My son had an amazing experience at JES! He came from another TVUSD where he struggled with reading and writing. When he came, his teacher was amazing and worked with him to help bridge the gap he had. She built up his self esteem and helped him to gain the confidence he needed.

Unprofessional / Unethical: Teachers can threaten students without recourse even if a student did nothing. The principal disregards concerns from parents and only acts if you elevate issues to the district or look into legal actions.

Unsafe: Safety concerns that are brought to the school’s attention are dismissed by the principal; even after a student injury occurs.

Special Education: Not a priority for this school. Know the law for IEPs / 504 plans if your student needs that support. They violated federal laws regarding requirements for student support and it has taken months to hold the staff accountable and get my child the support they need.

Parents who bring up concerns are gossiped about by the staff. I know this as I was standing in the office area waiting for my kids while the staff unprofessionally gossiped. The administration does not take caring for all student’s needs and safety seriously as they do not want to accept responsibility for their lack of action.

There are good staff members but some staff believe they are above the rules and can treat children however they want. Talk to your children and make sure they are comfortable telling you if a staff member treated them poorly.

Not good. We are starting a new school this year. There was no excitement or morale. Felt like the teachers weren’t being supported. Best of luck ! Lots of changes happening there this year and hope it’s for the better

The Principle prefers to make excuses for misconduct rather than deal with bullying.

For the most part the teaching staff is excellent. Like anywhere, there are a few exceptions. The school has a bullying policy but it is not enforced. The Principles approach to dealing with bullying is to ignore it or make excuses.

Overall a great elementary school. Its a smaller school which allows for parents, students and faculty to all know each other. Several of the teachers my child had were amazing. Truly dedicated and eager to watch their students learn and grow.

My son has attended JES since Kindergarten and has the best experience. He is on an IEP and his resource specialist and teachers have been so helpful and empowering. He has built great confidence within himself. I can’t wait for my other children to attend. The small school gives a more intimate feel and you feel very welcomed as you enter the school.

They would not help u to stand up for bully or your own right but keep letting u down by showing nothing can help changing the situation. It is either all your problem or you are not lucky.

They only support some certain people like kids with parents work in school district or in PTA. They somewhat discriminate Asian kids there.

They were afraid of black would claim the white as discrimination, so they sacrificed the Asian. I reported many times but they play trick by taking advantage of my trust and kindness to them. Than they let the edvince went with the time. They just told me no prove after more than a week to take care the matter. No they would blame my kids have autistic after they even signed the IEP to agreed to my kids are not autistic.

They don’t care if the home work were poorly done or late. Even the answer were poor all they do just return them home. They have no strategies to help the kids realized the problem or improve it!

Very bad especial dealing with racism. As the leader of school let white privilege and try not to conflict with the black. They mainly ignore the other races like Asian. So, the PTA do the same. It is basically a little world America without all Man are equal.

Helen Hunt Jackson is a wonderful school with a dedicated, caring staff. Both of my children have attended since kindergarten, and have had nothing but the best teachers that meet their individualized needs. The school also has a preschool that serves special education students, and it's great to see them at the Friday assemblies or awards. The principal and PTA have worked hard to bring new SMART boards and new technology to the classrooms. It's an all-around great school!

A good portion of the staff here are very rude, disrespectful and unprofessional (as stated by other parents). The school psychologist has a reputation of doing everything in her power to not get your child the special education services they obviously need. As a mom of two boys with special needs, and a former teacher of nine years, I can tell you that the way they run this school is AWFUL and my sons teacher was not even aware of what an IEP or 504 plan is. PArents should not have to hire advocate lawyers when there is supportive evidence and documentation of a disability. I'm noticing that all of the recent reviews keep being deleted or reported... I will keep posting mine so that other parents are aware.

This is one of the few elementary schools in Temecula of this size. It's very small and intimate, and if you have a child that thrives in being a big fish in a small sea, this school is for you! Coming from one of the largest elementary schools in Temecula, triple the size of Jackson, we were relieved to find the close knit feeling of this school. The front staff knows my kids names, knows my husband and I. We have had extraordinary teachers through the years. With only two to three classes per grade, your kids will get to know everyone. The PTA works hard, and we are the right track as far as making technological updates to our school that benefit education.

Our experience with the teachers has been mostly positive, but the woman working the front desk is extremely unpleasant almost all of the time. I don't think she is necessarily indicative of the staff as a whole, but she is the person we most often speak with. I most often feel as if she is annoyed that I interrupted her day, even where it is obvious she is having a personal conversation with another employee. She is very short with the students and only occasionally shows any patience or compassion.

This school lacks leadership and professionalism. They are currently on their 3rd principal since my children began at the school so there is very little consistency with school enthusiasm and discipline when needed. The professionalism of the front office staff and some teachers is less than desirable and could use a major overhaul. The only saving grace for this school is the handful of teachers that still generally care about their students, the janitor who goes above & beyond for the students and takes great pride in his work and the ladies in the cafeteria who despite the dreary atmosphere that clouds the school still manage to smile and be pleasant to students & parents alike.

Jackson Elementary is a true "neighborhood" school. The students all live within walking distance. The sense of community is very obvious.

Overall Jackson Elementary is an amazing school. Most of the teachers are happy and eager to teach. The new principal is not very personable and the teachers seem nervous and tense when she is around but last year was her first year so hopefully she will learn to relax as provide a more positive atmosphere for her teachers. Mrs. Hayes (4th) and Mrs. William (1st) are amazing teachers and went above and beyond with my children. We have been very happy with the school and staff. The PTA spends a lot of time planning events and parent volunteers make up for the lack of school funds from the state. All of the areas schools are very good but JES is a little smaller so the kids don't fall between the cracks and everyone knows your name.

I really love the 2 kinder teachers my twins had this year. I was always informed of their progress and how to help/assist them with daily and take home work. If this was just about those 2 teaches, I would give the school a solid 5 star. However, a school is not made up of just the teachers. The front office (namely the person in charge of the front office) is sorely lacking and at times most unpleasant. The principle is so-so. I had tried on at least 3 different times to have a conversation with her about some bothersome situations but she never bothered to call me back. If you want to volunteer your time in the class room, the teachers are very open and always need help. But was treated as an outsider by everyone else but the teachers (of course when I was donating money the PTA and school had a hand out and smile but that was only during money time). All in all, my first year at JES was wonderful with the teaches but extremely disappointed with everything else.

Our son started at Jackson in the fall of 2011. He has enjoyed the school, his classmates, and most of all his teacher. Mrs. Hayes is a wonderful lady and very easy to talk too. The school has a newer layout for classrooms, where you can reach the class from inside like offices. Nice when it rains so the kids don't have to go out into the rain and the library and office are easy to access. You won't get kids wandering around.The office staff is always welcoming and helpful. I think that always makes a parent feel important . They also have great resources for children with special needs. I met a parent that lives out of the school zone who brings there child for this purpose. That says a lot.

Wonderful school! Parents are very involved and the staff is amazing. I have 2 children in the school grades Kindergarten and 4th grade. Both of their teachers are very motivated, positive and encouraging. The front staff (Karen) is always happy to help and very welcoming. My children have excelled in all areas and actually LOVE going to school. Thank you JES for a job well done.

We have been at JES since my son started kinder. Both of my children attend the school and love it. The staff is amazing. We could not ask for a more devoted, caring and loving environment for our children. We love JES!!!!
