My daughter started 6th grade at RVMS last year and is a current student there. She has said nothing but good things about RVMS and says she loves her school. She has a lot of friends and is friends with everyone. At her previous school in San Antonio, TX, some of the girls bullied her, but she hasn't experienced any bullying here at RVMS. She has mentioned that a couple of her friends transferred schools due to bullying amongst other girls. The only teacher that she has talked negatively about is Mr. Niblo. She said towards the end of the school year, he was kind of mean. Not sure how he is this year. The only negative thing I would say is that they send out email reminders stating adult supervision doesn't start until 7:45am, and that students should not be on campus any earlier. This is unfortunate because as a single parent in the military, my duty hours are 8-4pm and with the construction on Valencia, it takes me 25-30 min to get to the base from Houghton/Irvington so I am usually 10 min late to work every morning. We're in the walking zone so she's not able to ride the bus. I don't feel comfortable with her walking 30 min to school with a heavy backpack on. It's a 10 min bike ride but her backpack is so heavy she can't even ride her bike to school. They don't have lockers at RVMS so she has to carry around everything in her backpack. On top of that, there are two registered offenders less than 1/2 a mile from where we live on the same street she would take if she were to walk or ride her bike. After finding that out, I definitely did not want her walking or riding her bike to school by herself so for peace of mind, I drop her off in the mornings.

In Texas, schools started around 7:30am but for some reason in Arizona, most schools start at 8am. The school on base starts at 8:20 but the earliest arrival time is 7:45 (35 min before school starts). It would be beneficial if Rincon Vista started breakfast at 7:30 instead of 7:45 so parents could drop off their kids earlier and not have to rush to get to work especially since being in middle school, they don't offer before and after school care. To alleviate the traffic on Houghton/Irvington, and the amount of people speeding to try to make it to work on time, I think it would help if parents were able to drop off their kids earlier than 7:45am.

I have subbed at various vail district schools including this one and I can say that I see the Vail School District in general and all of the grades since I have subbed at all three levels are superlative and far superior in all respects than any other school district or charter school(s) that I have taught. And I have now taught in multiple states and maybe 100 schools as a sub and full time teacher. the culture, the parental involvement and the small school feel are just an immersive feeling. The principal and other teachers near my class offered support and oversight for the day and appreciated my efforts

Rincon Vista Middle School has some great teachers, but a HUGE problem with bullying. Multiple people have transferred schools due to not just a few but more than half the students bullying. Rincon Vista is not a school that a child whom may have mental health problems should go. Many of the teachers put down ideas in a classroom and obviously chose favorites. This school also has problems with students vaping and getting away with it. In the end, this school will do more hurt than good to your children.

Hi, I'm a 7th grader attending RVMS, and even though I feel like it could be a good school, there isn't enough effort going into it. For one thing, the kids can get away with EVERYTHING. One kid made some racist joke and the teacher actually defended him! And things get routinely stolen or broken. I left my pen at my desk, and went to go work with my group, and it was rolling around on the floor with the tip pushed in and people kicking it. The teacher took NO steps to solve this problem and I know other people as well that have this problem. The school also has a 'reteach' class at the end of the day, and it's supposed to be when you can ask for help. In reality, it's just extra math that helps no one. The teachers are not very good at communicating and teachers that are complained about have nothing done to. The kids on campus are INCREDIBLY toxic, and the teachers are TERRIBLE about discipline. There are punishments threatened but never followed through. The kids know this, and so no one cares anymore if they get caught. Also, the amount of actual physical fights that happen is insane. The suspension time is only three days for a fight so kids don't care if they get caught. The sports teams are fine if you are a boy, but for the co-ed and girl sports it's incredible how little effort goes into it. And the teachers either let you get away w/ everything or they punish everyone, and it's not fair at all. Honestly, I've been to a lot of schools, but RVMS might be the worst, and you can actually feel that it's got a great principal so it just makes you sad. The staff and kids are the problem. DO NOT ENROLL.

In my opinion, RVMS is not my favorite school. The math teacher thinks that everything she teaches is right and if students don't do it her way. she gets very upset. When I didn't have a packet, she basically yelled at me. The kids are mean and hurt my feelings a lot that I got anxiety. Rincon does not deal with bullying too well. That's only if they get a problem they bring it up. I see why people say it's a bad school.

As a military family we have transferred schools a few times, this was by far the best experience. We transferred, mid school year and they made it a seamless transition for her. School does not give a lot of homework but some much is covered in class that it is not needed. They truly want the kids to learn and give them every chance to excel. My daughter failed a section in one of her classes. We was given new worksheets and told she could redo it over the weekend. Teacher gave her all the answers to put on the new sheet BUT she had to explain why the other choices were wrong. I even received an e-mail from the teacher explaining to me what she wanted done. Staff us always friendly and helpful when you have questions. You will receive lots of emails from the school about what is going on different things taking place. They encourage parents to get involved. Highly recommend!!

They don't often give you a lot of homework but depending what teachers you have you might, they do give projects and plenty of time to do them if you don't procrastinate.

I'm a student at the school currently in 7th grade. The standards the teachers hold you to can be met. You can really tell that the teachers are passionate about what they're teacher and that they want to better you. This is an amazing school and I would definitely recommend it. If you need help the teachers help you and help you by making accommodations so you'll understand the topic. I've had two amazing years here so definitely send your kids here because you can tell that the teachers are passionate and actually care.

I once dealed with a problem with another student and was able to tell a teacher and she made sure it was dealt with and even got the principal involved to make sure they got in trouble.

The teachers work hard to make sure that if you need to be accommodated you are as best as possible

The class work is nearly a full year behind their peers in other states. Also the assistant principal comes up with the strangest rules about school spirit days. It is almost as if they are actually trying to lower morale.

My son loves attending Rincon Vista and actually looks forward to going to school each day. The teachers are great and provide the students with a lot of positive feedback. My son is in 6th grade and has been moved up to 7th grade math were he continues to excel. Community is great and parent participation at the school is excellent. Great School!

My son and step-daughter love their teachers and often get mad if they are absent for some reason. The teachers establish a healthy relationship with the student to foster a positive atmosphere.

My son and step-daughter are able to handle the homework load and still participate in cross-country , club soccer 4 nights a week and archery.

Discipline and integrity are enforced and reinforced at the school. The principle and teachers hold the students to a higher standard of excellence.

This is a wonderful school all the people are nice my student comes home learning stuff i didny know she could learn!!
