Desert Christian School

My daughter started at desert Christian in preK. She is now in 3rd grade. The entire staff is so emotionally available for the children and help them grow into loving Christ centered kids. My daughter feels so loved by the entire staff from her teacher, office, principal to the monitors. On top of the unbeatable love she has gained there she was able to read by 5 in preK, chapter books by kinder and is now able to spell fantastic. She has been taught cursive, about our states, Bible verses as well as how to tell time. We love desert Christian.

This is a truly horrible school. Especially the high school. In middle school there are issues with bullying and not being kind. They don’t get resolved. There is no community building or encouragement of inclusion and cooperation. At the high school level this it becomes even worse. Because the school is small, kids must get a long. But they don’t. They are mean. They are so unhappy. The principal doesn’t even like kids so his approach is punitive. There is no leadership or communication. There is no heart here. Many of the teachers are really bad. The schools knows it but they keep them. The principal and some of the teacher and office staff need to go. They need to hire staff who truly have heart and like kids and want to educate. The morale is so low here. Most kids leave quickly. The ones who stay don’t have any other options or another place to go. Yet with miserable, sad kids everywhere the staff and principal don’t even notice!! They like misery here. Being happy is punished. Don’t waste your money. They also believe they have an accelerated or superior curriculum. It is moderate. There is no fun here. Why’s why is fun bad? Why is everyone so miserable? Look around when you visit- the misery is everywhere. As another parent said you will be treated horribly here.

My child and family were treated horribly from day one. My child started at this school a happy positive child and came out with a negative outlook on school and teachers. My child feels dumb and feels like no matter what will just be in trouble. Was bullied and nothing was done, not even looked into. Was not allowed to use the bathroom and had to potty on self in class. Teachers are cruel, heartless. This school is NOT a christian school, but rather a school full of faculty and parents that are very busy trying to pretend to be Christians

The homework is beyond excessive with 2+ hours per day of homework for 2nd & 3rd grade. Child unable to retain what is learned.

Teachers expect perfect children, they do not allow for children to just be children. Teachers are not well qualified educators. Teachers evaluations of children do not match test scores of children

No. The school teachers fear of speaking truth and speaking your mind, feelings. Children are not allowed to explain any situation, not allowed to express what they feel. The kids are on a color clip behavior system that teaches fear of doing anything. Kids are intimidated daily by teachers.

Passive leadership. Principal tends to sweep things under the rug in hopes it will just go away rather than deal with the issues at hand.

The kids who bully are kids with parents who have money. Those kids are never disiplined.

When I first discovered DCS, I heard that they had a great reputation in the community, and genuinely partnered with their families in providing a high-quality, Christ-centered, education for their students. Now, as part of the DCS community, I can attest to the high level of commitment and care to each child as an individual. It is an honor and a blessing for our family to be here. Thank you.

I have two children that have graduated from Desert Christian High School. The teachers have been a highlight of their experience all the way through their school years. They invest more than hours, they address their heart. That takes time. I am also a teacher and am impressed with the level of knowledge and interest in the subjects they teach. They have challenged my children to love learning because they love it. The small class sizes allow for personal attention on many levels. The staff and leadership of the school love the students and care about their development emotionally, spiritually as well as academically. My children did not just gather academic knowledge but are equipped for life as thinkers with a love for learning.
