A male student was making repeated sexually inappropriate comments to my daughter. I reported it to the principal. His response was to tell me kids say things and suggest my daughter might be "misinterpreting the dynamic." He claimed he would investigate. What he did instead was call my daughter in and ask whether she had encouraged the attention and whether she had witnesses. The other student faced zero consequences. My daughter came home feeling like she was the problem. That is not an investigation — that is a cover-up, and it happened entirely under his direction.

Parent meetings with Mr. Armendariz last about four minutes. He listens just long enough to give you an answer that gets you out of his office. I once watched him explode at a high school girl who had calmly approached him about a dress code issue. He told her: "Go ahead and report me to the superintendent, the school board, or whoever you want." She looked confused and said she just wanted to report a dress code violation. He walked away.

Teachers who used to be open and friendly have become visibly withdrawn — shorter answers, nervous glances toward the building before speaking. I don't know what goes on inside, but the staff does not look like people who feel safe. I hope I'm wrong.

What he does find time for, every single morning and afternoon without fail, is managing the parking lot — cones, traffic flow, the works. The lot is flawless. Everything else is not. The teachers here are good. My daughter is transferring next semester. I should have done it sooner.

The principal Is not fit to be here. Peter Felix makes students feel uncomfortable and uncared for. He has favorites. So unprofessional.

As a parent, I am happy that I know the staff and teachers here are giving my child the best education they can provide, but the administration is doing the bare minimum. The main principal has no compassion and isn’t kind at all. He intimidates and bullies students.

This school is ran off of a family hierarchy that runs the show. I am concerned about the things that are handled behind closed doors especially concerning finances. It would be a better school without the main principal and superintendent. I don’t recommend this school.

I am supposed to be a junior but am a year behind. Last year I was able to catch up a whole semester. Nosotros is small enough to not have distractions and the teachers actually know who you are and care about you.

I originally came to Nosotros Academy because I was doing badly at Cholla. At first I was hesitant to enroll because of what I've heard, but it was exactly the opposite. The students that go there are not how people make them out to be. They still want to finish school and graduate just like any other student at another school. If anything, they have a better advantage because they can earn credits faster. I'm one of those student. I'm still attending Nosotros Academy and I'm planning on graduating from here. I got very attached to this school very quickly. I'm getting credits faster and learning more than I would at a regular high school because I don't have any distractions, also because I have many supportive people around me, which brings me to the teachers. The teachers are amazing and very helpful. I especially praise the T.A's because they are intelligent and patient with every student. I'm just so glad I came to Nosotros Academy because if I didn't I don't know if I'd even be in school or be willing to finish. If any student is having academic issues and even social distractions, I highly recommend Nosotros Academy.
