All 4 of my children went to Red Hawk Elementary and I absolutely LOVE it! The school is small enough to where you feel like you're part of a family. The teachers are compassionate and engaging. They teach students independence and self advocacy, which in turn prepares them for the next stages in their education. There are tons of activities that incorporate families, such as lunch with a loved one, fall festival, and literacy and STEM nights. During all of our years at Red Hawk, our favorite principal by far has been Taylor Lundin. She is always present, greeting students in the morning and saying goodbye in the afternoons. She cares deeply about student and parent safety. She strives to ensure that all students have access to a top notch education, which is very important to my family! I have also watched as Mrs. Lundin has guided her intervention administrators into assistant principals, creating more opportunities for those individuals to grow! It's truly amazing to see. We moved to Temecula for its wonderful schools, and Red Hawk is no exception! I highly recommend becoming a Hero at Red Hawk Elementary!

Red Hawk is a top tier school in this district. The teachers are phenomenal, always looking out for their students but pushing them further. My daughter's TK teacher goes above and beyond the level of care and compassion you could ask for in a teacher. My son has attended here since 1st grade and we have been nothing but impressed with the teachers. The Principal is very present and I often see her outside greeting students by name (no idea how she knows so many student names) and has always been pleasant in my interactions with her. It seems as if other reviewers don't have a concept of safety. We truly love the Red Hawk school community and would recommend to anyone who is considering public vs. private school

The principal is terrible. She is unprofessional and does not know how to lead. She is constantly making up new rules and focusing on minor issues like, parents crossing the street when the crosswalk is hundred percent yards away, or having parents wait on muddy grass for their kids to be released rather than the sidewalk. Instead she should be focusing on the well-being and nurturing growth into the children. She is clearly self-centered and focused on looking good, she is rude and snotty. I have never dealt with someone so unprofessional and feel sad that my kids have to deal with such a weak principal. Since she has been at Red Hawk there have been three different Vice principals, that speaks for itself. The teachers are wonderful, caring and focused on the kids learning and growth. If you can avoid this school I highly recommend it.

I want to start by saying that the teachers at Red Hawk Elementary are wonderful. They are caring, hardworking, and really make an effort for their students. My concerns are with the new administration, specifically the principal.

I’ve had two older children graduate from this school and never had any problems before. I used to enjoy being part of the school community and even volunteered regularly. However, with the new leadership, my experience has changed. I feel that the administration sometimes overreacts to situations that could be handled with a simple conversation.

For example, with my first grader, the school chose to involve outside agencies over something I felt was very minor. Even the follow-up professional acknowledged it wasn’t necessary. This left my family stressed and confused, and it made me question the judgment being used.

When I met with the principal, I didn’t feel the level of understanding, compassion, or communication I had expected. Instead of working together as a team to support my child, the approach felt rigid and lacking perspective. Based on my past internship in family court, I know that when schools over-report minor issues, it can distract from the serious cases that truly need attention.

Update: Since sharing my experience, I’ve heard from other families who describe similar treatment under the current principal. This has reinforced my own concerns that the leadership may not be equipped to manage a school community effectively.

If you’re considering this school, it’s important to know that minor issues can potentially escalate into larger interventions. While the teachers are excellent, I would encourage families to carefully consider whether the administration’s style aligns with their expectations for compassion, common sense, and responsible leadership.

Would not recommend this school. Looks fine on paper but they harbor bullying behavior, have had abusive galslighty teachers, and come down on attendance issues WAY harsher. Their bottom line is test scores and funding, not the kids. Principal is AWFUL. Typical Temecula.

My son attends and is learning so much. The teachers are caring, effective and hard-working. They ensure that all students succeed. We love Red Hawk!

Red Hawk Elementary is one of TVUSD's smaller elementary schools with a student population of just under 600 students. We strive for academic excellence and rigor while also maintaining an attitude of care and concern for the children in our charge. We encourage and foster family involvement and are proud of the safe and welcoming environment that is foundation of the Red Hawk culture.

My kids have been attending this school for the past five years. Red Hawk is an amazing school with a wonderful staff and supportive principal. I just attended this year's posting party and was so glad to see all the excited looks on the faces of students as they found out which class they would be in. I absolutely recommend this school to anyone new to the neighborhood.

Red Hawk Elementary is an exemplary school. I have experience as both a parent and an educator. I have worked directly with the staff and administration and absolutely love they way they care for our community and our children, particularly my own. The new principal is amazing! She cares for your children like her own. The staff has all been together for several years and is really a family. The level of expertise of the teachers, office staff, and administration is top notch. I have been very impressed with all of the teachers and the level of knowledge and skills that they have brought out in my children. I have both lower and upper grade level students here. The entire school runs like a well-oiled machine. Being a military family, we were not only very welcomed here, but they took extra time and care to make sure our children had all of their needs met. I would not hesitate to recommend this school to others. No matter which school your child attends it takes communication and flexibility on both parts to ensure that your child is getting the best education. The school is diverse and all students are loved and welcomed there. Red Hawk is the sole reason we moved to Temecula.

If your child is going into 5th grade be VERY careful on the teacher that your child is placed with. Terrible experiences with administration (principal); staff was OK, but not overly helpful or considerate. The only thing positive at this school was my child's 4th grade teacher. If I had the option to do this over again, my child would NOT attend this school.

Being a military family, our child has attended numerous schools and we love Red Hawk. Our daughter has had great teachers and she loves this school. As parents, we appreciate the high academic expectations and the fact that the teachers, staff and administration truly seem to care about the students.

Racism and discrimination. If you are black, hispanic, indian, asian or anything other than White - do not send your child to this school. NOT MILITARY FRIENDLY nor DIVERSE. The front office gossips and has rude staff. I took my child out of the school. They single out minority children.

This is an amazing school! My daughter has gone from K thru 5th and we will be sad to move on. The teachers are excellent and the staff is awesome too! Highly recommended.

I love Red Hawk Elementary, the teachers we've had experience with are great and so, it seems, are the rest of them. I was unhappy that two years in a row my youngest was moved into a different classroom three weeks after school started, due to budget cuts and class size requirements. In kindergarten he was moved into a combined K/1 class, and in first grade he was moved OUT of one into a First Grade Only class. Where he is bored due to, i think, having absorbed so much first grade level knowledge in his kinder year. My fourth grader loves his teacher but she's a bit ditzy and disorganized. Still a wonderful woman and a good teacher, but assignments don't often come back on time, etc. He is also ahead of grade level and involved in the GATE program for gifted children. I wish it was available to my younger son, but it starts in third grade (testing at the end of second grade). All the teachers have email and are usually quick to respond if you contact them in that manner. We will be moving to the Murrieta Unified School District at the end of this school year, I'm interested to see the differences.
