I have been at this school for several years, through 3 different principals. I can honestly say that the leadership team at Lauffer is truly passionate about student achievement and really care about the students they serve. The teachers are both state certified and recognized federally as Highly Qualified, which is something that many schools struggle to boast. The faculty is collaborative and teachers work together both in subject area and grade level to establish best practices and move student learning forward. Lauffer is an AVID National Demonstration school that encourages student agency and helps students develop an academic identity that prepares them for the challenges of High School and beyond. Lauffer offers a wide variety of Fine Arts and STEM elective courses; which shows a commitment to holistic education in a time when public education dollars are seriously limited. Lauffer is one of the only Middle Schools in the city with a daily Student News program that is produced, directed, and presented by and for students. It is also home to a nationally recognized Future Cities program, and our students compete in other STEM competitions throughout AZ. We offer services to Exceptional Ed. students and English Language Learners, using a fully inclusive instructional model that provides students with differentiated levels of support. We also offer a wide variety of sports, clubs, and other extracurricular activities, and provide a daily activities bus to provide transportation to any student that wishes to participate. I am very proud to be a member of the Lauffer faculty, and consider it to be one of the best middles schools i have ever worked int.

My experience as a Parent, as well as my Child's experience in the past 3 years (2015-2018) has been a treasured experience. Not everything has been perfect all the time, but truly believe that most of the teachers have the best interests in the student's success. The overall goal of this Middle School is to lay the foundation and tools for success through High School & College.

They have a special class just for improving homework and most of the teachers offer tutoring before school or during lunch/break times.

As most schools in AZ, they are challenged with class size, but majority are able to effectively teach students that are committed to learn.

These are values that are awarded on a monthly basis with Student of the Month awards, as well as spot awards anytime they are witnessed showing these qualities to other students.

Principal, Assistant Principal, and Leadership Staff are very involved with all aspects of the school. They are engaged with extracurricular activities, PTO, and school boards to improve community involvement.

They set up IEPs for students with these differences or special tutoring sessions when students are struggling with a topic.

This is a very tough area to overcome in today's society, but bullying is strictly not tolerated in this school and handled with accordingly.

Billy Lane Lauffer school is the best! I am currently an 8th grader and have been at this school since 6th grade. The teachers are great, the monitors are super nice and helpful and the principle really cares about his students ! I would recommend this school to anyone! You'll love it , I promise. They all treat you like one of their own and will always be there to catch you when you fall. They help you from wrong to right and support every one of your biggest dreams. We have great sports, I am currently in Cross Country and it is so fun! We get to go to a lot of fun meets and we are undefeated :)

I am very disappointed in the leadership of the principle set a poor example for the children, allowing severe bullying. Cares strictly about academics, I agree that our district needs a performing middle school but not at our children's expense.

i was one of the kids that had the honor of graduating her first. i saw this school before it even was a school; when it was just a plot of desert us by the neighboring elementary school to host "expeditions" to a fairly nice and modern school. if your looking for the newest school, go here for sure. im a junior a DV and most of my classmates that did graduate from this school are excelling here, joining the NHS and even forming a mentor program.

2 years ago we were not sure we wanted to enroll our son in this school. The principal and many of the teachers seemed to be working hard in raising the success level. We decided we would chance it for one year. We were NOT disappointed. This truly turned out in many ways to have been the best decision. He has excelled in both academics and music. All the teachers are outstanding. We are proud that he has received 2 annual President's Awards. He is now a straight "A" student in standard and in the Sun Program. Proud to highly recommend this school.

I have a child that attends this school. The hallways are crowded and there is rough play between classes. There are no lockers and my child has had lunches stolen. My child was injured at school and the nurse failed to adequately treat the injury. I was not notified of the incident until my child told me after school. The academics are great but the environment needs improvement.
