My child attends Temecula Valley Charter School. The teachers are doing their best under pressure, and many of them genuinely care. The problem is not the classroom. The problem is the administration.

Dr. Charity Hennings the Superintendent also serves as Treasurer on the Board while also controlling student medical plans. That conflict of roles alone should concern every parent. When parents have asked for proof of medical practices and protocols, she has repeatedly refused to provide transparency. Instead of accountability, she deflects and blames parents when something goes wrong.

She has received multiple raises while teachers and staff are stretched to the breaking point, forced to cover multiple departments and responsibilities just to keep the school operational. Educators are overworked, morale is strained, and leadership continues rewarding itself. I have discussed with my child's teachers these issues and they are so fearful of the backlash they button up and choose to stay silent.

When you bring concerns to the Board, you quickly learn there is no real oversight. Complaints are simply forwarded back to Dr. Hennings. The Board President does not independently investigate, he redirects. Parents are then forced to deal directly with the very person they are filing concerns about. That is not governance, that's insulation.

The attitude from administration is clear: if you don’t like it, leave. That is not how a publicly funded charter school should operate.

The health office is understaffed. There have been multiple student medical emergencies on campus that parents believe were minimized or quietly swept aside. Communication lacks transparency. When student safety is involved, silence is not leadership, it is negligence.

The promised new school site lacks transparency and clarity. Questions go unanswered. Information is vague. Families are expected to simply trust without being given facts. I went to a TVUSD board meeting since they allow TVCS to operate, and their members openly questioned TVCS's Admin.

I have escalated concerns to the overseeing district, only to be told that Dr. Hennings “runs a tight ship.” There has been no meaningful investigation, just automatic alignment with her leadership.

Parents deserve transparency.

Teachers deserve support.

Students deserve safety.

Right now, this administration is failing on all three fronts.

I’ve had a child at Temecula Valley Charter School for three years now — my 5th grader has been here long enough for me to see exactly what’s happening behind the curtain, and it’s not good. The teachers are the only thing keeping this place running, and they deserve every ounce of praise (and a raise). Unfortunately, the people in charge are doing everything but supporting them.

The same person serves as superintendent, principal, and treasurer — which should tell you everything you need to know about how this place operates. There’s no transparency, no accountability, and no checks and balances. I’ve attended multiple board meetings, and it’s painfully obvious that the board has zero interest in ensuring our kids get a quality education. The focus seems to be on protecting a small group of people who are mismanaging money and somehow rewarding themselves with raises while teachers struggle to stay afloat.

Don’t be fooled by the polished language or “faith-based” charm — this school is being run by someone hiding behind religion to justify unethical behavior and wasteful spending. It’s like watching a miniature Trump-style circus, complete with power trips and self-serving decisions.

I’m genuinely relieved that my child is almost out of this place. Unless there’s a complete overhaul of leadership, I’d strongly urge other parents to look elsewhere. The teachers deserve better, and so do the kids.

If you’re considering Temecula Valley Charter School, please read this first. The teachers here are absolutely incredible — they care deeply about the kids and somehow manage to do amazing work despite being given almost no support. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end.

The administration is running this school like a business, not a learning environment. Classrooms are overloaded, teachers are quitting left and right, and the remaining staff are being stretched far beyond reason. The leadership seems more focused on filling seats than supporting students or teachers.

They’ll accept any student without the resources to handle the mix of needs that come with that. That means your advanced, motivated child could end up in a classroom where an overworked teacher is trying to manage several high-needs students with no assistance. It’s not fair to the kids, the teachers, or the families.

If someone with an employment law background ever dug into how this place is being run, I think they’d have an absolute field day. The teachers deserve medals for what they put up with — but until the administration changes, this school is a mess.

We are just finishing our first year at TVCS. Our child has absolutely thrived in kindergarten at this school. He is normally very shy and we were so worried about his starting a new school, but the opportunity to tour campus, go to open house, and meet his teacher before school all really prepared him to start. Since the beginning of the year, he has made a lot of friends and developed a lot of new interests. We love that TVCS has art class, music class, AND a science lab. I love being able to volunteer in his classroom and see what he is doing in class, as well as being able to accompany him on field trips and chaperone. The staff are all so friendly and his teacher has amazing control of the classroom. The curriculum was rigorous but also not too hard for him. There were a lot of projects this year, but he seemed to like doing all of them, and all of them taught something new. Can’t wait for next year!

As an alumni and now a parent, it is wonderful to see the family culture still present on campus (warm welcomes by parents and faculty every morning). The curriculum offers special weekly classes in music, art and science labs which are favorites of my daughter since it keeps learning fun! As a first year kinder parent, I am so impressed with how well she can read and solve math equations. She has also learned how to be a good friend and respect others. I was able to see this first hand by volunteering in the classroom every 2 weeks.

We look forward to returning next year. The leaders of the school genuinely care for each student and go to great lengths to create unique opportunities and experiences for them. The performing arts department even included a double cast so more elementary students could join the spring play. We will gladly drive the extra miles to be a part of TVCS.

We are finishing our fourth year at TVCS, and the experience at this school has been by far the best one for our kids who had previously attended two other schools in different states. We love the family culture at tvcs and the smaller community it offers. Each one of the teachers my kids have had have been fantastic and so caring. The school does several field trips throughout the year for all the different grades, and there are a lot of opportunities for hands-on learning. Our kids have grown so much intellectually, mentally, and emotionally!

This school has become a living nightmare. I am a past student from this school and the current principal Hennings is trying to pursue some master plan by firing some of the best teachers the school has. She is also hiring inexperienced people to "teach" the kids. This is not only bad for the students but unsettling for the parents. It is so sad to see a school that was once good turn to this. Do NOT send your kids to this school.

TVCS has been an amazing school for my two kids! As a mom of a kid with learning disabilities I can tell you my son got all the help and resources! They helped us with everything after our previous district failed to help my son! This will be our 9th school year here (with both kids 3rd-8th and Tk -6th) and we ain't going anywhere! The field trips, the hands on learning, the student support team, the family activities, the parent involvement and incredible teachers make this place home for us

Past Student here ! Please do not send your children here… unless they have made drastic changes since I attended it is awful.. Not only do the kids bully each other but the teachers ( most of the time parents of the bullies) don’t stop it but join in. I was harassed my kids and teachers .. called stupid, fat , ugly , weird the teachers wouldn’t stop it, they isolated me on field trips (Saying it’s best if I just don’t join in the other kids will just make fun of me) Telling me how all the kids requested I didn’t sit next to them on field trips or even in the same vehicle. I could go on and on stories upon stories… getting hit in the face my a male student, teacher calling me dramatic for crying when I a different kid made fun of me in class then yelled in my face in front of everyone.. there so many over the four year I was there … it’s bad and I know I’m not the only one. Please, don’t sent them here

Our experience at TVCS has been nothing less than AMAZING! When we came to this school our son had terrible grades and was at risk of retention. We were admitted to the school and in our first meeting with the principal we discussed our son’s problems and she listened to every one of our concerns and questions. Then she told us that TVCS’ mission was to help every child succeed academically and that he didn’t need to be retained, she gave us the confidence that we needed! Our son was helped in so many ways that I can’t even begin to explain. He was evaluated and we found out he has ADD and was never evaluated before. He is now on his third year here and I can say he loves school, he is confident in his skills and he is learning how to manage his time and use strategies to help him with his ADD. Our second child just finished TK at TVCS and I am amazed by his accomplishments he is reading and he is so ready for kinder. He loves every day at school!! He loves his teacher, the noon duties and he loves his classmates. As a mom I have to say that I love to be able to drop my kids off and know for certain that my biggest treasures are safe in a loving environment, did I mention I can stop by anytime and volunteer? This school is so amazing. It has great field trips and events to enhance the children’s education, not to mention all the amazing classes they have! I would strongly recommend this school to any family. You will not regret coming to TVCS!

The teachers here develop amazing relationships with the students. This is the key to effective teachers. Unfortunately, because of many different circumstances, TVCS experiences teacher turnover frequently. I don't necessarily see this as a negative, though. TVCS has a unique vision for how school should be done. They do a good job of finding teachers that fit that vision. Teachers that are excited to build relationships and set high standards are what make a great school - whether they have been there for years or not.

Posted: June 6, 2016

Posted: June 6, 2016

TVCS helps students develop these traits by giving them chances to figure out how to repair relationships when mistakes are made. Some teachers just assign detention when students make mistakes, but TVCS has some great teachers who give the students a chance to figure out how to make things better.

Posted: June 6, 2016

This school is a place where students are highly valued. TVCS lets students find their expertise and encourages growth in all areas. The "extras" offered here make this place ideal for learners of all types.

Posted: May 29, 2016

The few good teachers they hire seem to leave after only a few years. Perhaps the clicky teachers who the parents and children can't stand get to the professional teachers as well? I know that i could NEVER stand to work in such a petty, immature environment myself.

Posted: May 29, 2016

Posted: May 29, 2016

The teachers at this school encourage favoritism, and create secret societies, such as the advanced math program for middle school, that is not offered to all children. only those hand selected children they like. The sports director will alienate you from the sports team you paid for by simply not notifying you of the practice times. Very unfair environment and the children suffer.

Posted: May 29, 2016

We signed up for several charter schools and we were accepted into this charter school within 6 months of applying, mid year. We were ecstatic. However we soon found out why this school is so easy to get into. This school has a very high turn around rate for both teachers and students. "Clicky" teachers give better grades and obvious favoritism to their friends children. They even started an advanced math class that was a secret society for the children they picked, not for good grades, but for other "reasons". Many parents besides myself have also had a similar experience as we did with bullying. Our child was being bullied, the principal will target the bullied child, threaten to suspend him, without even talking to the actual trouble maker, unless the parents step in, take time away from their work, schedule and meet with the principal.
There are certain teachers that have been here for many years, that are allowed to do anything they want, even remove your child from the sports team you paid for by simply removing you from the messages for where to practice. If you want to volunteer for a fun school event, this same teacher will also stop notifying you if you aren't in her "Click" of friends.
One particular teacher will do anything in her power to alienate anyone who is not in her "click" of friends, she is not concerned about the children's education experience, but rather power and her selfish needs. We've been attacked verbally by her friends even at school sporting events.
We've been at this school 3 yrs, had 3 principals and the longest stay for any of my 3 boys teachers has been 2 years (other than the few that are in the popular "click"). Teachers are severely underpaid. Ever hear the comment you get what you pay for??
Several teachers have mysteriously disappeared or been fired mid way through the year, in 2 instances a parent taught the class. We were never sure if the parent that helped even had a teaching degree. Totally unprofessional, immature, unorganized and unfair environment for the children and parents.
Look at other schools if you expect any of the following from your child's school:
*professional teachers
*teachers who act like adults rather than clicky highschool children
*fair environment
*equal opportunities
*solid education that is fairly offered to all children
*bullied child to be protected, bully to be punished

I recently retired from teaching Economics and Government to high school seniors. No sooner did I retire that I came to realize I was suffering from classroom separation anxiety. I love teaching! This led me to start subbing in three new districts and, thank God, Temecula Valley Charter School.

On my first visit to the campus it was obvious to me there is something very special about this school. Subbing here has only affirmed my first impression.

The school culture is phenomenal. The staff is like one big family, all pulling for the common good of the students. Everyone treats everyone with respect and a desire to support one another. The students are the same way.

I have taught in many different learning environments. TVCS stands second to none. Everyone that works here is happy they are a part of the best educational community I have ever experienced. Everyone, from students to parents to staff is truly valued. I assign the school's leader, Director Lois Hastings, credit for creating a school where everyone thrives in a climate of mutual respect and benefit.

How lucky am I to have landed here!!!

The whole staff is outstanding!

We attended TVCS for 2 years, but not this year. My main observations and concerns during that period are this. The students were taking Spanish once or twice a week and it seemed like none of them could ever put a Spanish sentence together regardless of how many years they'd been there (TVCS made a point of saying they planned to deal with this at the end of the year that we left - whether they have, I don't know). They advertise that they are small class sizes, but expect 30 kids in the class. The students tend to be loud and boisterous, especially in science lab. There's little accountability for unfinished work in class. This school had high testing scores in it's glory years, but now with all the teachers and leadership changed, and no testing results for a couple of years, I don't know what to think. I was pleased with the new set of teachers they hired when they became their own employer and stopped taking the budget-busting Temecula Valley School District teachers, but they all get paid $25,000 or less. I don't think that's sustainable or optimal. I saw public disclosures that showed Temecula Prep pays their teachers $50,000 or more. There are no academic student teams like math or debate, but they will offer cooking, legos, street art for a 6-week period for a price 2x a year. Other than these issues, the school is OK. We personally went the private school route this year and I'm more pleased with the academics. In 6th grade this year they studied world history extensively. TVCS studies Egypt. Both my kids have commented that they are actually learning something in their French or Spanish this year relative to TVCS and they take it daily. Drama at TVCS is very good, but my kids were never into it. Unlike their neighbor, Temecula Prep, getting into TVCS via the lottery wasn't too difficult for us. It seems that once your kids are out of Kinder or 1st grade, the families that move create openings for the families wanting to come in. All in all, TVCS is not much unlike a public school. And for that, expect to put in 12 hours of volunteer time every month and attend a mandatory monthly meeting that is mainly announcements. Teachers are very accessible at pick-up time. Office staff was really nice and efficient. School spirit is pretty good. Lots of class parties. The kids have fun.

We couldn't ask for better teachers and staff that always put our kids first. We have been at the school for over 6 years and have seen big changes that have been all positive. Our kids love going to school and come home very happy. We love the small size classes and the fact that we can participate as parents, we couldn't be happier with our decision to go to TVCS. The bad comments about the administrators are coming from the employee's friends that was terminated. All the changes that have taken place at the school, new administrators, and new staff happened for a good reason. All the teachers are there to do their job with love and respect because is what they want, and love to do, not because of a big pay check. Some of them have more experience than others but it doesn't mean they can't do their job. They love our kids and our kids love the teachers. It is a shame that some parents are teaching their children that when you disagree with someone you just go out and try to tarnish their reputation. We have very loving families working together, but some just don't belong there. The school will be celebrating 20 years since it was created, that tells you a lot. We love TVCS!

My children can't wait to get to school. They love their teachers and I love being able to be involved in my child's education. I know what is going on in the classes and it makes it easy to monitor my child's progress. The staff is easily accessible and friendly. I would not send my children anywhere else.

I love our school! We have had our kids there fir 6 years now. It just gets better and better. Anyone looking for a school that is child centered, has small class sizes and offering many different enrichment programs, awesome field trips, science and technology, and visual and performing arts should check our school out! Do not listen to the few bad reviews on here. There was an employee that was terminated last year. A few of her friends have bad mouthed our school ever since! What a shame. Do not know the details but I think our administrators and board are doing a great job. Don't just take my word for it. Go check it out for yourself. You will be so glad you did. So will your kids! Amazing learning experiences for mine.

Having been at this school for going on 7 years, I've seen and been through a lot here. I came to this school for their class size, parent involvement, curriculum I felt developed the whole child and the fact that it went K-8 was huge because my kids can grow up at their own pace and have the foundation they need to enter the feeder high school in 9th grade. I am pleased to say, I am just as happy today with my decision after having 4 kids at this school as I was the first year-actually, I'm happier now! I have seen change that was difficult and I didn't always agree with, but ended up being what was necessary and needed. I am very involved on campus as I volunteer in several areas on campus-so I feel educated in the heartbeat of the school. I'm impressed that while I do have a voice at this school, I also have administration and board who knows more than I and has the kids best interest at hand and legal knowledge needed to ensure this school is around for years to come. While the admin and board won't ever make everyone happy, that's not their job and I appreciate they aren't in it for the the popularity vote-but for the kids and their future,.

We have been at TVCS for almost 4 years. When we came to this school we were extremely excited for the potential it had, amazing administration, teachers and families. That all changed last year when administration changed and parents became overly involved. Now it's all about the current admin team , who are not qualified or experienced to run a school and it shows. It's what's in it for them, what can they get and how do they look. It's definitely no longer about the children or what's best for them. They fired all of the best teachers that all the children loved and didn't care one bit. It was about their ego on why they fired them because they might actually be doing the right thing and know what's best for the children, and that intimidated them. This school has gone downhill and we won't be there much longer. This school took a major hit when they fired JoAnn Burnett. She knew what she was doing and it was all about the children and their education for her. This school has no comradaree and certain parents think they run the school and have been given liberty to do so. We are very disappointed and saddened by this.

TVCS used to be an outstanding school offering so many advantages over other schools in the area. but with the change in administration last year, they are now average at best. Student/teahcer ratio is no better than any other public school. We were very fortunate to have our kids attend before that change. Based on our experience last year we have decided not to return this year. The school leadership is lacking. Teachers are inexperienced and in some cares do not have the emotional intelegence needed to maintain a classroom. Parents are relied on too heavily to fill the gaps, and not to be mean but the volunteer parents are in no way qualified for some of the assignments given them. Two of the parents (with no training or education beyond high school) were actually "teaching" students during a dedicated period last year. I know many did not like Mrs. Burnett (former director), but she certainly knew how to run a school to benefit the students and not just her ego. Current leadership could learn from her example if they were willing.

We couldn't be happier that we selected Temecula Valley Charter for our child. There have been some changes in the school over the last year and the teachers, Principal and Executive Administrator are all wonderful, caring and passionate about the kids and their roles within our school. The students are exposed to such a wide curriculum and aren't "taught to the test" which is very important to me.....even though it should be pointed out that their test scores are amazing! On top of the regular curriculum, from Kindergarten our children are taught Spanish, Science Visual and Performing Arts, PE, Art and Technology and they have separate specialized teachers for each of these (they aren't sitting in their same classroom for each subject....they go to the art room, the science lab etc.). Additionally, monthly field trips serve to enrich their learning in the classroom. All of this and more is why we drive 20 minutes to take our child to school instead of sending her to her local public school!

We chose TVCS because we wanted our children in a school with a close-touch philosophy and to avoid the overcrowded classrooms. We got just what we wanted! We are ao happy with the school, it's teachers, staff and the wonderful parents! We love TVCS!!

After seeing the API scores and proximity to our house, my wife and I enrolled in the lottery draw for our daughter to attend TVCS. She was After seeing the API score of the school and being drawn in the lottery,We enrolled our daughter and took her out of private school. Based on the results, could not be happier! Her teacher sends nightly (no exaggeration) updates and info on the classes progress and status. My daughter is excelling at math and is reading level 2 grades above her own. I have no doubt that her drive and educational results are a by product of the instruction she has received from her teacher, Mrs. J.W. The school,as a whole, seems to have this infectious desire to make the kids excel in all forms of education. My daughter comes home and is pumped on the VAPA (visual and performing arts) class, Spanish class, monthly field trips, science and computer lab. The school does require 12 hours a month of volunteer time from the parents. Clicks? Maybe; if you consider a group of parents willing to do "extra" to ensure a quality education. Be prepared for more homework than what we had as kids, but it's part of the equation for success. Small town feel? Yes, &We love it

So glad I made the choice to send my child to TVCS!! There are ALOT of choices out there....and as a parent, you need to find the right environment for your child. TVCS may no be the right choice for everyone, but it certainly has been a blessing to my child and our family. I appreciate the small campus, the great teachers, experienced leadership, the variety of programs and the opportunities I have as a parent to be as involved as I want. I believe open enrollment is going on now so if you are looking for a great school, TVCS just may be for you!

Wow! My kid is in 6th grade. They just had an Egyptian Fair at the school. It is great to see the kids so excited and engaged in learning. There were food, games, dancing, scribes, mummies, pharaohs, a jail, artwork....... all from ancient Egypt. What a great way to have fun with what they learned. Also, their math and science teacher had them mummify apples in the science lab last week too. I think the teachers have as much fun as the kids! I encourage everyone looking for that special school to come check ours out. It is fabulous! Parents are encouraged to volunteer.and be involved in the education of their children. The administrators are great, the teachers are enthusiastic and the kids are engaged. Many fun programs and field trips too. Don't take my word for it. Come see for yourself. The office staff, Suzanne, Joy, Karen, and Julie, are so friendly and helpful,. so are the principal and executive director. Come see the classrooms, take a tour. Meet the teachers. They love our kids and teaching. I walked in the office to check it out 7 years ago and have never looked back.! Your family will love it and your kids will soar! Mine did!

This year the school has changed leadership. The year started off running smoothly, but it is taking an uncomfortable turn. The teachers are excellent, but have no support. They are fearful of not having their contracts renewed. They leaderships lack of experience is evident. Both the principal and director are new to their positions. They both good at teaching, but not great leaders. Training is needed. The parts of the school that make it different and make it a school worth driving to are being removed. The performing arts teacher was let go after 7 years and no explanation was given to anyone. The music teacher is being stripped of his creativity and not allowed to teach as he always has. The programs that made the school special are no longer special, and the communication at the school is seriously lacking. I have been in to discuss matters with the principal and I receive no answers at all.The teachers do not have answers and are left in the dark on many things. It is sad that such a fantastic school is falling apart after such growth for so many years.Like her or not the last principal knew how to create a great team and great program. Now it is falling apart.

This school is like winning the educational lottery for your child. I went to a fine arts magnet educational school when I was young, but this school has blown the school I went to out of the water. The teachers take the time to make sure each child understands what they are learning. Not only is the education excellent, but the people are amazing as well. You get the parents who are really involved in their children's lives and their well being. What an amazing atmosphere they have here. I feel so blessed to have my children go here.

My son started Kindergarten this year, ad has done extremely well. I am very impressed with the Spanish classes and thrilled my son will be taught a second language throughout his time at TVCS. However, I will say that with the constant shuffling from one area to another is very tough on the kids. My one major complaint is the parents and the drama they bring into the classroom. Many parents stir up problems or create clicks with other parents, which is inappropriate because this causes conflict for the kids as well. To these parents, this isn't a chance for you to be Ms. Popularity.. its about the kids. Grow up!

This school is amazing!! The API scores speak for themselves. This is one of the only schools in the district to offer language, VAPA, science and computer lab to ALL students, K-8. They teach a very well rounded curriclum and my 3 sons have thrived there. The performing arts program is outstanding! I have seen productions there that are better than shows that I had to drive to LA and spend $85 to see! All of the pullout classes are top notch and so much more than what other schools in the area offer. I noticed that there are a few negative reviews, mainly complaining about "clicky" parents or teachers, but this simply isn't the case. This is a school of choice and it requires a high level of parent involvement. I have a feeling that the one's who complained were parents unconfortable with being hands-on and dealing with staff and other parents. You should really be your own judge. Visit the school and see for yourself. Talk to the admin, teachers and students and you'll find a passion for learning that I haven't seen at any other district school. These kids love TVCS.

Great school!! I have two in this school one was behind for two years in math at his last school. Within one year he is now doing the math he should be for his grade. No school is perfect but this school is one of those that is close as you can get. There is no singling out kids, if the new principal is talking to your kids there is a reason. The school is now it's own employer like all the other charter schools in California the charter was renewed and employs a new principal, employs it's own teachers. If you have complaints come change things get involved we all have to volunteer every month. The outlook for the school is changing and it looks like all it's going to do is get better. I do not agree with the bad reviews. I had my children in the public school and was not impressed and did not like the school. All schools get bad reviews and good reviews all you can do is come to the school and see for yourself.

My child attended this school when she was in Kindergarten , worst thing I could have ever done to my child. The staff and parents are very clicky. Principal singles out kids and is not easy to approach. Parents who volunteer in class are allowed to bring their babies into class when they are teaching. The teaching is very poor the students get shuffled around throughout the day. I would not recommend this school stay away.

If you're looking at sending your child/children to TVCS, please do your research well. This year has been a challenging year for sure, but mostly what I've learned is the leadership or 'administration' at TVCS is lacking in so many areas. The teachers by far are the greatest! The VAPA, Computer Lab, Library, Art, Science, PE, Spanish programs - all top notch! I agree with others on the 'clicky' nature of certain staff and families. This is very true. The schools charter has been recently renewed - and if it expects to survive and flourish under all new teachers, changes with current administration must also change. The school needs new leadership with accountability. The school needs tougher and clearer policies on safety and who they allow onto campus. Small town feel school, but also includes small town drama... In my opinion, the school has great opportunity... but there is much to be revealed and understood about how fundraising money is spent etc. The school needs improvement. Grade C+

I have not had an issue with being singled out by any of the parents or staff and neither have my children. With this being said I absolutely love this school! My children are excelling beyond their grade levels. My daughter went to Kindergarten elsewhere and had issues with her teachers and the school felt unwelcoming. Here I feel that her love of certain subjects is being nurtured and is still keeping up well in other subjects. I love the feel of a small town school and don't feel like my children are being shoved in a class and becoming a number or test score. Maybe I lucked out with my children's teachers. I feel they are absolutely great and feel confident leaving my children to learn. This school is reminiscent of what schools used to be before they slashed funding for arts and field trips. With the parents helping out around school and in class the teachers can focus on teaching. They are not off trying to multi task and rush to get everything done. Even with "shuffling" the kids around on some days to other classes like Spanish and Performing Arts, that time (a few short minutes) is made up by the attention that the students get when learning core subjects.

I agree with post that states the parents and students are clicky, and so is the staff even the principal for crying out loud. My child used to attend TVCS I pulled her out and took her to a destinguished award local Elementary. As far as the parent participation, parents also bring their toddlers with them while volunteering in class, that to me is not acceptable. As far as the child to teacher ratio, it's no longer any better than public school.

Fantastic school with dedicated families and stable, capable leadership. Our child loves going to school every morning. We disagree with both of the previous reviews - the most recent one, in particular, sounds like a disgruntled teacher masquerading as a "parent." Our experience at this school is that the parent participation model - encouraging and even requiring parent involvement - creates an entirely different environment than that of a typical public school. The "extras" taught here go beyond what we've seen in local public schools, and the core subjects are taught solidly as well. The test scores speak for themselves, no? Now, is this the right school for your child? That depends - you should ask yourself first if a parent participation school is right for your family. It requires commitment, but we think that commitment pays off. We love it at TVCS, and we're glad we found it. We would encourage you to visit the school on your own or at the public "Spotlight" event in late February. Then, visit Temecula Prep next door - as well as your local public school(s) - and decide for yourself. It really is a great school. Don't let the few disgruntled reviewers fool you.

Horrible teachers lack motivation some throw white board at the tv's at one time when the math teacher threw a white board and it almost hit a student the principal is fake and im happy to say that i hope it shuts down within 2 years because this is not what it use to be dont send your kids here

Posted: November 15, 2012

Don't let this school fool you. The idea of better children that go there because of "parents who care" is a joke. The parents and kids are very clicky. Most of the extras that this school claims to offer are really a joke. All of these extra subjects are only taught at a mediocre level and are often at the detriment to the main grade teachers because they are too busy shuffling the kids all over that there is little time to truly teach the basics. As for child behavior, it's no better than a public school. You have your good kids and you have your difficult ones. Only problem is that the parents are SO involved that the teachers can't discipline any kid without the whole school knowing. And even then, it's the teacher at fault. Don't let the small school fool you. It's almost too small.
