I attended this school between 2013 and 2015. My experience was highly inconsistent, particularly regarding student support. As a student navigating personal mental health challenges, I found the institutional support lacking and unreliable. Teachers frequently lacked the time to offer individualized care. While some staff members were excellent, others were unprofessional. Notably, my sixth-grade science teacher told me I was worthless at the end of the year. I have since built a career as a behavior therapist, but it remains deeply disappointing that an educator responsible for supporting children would use such harmful language.

"Doctor" Ross and vice principal Dahlstrom are new this year and extremely rude, egotistical and care more about their reputation than students. Arrogant is the man who makes others call them "doctor" when they're not an MD.

This school is a for sure 5 out of 5 in my opinion this is the best school around and everyday when I ask my daughter if she had a good day at school sh eALWAYS says yes and she loved it and she says all of her friends are so nice and respectful to her the teachers and everyone really. There parents are very respectful and overall great as well. My daughter and I both love that she is at Canyon Lake Middle School now.

Mrs Hill is the very best principle ever! She helped my disabled son on a daily basis until he got settled with the right teacher(s) and one on one Aide. Now he has the very best program. We asked to stay another year here, we were so happy. To bad he can’t continue his education here, it would be the very best thing for him. The teachers are very effective and work together very well.

As I said, Mrs Hill is beyond the best. She may come across strong, to students but that’s because she is a very witty person and wraps her heart around these kids, I mean if you could do that, she would. She’s truly the most amazing admin I’ve ever seen! She’s kind, yet strong,smart and savvy. Fun and calming all at the same time. Just a well rounded person

The very best, this is definitely a 10 school. I can’t believe the rating is any less, I expected that it will increase with the new teachers and admin they put in the school this last year, they are amazing! The Special Education Dept has it down here and knows what they are doing, thank God! They have been our life savers. We will be sad to leave next year

Between average and bad. These are my top 4:

Class size. I don't know why the reported average class size is 24:1. There are 35-40 students in all of my kid's classrooms.

Absent teachers. It feels like my kid's teachers take a day off every week for meetings, professional development, etc... Can't those things be taken care of after school? I mean, there's a sign at the front of the school that says, "miss school, miss out." When teachers miss school, kids miss out, too.

Textbooks. A few teachers don't use them. I wish they would.

According to Canyon Lake's school accountability report card, the school doesn't employ a nurse, school psychologist, or a librarian!

I agree with the previous comment about Mrs. Mondragon. She is an excellent teacher, but a school needs more than a handful of good teachers.

10% of the teachers are incredible, 10% should be fired, and the rest are average. Teachers are like students, they vary in their level of effectiveness.

I'm sure they try... I feel like Canyon Lake cares more about standardized test scores than character development. A few teachers do a wonderful job, but that's my overall impression. I'm really tired of the worksheets that mimic the questions on statewide tests.

Best teacher mrs. Mondragon has a passion for teaching she really takes pride the way she teaches she brings history on a whole new level make egypt day so the kids can experience how thing were.very impressed.

School is a tool. It your choice to use it. CLMS has been a great experience 2012-2013. And continues to be on track this year for even greater things. With the new Core Standards occurring throughout the United States we will find placement of our children to be more in line with their grades in class. I find the teachers and staff at CLMS to be engaging and excited about teaching our children. We currently have a 6th and 7th grader attending CLMS and both of our children are happy and thriving in this schools environment. With education of top priority in our home our children choose to use the tool that is Canyon Lake Middle School.

i go to this school and i hate it teachers are mean (some teachers are nice) when im still having a hard time my math teacher always yells at me

REALLY upset about this school. The school uses state scores to place children in classes. They do not use their grades. My child was an excellent student with all A's and one B+ my child was sick during testing week but insisted that they had to do the testing, and because of low testing score was placed in lower level classes, the desire to stay interested in keeping academics has gone downhill. My child is now receiving C grades and not on Honor Roll any longer. I have approached the counselor several times just to hear that they will not adjust their policy regardless of the outcome. We are left feeling defeated and are so sad to see how their failure to look out for the students best interest and adjust, is so negatively impacting our children and their desire to learn. There is nothing in place at this school to teach social skills and the kids are left to their own. The school is very un-reactive to bullying and teasing. The staff is very unfriendly and unapproachable. A good majority of the teachers are very nice and do a very good job. There are another batch with a chip on their shoulder and clearly do not belong working with these young kids.
