charter school. In addition, we have noticed a postive increase in their self esteem. The teachers and staff go out of their way to make our entire family feel welcome, appreciated and valued. They often go above and beyond to make sure our children are recieng the help they need to be successful at school We are proud to be part of Booth-Fickett Magnet School.

We transferred our 3 children [grades 2, 5, and 8] from a local charter school and have been very happy with the education they are receiving. Their teachers made them feel welcome and helped make the transition a smooth one. The teachers are extremely dedicated and consistently go above and beyond. An example of this is the after school math tutoring. The teachers are always cheerful and helpful and seem to have an endless positive energy even though they have already put in a full day s work before they tutoring sessions begin. Another example is the recent Literacy with meaning family night. We went home with so many great ideas and a furthering sense of the dedication and caring that occurs every day at Booth-Fickett. Our kids love going to this school. Thank you!

reviews seem to depend on personal experience but I have had a good one. I have seen great things in the last few years and both my kids love the school, both the booth side and the fickett side. The principals always make time for you and are friendly...teachers have been great. I would recommend it to a friend for their kids.

As we are finishing the 2011 school year here at Booth Fickett I would not recommend this school. Booth and Fickett has really gone down hill with their students performance and behavior. There is a huge bullying problem Booth and it has carried over to Fickett. Fights everyday on both campus's. Kids curse like sailors. We have also noticed that the kids are extremely pregidous against white kids. The majority of school is african american and hispanic and white kids get bullied pretty bad. Principal is aware of the severity of the issue, but has not been able to get it under control.
