Im very happy with CMI. School offers Entrance Camp for new students before school starts. This program is very helpful for my children to get familiar with the staffs and the school buildings. Academic programs and teachers are excellent! Im very happy with what my children are learning, especially helping them to improve their pubic speaking skills and be confident in themselves. CMI also offers robotic programs that my son really enjoys to participate. Summer camp is also an excellent program that CMI offers to train more leadership skills. And during school year, my children always have an opportunity to be a leader. Physical education is a plus for me at CMI. Need your kids to look great, feel great, and be successful in their lives, go to CMI. Highly recommended!!!

My experience at California in Military in Institute was very good one. the school is a community ,you feel like you know the whole the school so its a great a time together. The classroom are all nice teachers know how to keep education fun. The military part could be a bit tricky at times but once you get use to it its one of the best parts. California Military Institute has gone through tremendous changes over the last few years. With new leadership and a new perspective, we are changing the culture of our school. Of course, the main objective has remained true: that we prepare students for college. Also, the JROTC program has flourished and we help students find their leadership powers. Not only is this the focus of our program but we also have many activities available for our students to enjoy, including summer encampments, marksmanship, color guard, football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, and more. We just opened our brand new gymnasium and continue to make improvements to our grounds with our long-term plan to update our campus. CMI is known to be the best military school in the state of California and our students participate in state-wide competitions held by the California Cadet Corps (CACC) each year. We are proud to know that our students always rank highly in those competitions, proving that the JROTC program is effective and gives our students the chance to showcase their leadership abilities. Our Admin, Teachers and Staff care deeply about the success of our students and we strive to give them every opportunity to succeed in school, and be prepared for life after high school.

CMI is a great school with students who are definitely going places. The JROTC program is so great for kids and it helps to teach them about responsibility. As a parent, I know from personal experience that this school really is special and the kids get a lot out of their school experience. CMI offers something to students that most other schools do not, or cannot: direction.

California Military Institute is the best kept secret in the PUHSD. Students can attend from anywhere in the boundaries of Riverside County. I notice that only the naysayers are the first reviews you see. While no school is perfect certainly no students are perfect either. Our retention rate is very high 85% of students stay in our program. CMI has the highest graduation rate in our district. Most all graduates are college bound, military , or trade school bound. Having CMI on your high school transcript goes along way towards getting into the most competitive colleges and universities. You won't get that at your traditional comprehensive school site. The cadets here get JROTC training from the time they are in 5th grade. All the things you want to instill in your student while they are at an age where their development is so critical. Also you will save a ton of money on school clothing! So if you are interested in providing an excellent middle school/high school experience at a public charter school... think about becoming a Rough Rider and Finish Strong!!

This is the worst school, I sent my son here because he has discipline issues, and I thought it might be a good fit. The discipline system at this school is horrendous. The school is run on favoritism, students who are favored don't follow any of the rules. They don't have an extended curriculum, all the students struggle academically, the test scores are EXTREMELY low, my son did worse at this school than at Heritage HS, which is where he went before. I'm putting him back into his old school this upcoming year. If you want your child to have good discipline enroll them in ROTC , don't send them here.

terrible i went there for 3 years from my 6th grade to my 8th grade year and not until my 8th grade year did i really see how terrible it was in my 7th grade year i struggled and not until i was failing 3 classes did they start to help me and even then that wasnt enough and in my eight grade year I finally saw everything the school runs on favoritism the children in the school have low self esteem and the staff doesn't help with that they just say that there the best school and says that they will do stuff but they never do honestly especially in recent years the school has gone downhill and i don't reccomond sending your children here the classes are hard and the teachers don't help for example i left with f's and c's and in my new school i'm just getting a's and b's

I decided to enroll my daughter at CMI due to it being a school with one of the highest scores in the area. Shortly, I began to notice the manner in which they handle discipline problems and students mistakes. I do not see any value in them and are unacceptable to some point. For example, the students are expected to have with them their computers at all times during school hours. One day she forgot her computer at home and it happened to be that it was finals week. Her teacher said to her that she could not call home to get her computer and refused to let her borrow one from the school. Finally, after she begged him several times, he allowed her to use a classmates after they were done with their final. Luckily, she was able to finish her test, but she was nervous, rushed, and missed all her lunch. I understand that she made a mistake, we all make mistakes. To top it off, he said to her " a zero on your final will not look good in your grades, and now you are going to know what a zero feels like." Why did the teacher have to humiliate her in such a manner? What value was there to that? My daughter is a very responsible and does very well academically and did not deserve to be treated in that manner. I have found that some of staff members do not treat their students with respect and seem to forget that they are working with kids. One of my biggest complain is that they have the students outside during passing review for 2-3 hours during extreme hot weather conditions. There, the students are expected stand in a certain position and not move at all. Instead of having passing review in the morning when it's not as hot, they do it in the afternoon when it's extremely hot! Really? Don't they have common sense? Students pass out outside, have heat strokes, so I complained but nothing changed. They have some ridiculous rules, like no umbrellas allowed on school campus even though it would be raining. How is the passing review and umbrella rule helping them with discipline or in any other sense? They are still kids, and I believe most of them are forced by their parents to attend CMI. I truly believe the majority of the parents are unaware of how unfair and poorly their children are treated. If you want your child to have any type of military experience or discipline, I suggest to sign them up for the NROTC or JROTC program at another school.

Over the last 3-4 yrs, there has been a high turnover of teachers, students & Admin!! Cadets are no longer held to a high standard of maintaining uniforms & military discipline. My son's favorite teacher, + 100's that signed a petition, was let go by a VP that was asked to leave himself after multiple problems that the school simply never experienced before. This school is focused on + the # of students in attendance, has been caught violating the "First Come First Served" rule by selecting students to attend with higher test scores & let go children that had 100% loyalty to the program, treated all with respect, in order to keep students that were not nice to teachers, repeat discipline problems, simply had a higher probability to score higher on state exams. Why doesn't this school keep proven, military trained, teachers that are leaders & enforce discipline/structure that the children themselves desire? The school's not just in hiring & keeping teachers that are proven to be the very best, not just in keeping the students that want to stay at this school, & not just in following the procedures of the charter in which the school is supposed to follow at all times.

CMI is an ok school but i took out my child because the principal, said he can replace her like nothing. CMI has gotten better and deserves a better leadership if they want to teach leadership to cadets. I'm disgusted at the principal and the rules are strict and basis and teachers seem to have favorites and pick on students if not in their liking. No.

ok to put it simply its true. the teachers dont really care. they treat all their students as dogs that dont have an opinion of their own. in the end ive met one teacher that i liked the rest were cruel people and as posted bellow they do see everyone as replaceable. the principals goal at the end is to make himself look good. and as for low self esteem, that much is improved. maybe its just my situation and im lucky but i have friends that but i found friends there that accepted me. yes the staff sucks they are for the most part conceded people but there are a few diamonds in the rough an as long is u are willing to talk to people they can help u through it. it is a better school for college. i say fight through it and be strong. as long as you have friends you'll be ok.

I attended this school from 7th grade to 11th grade. At first I was excited to attend but then I started to hate going to school. I can honestly say that my whole MS years all we did was run and do push ups I learned absolutely NOTHING. In which in HS was a struggle for me especially in math. Long story short I always begged my mom to take me out of that school but she always thought it was a good school but you wouldn't know unless you attended. I actually got dismissed from CMI and wasn't even notified. Not to mention my transcript is all messed up. The staff don't even care about the school. I've had teachers tell students who don't understand and ask a question say "Well if you learn or not i'm still getting payed." Please take your child out while you still can!

Last year all the good teachers quite because they realized how corrupt the school was. They favor specific students . They threaten and harass students if they are searching for an answer !!!!!! Do NOT pick this school . Perris high has a better drill team and it's a public school .

I had 2 kids attend CMI and 1 for the new school 2013-2014! My son attended CMI in . As a new school there was potential from student's, Teacher's, staff, and parent's alike. Soon excitement disappeared, my son attended 6-8 grade. I felt he was not important, not part of their groups, nor did any one teacher or staff member stick out for me or him after having attending there for 3 years... My daughter attended 7 and 8 grade. She gained many friends but as soon as half way through she began to dislike the school. She had 4 beret's stolen from her, and 1 hat and a pair of boots. She was constantly getting in trouble for the missing items though she explained they were stolen, but certain student's missed certain clothing items and were not reprimanded! There was a Teacher who regularly picked on my daughter and no call, email, or attempts to contact me as the parent. My daughter was on the cheer team and we paid for uniforms $200+ then when school began we were informed there was new coach and they did not have to pay for cheer uniform but we lost our money. The new coach had 2 nieces on the team and favoritism was so very obvious. I felt ignored and disrespected by office staff!

This schools runs on favoritism school elections are based soley on popularity and our leadership doesn't have their act together I came here seeking better oppurtunites and learned that this is NOT the place for High School. We have no electives or extra curriculum activities and our highschoolers are stressed all the time. Our buildings are old full of roaches and we experience many problems with the gas pipes around our school. The students don't even have a gym. More bad than good has come out of this school for me.

Sad to say CMI isn't the great school I bragged about, not bragging anymore and I'm not alone. Parents don't know of what really goes on behind the scenes because we assume that the adults in LEADERSHIP there are people of integrity and would lead our child in the same characteristics . I thought that the school model is educate, train and inspire the Corps of Cadets so that each becomes a recognized leader of character dedicated to the values of honor and soooooo on, well, one must be an example, to lead as an example!!!! Trust me kids aren't as naive as adults think and they see what goes with the people in leadership at CMI. I agree with the comment with the one who wrote on FAVORTISM. I am concern that the adults in AUTHORITY there are really the "KIDS'. One can only hope that things change for the better but, we'll see. "Things done in the Dark, always get expose in the Light.

I attended California Military Institute for 2 and a half years. At first I was exited but it didn't take long before I saw what was behind the mask CMI showed to the public. 80% of the students AND teachers do not what to be there. The school wants to brag about its discipline and uniform regulations but what they don't say is the school runs off of FAVORTISM. If you are favored by serant members of the schools staff you can get away with almost anything. On a daily basis several cadets uniforms were a mess but were able to get away with it because they were favored. Why have respect for a uniform when most of the staff members do not? The school was not ready expand but they did anyways to out number there competitors like "OMI". They ignored the more important details like class room sizes and achidemics. In two years class room sizes went from average of 20 to 40 cadets per class. My grand mother and parents attended the school when it was a regular JR high. The school still has most of its original buildings and equipment after 40+ years, yet they still expand every year. California military institute expects it cadets to think before they act, but they can not even dothesame.

I went to CMI because I did not like my previous school's hours of session. I attended CMI my 7th, 8th, 9th, and 12th grade year. I skipped half of 7th and 8th grade. I graduated in 2011. Honestly, CMI is an absolute great school, MILITARY WISE. Academics wise, there are better schools. Even though CMI scores in testing are quite high in levels, students will not receive the highest and the BEST education attending this school. This is my opinion. I have always been a 4.0 GPA student. I was one at CMI as well, but now that I am attending college, there are things I was never taught at CMI that I should have been taught.
