I can say that from the time my son was enrolled, untill now, when I am about to pull him out because I have enrolled him in an online public school, that it has been a hassle working with the staff at this school. There is zero communication between each department, no one ever calls me back when I leave a message at the office, the parent vue app is pointless for reporting absences ahead of time because they will choose which days they want to mark him unexcused (when though I put those dates into his absences). Last, but most importantly, my son refuses to go back there after I picked him up from school with bruises all over one of his wrists... And nothing was mentioned to me about it, didn't notice them until we got home. Took pictures which means its dated and time stamped. I hope someone investigates this school and there policies, plus procedures for discipline.

Teachers really care about their students and school. The Arts programs are very good quality -- bands, choirs, art.
Reading some of the older reviews here, it seems like a LOT may have changed in the past several years, and in good ways.

Principals and teachers have high expectations for all students. Not all students rise to those expectations, but they know they're there.

The district and state are aggressively pushing school administrators to underreport incidents, to NOT suspend, to NOT document behaviors or other patterns. This creates problems for parents, students, and teachers who are trying to address conflict or harassment issues. Again, it's not a 'this school' problem, it's an 'everywhere' problem.

The issues are not just-this-school issues; the issues are district and statewide. Saying "I told my counselor" or "I wrote it on Sprigeo" are meaningless.
Follow the 'uniform complaint procedure' because that's the only way to GUARANTEE that you will be followed-up with. The district and state are aggressively pushing teachers and administrators to underreport incidents, to NOT suspend, to NOT document behaviors and other patterns.
You NEED to put it in writing, in the office. You NEED to be as SPECIFIC as possible: people, dates, times, locations, who said and did what, and I mean EXACTLY who said and did what. Don't just say "someone is being mean to me," because when the adult intends to fix the situation it's very difficult when it's generic.
Verbal conversations with the teacher or counselor will certainly help short-term, but don't skip the Uniform Complaint Procedure. Put it in writing. Be specific.

FYI most of the "sources" in this website's rankings are several years old. The data is not current! Several rankings I clicked on said "data from 2014."

Currently, RCMS has great Elective programs -- perhaps the best Music (both Band and Chorus) in the district! Teachers care and work hard with students. All classes are rigorous and teachers have high expectations of all students.
Facilities are old but have been reasonably maintained. RCMS has probably the best gym and stage compared to the other middle schools. And there are no dumpy portables, every student is in real classrooms.

NOT AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought school policy was to suspend BOTH parties involved in a fight, however they only suspended MY son even though he was jumped by 3-4 boys! Those boys that jumped him were at school the following day with NO consequences! How insane and unfair is that?!?!?!

No leadership - staff does nothing to help kids who are being bullied, or to help reduce the bullying. Definitely lack of supervision at this school.... the kids know what areas of the school to go to if they want to fight someone (where they can't be seen by an adult)

NO way! I've never seen or heard of so much bullying in a school..... and to make it worse with no solutions or actions taken to help reduce the amount of bullying. A lot of the kids at this school are extremely rude and disrespectful, so sad.

I've had experience with a couple of teachers who took the time to have a conference with me, when needing to discuss issues and find resolutions which was much appreciated.
I'm not sure if the grading is the teacher's doing or not, but another comment that I find baffling is if your child misses one assignment their grade drops by 2 full grades which I think is CRAZY! I could understand if it was a big test or major project, but how can a grade go from an A to a C due to one homework assignment not completed? When I was in school it took some serious slacking off for your grade to drop so drastically in a matter of a day or two! Also have a ton of homework every night which I'm not too fond of as it takes away from valuable family time that some families already don't get much of - isn't 7 hours a day of school work plenty?!?!?! But I guess it is what it is and this is just more downfalls to the common core junk.

Most of the time both of my children don't even know how to do their homework (and they really are smart kids). When asking them why they don't know it and didn't they go over it in class they would tell me "No, we didn't go over this in class"

Before either of my children attended Raymond Cree I saw nothing but bad reviews online, however due to the circumstances and the fact that my children wanted to go to this school I decided to give it a chance. My daughter was continuously bullied in 6th grade and would fill out bully reports almost daily yet nothing was done about it. Now she is in 7th grade and it seems to be a little bit better.
However, this year my son started 6th grade there and again was being bullied DAILY and NOTHING was done about it. He recently got in a fight and he was the only one suspended even though the boys (yes, more than 1) had been threatening to jump him... so they did and no consequences for any of them except for my son. I immediately transferred him out of that HORRIBLE school so he didn't even have to return from the suspension.
Even aside from this, I have not had one positive experience with this school and feel they truly lack supervision and dealing with bullying. James Workman Middle School is a MUCH better school with ZERO tolerance to bullying. I'm not sure how much longer I even want to keep my daughter there, but for now since she is doing well and doesn't want to leave all of her friends I'm allowing her to stay.
My biggest mistake was not taking the awful reviews/rating of this school before my daughter entered 6th grade - I should have put them in James Workman from the beginning.

Previously I have worried about sending my son to Raymond Cree Middle School, but I can honestly say that my prayer was answered when the new principal came aboard in 2011-2012 school year. Being that I am a Katherine Finchy parent and my son will be an incoming 6th grader soon, I have had the opportunity to visit the campus during school time and see what it was like first-hand. Sure there are some things that need to be fine tuned, but I can most definitely see a lot of positive changes this past year and I am confident that this new principal will have Raymond Cree sailing just fine. Keep up the good work!!!

This Is a great school if your kid is a high acheiver there are programs in place, ie robotics, debate team, a super choir and band program, and a spanish language class for eighth graders. There is zero tolerance for the typical middle school behavior experimentation that some kids fall into. And the administration is very receptive to advanced learning strategies.

From the leadership on down to the custodian, RCMS is a school of great changes, dedication and interest. As always, with change comes opportunities, and I believe the staff as a whole is embracing those opportunities!!

I recently had the experience of visiting this campus. It was a very warming feeling. The kids had a very positive attitude and leadership. I was very impressed. The staff was really kind and helpful to my needs.

I am a student at Raymond Cree. I love this school! All of the teachers are nice! This school really cares about it's students. This school is awesome!!!!!! By the way, this Is Mya Rucker!!!!!

This is school is awful and my own children don't want to attend this school because of the fights that happen. My child has had his PE clothes stolen 4 times and I have to keep paying out of my pocket. The teachers dont really interact when your children are struggling.
