Middle School is a hard time for kids. I feel my 2 children were ready for high school after TMS. If you like a conservative environment with low tolerance for slackers this is the school for you. Personally I’m a tree hugger who is still glad my kids went hear because all races are well to do in this community. Who wouldn’t want their kid to be amongst the best scholars?

I have a 13 year old daughter that is currently attending Temecula Middle and I have been extremely pleased with this school. The staff are caring, kind and supportive. They have done everything they can to make my child feel supported through her education. I would definitely recommend this school!

I have seen many reviews on here of TMS not being a great school and to that I have to disagree. Tms has been the best school that my children have ever attended. The teachers care greatly about the education of the students and the administration staff care deeply about making the school a positive environment. Mr. Morton and Mrs. Wulfenstein have gone above and beyond to make my children feel safe and welcomed at this school. I seriously couldn’t ask for a better environment for my children. I would definitely recommend this school to any parents looking for their children to get a great education experience!

We have had so many kids go through the school, and it used to be wonderful. People across temecula used to try and transfer their kids to temecula middle school. Now they have two new principals that have run the school into the ground. The bullying is awful at this school. Nothing is done to any student for punishment. They think it’s great to say their suspension rate is low but beware that just means they do nothing. Kids get punched in the classrooms in the hallways at lunch and in pe rooms. The principals at this school have no leadership and if you go to them for help they tell you to go to someone else. I have heard that half the staff has quit because of the principals and went to other schools. Real leaders like the student council teacher and special Ed teachers and even school counselors have quit. My daughters teacher left on disability because the principals wouldn’t punish behavior went kids are sent to the office. It’s easily the worst middle school in temecula so if they tell you you have to go here I would transfer somewhere else until the two principals are gone for sure.

Temecula Middle School.

Before I write this review, I do not send hate nor want to bring any politics or controversial opinions into this review, I'm just writing from my experience.


This school is perfectly fine, above average on most standards. However, I live in Temecula. Temecula is a supposed to be a great city in the state of California with amazing academic performing schools. This school, has A LOT of great teachers who care about the students. However, the administration at this school is terrible. Protestors have been going outside and protesting for their kids freedom from masks. There was one girl at the middle school who assaulted a parent and her daughter. The principle of this school at the time (Mr. Mortin) has decided not to punish this girl. Parents, Teens, Grandmas, Kids are all protesting and this one girl comes along and decides she wants to be the center of attention and push and punch protestors. The principal said that the girl did nothing wrong. I have to say this is really really bad for this school. The protests are peaceful according to my son who goes to the school. The principal needs to be fired!

This has nothing to do with racism, and before you say, yeah I'm a middle-aged white person. You are wrong. I'm asian.


In advisements they are teaching Black History Month, which is completely fine but some of the teachers are exaggerating their feelings for BSM which under no circumstance should be allowed. They spend their money on clubs like the "Gay-Straight Alliance" or "Black Student Union" I mean come on this is what you guys decide to spend money on? If this school wants to pour money into clubs, why only make certain clubs? I don't see a asian, hispanic or white club? I've also heard that one of the teachers was talking about critical race theory in a social studies class!


The school also doesn't have much money. They need so many things! The buildings need to be repainted, teachers need more things instead of relying on donations and they need to bring back good elective classes! Couple years back they removed their home economics class, due to a teacher leaving, but since have started it up again because apparently they can't afford it! I've also heard that their campus security and P.E teachers are paying for equipment out of their own pocket! Disgraceful!


In conclusion,

let your kid decide where they wanna go! If they want to go to a public school like TMS, let them go! But expect problems!

My daughter is in 6th grade and so far I am happy with the school. I do wish they offered more rigorous academics for gifted students though. There are no honors courses or magnet programs...

Some teachers in this school talk about Christianity nonstop and being gay is not a real thing. So sorry for the LBGT community. Sorry for the students with LBGT parents who have no idea this is happening.
Although 40% of the teachers are amazing the other 60% will make your stomach turn.

Band and is great. Some teachers are amazing. Really amazing! Some teachers literally are openly racist and bigoted and bully the students.
Its 2020 why are public teachers promoting Christianity in the classroom and telling the kids being gay isnt real?

I have 2 kids at TMS right now and they both love it. Over the years I have had various teachers reach out to me when my son was having difficulties in class and we have worked together to help him succeed. The band program is amazing! Both my kids have participated in band and have had wonderful experiences. Mr. Aviles is amazing! My daughter is in ASB. She loves participating and planning school events. My only complaint is that there are no school dances. Minor I know but they would be fun!

My son loves school and enjoys attending TMS. I have great conversations with my son regarding his school experience and his teachers. My son works hard and I believe his teachers recognize that. I will admit my son is not a behavior problem.

A lot of the reviews I've read here seem to be complaints from parents about homework, calls/emails not being returned, individual behavior issues, etc,. Sometimes I feel that some parents are way too needy and entitled. I send my son to school knowing that there will be a few "bad" kids, different kinds of teachers, and students with different levels of learning abilities. With that being said, my job is to teach my son how to respond to different situations and how to advocate for himself.

If my son isn't doing his homework I will know, and I will deal with him. What does my son not doing his homework have to do with his teachers? Teachers at the middle school level usually have 6-7 periods, with one prep period. That means a teacher sees between 150-180 students per day! I don't expect them to respond to your every email, especially when a lot of the issues that students have at school stem from home anyway. Remember, teachers have contract/work hours and also have their own lives.

Another parent mentioned too many subs being on campus. Maybe the teacher was attending an IEP, a school-related meeting, sick, or whatever. Now, if a sub is being used for a long period of time without having an official teacher of record now that's a district issue and needs to be addressed.

I will be interested to see how high school and college go for some of you. Remember at some point, usually the end of elementary, we stop doing our children's school projects.

I have had a terrible experience with my child being bullied at this school both violent and verbal issues and when I confronted both principals about it and teachers all issues were shrugged off. They made it a point to tell me my child was responsible for some of what they were getting because it couldn't be one sided... apparently my child being singled out to the point of no longer wanting to go to school wasn't enough proof. Not even physical wounds were enough, so what exactly does it take for this school to enforce the rules? They don't take bullying or the vaping issue going on at their school seriously enough. Students threaten the other students into not telling that they vape with CBD oil on campus because if they do they'll be beat up, cursing at staff... I never knew a middle school could be this bad. I wish I was making this up but I am not. If you can send your child elsewhere and save them from having to experience all of the carelessness this school has to offer.

A student planner is given by the school, however teachers make no effort to ensure that students have written down assignments. Send an email and prepare to wait 3 days minimum for a reply because each teacher has so many students or is busy... I heard many excuses.

If you don't teach children to behave respectfully by making examples of those who are physically and verbally abusive on your campus what kind of message are you sending to the children of the future? Talking about things at an assembly doesn't change anything, but actions will. You say that there will be consequences but there never are and a sit down in the office with the assistant principal doesn't count as punishment.

There was one teacher... on who tried to help my child last year and kept in touch with me somewhat through email. Counselors are terrible and don't keep up with what they promise or offer in the auditorium where you speak to the teachers after getting the report cards. My child needed some extra support and all I asked for was clear communication from the teachers regarding due dates of assignments and when projects or exams were, apparently that's too much to ask.

Multiple incidents involving fighting (and drugs) where the child is not disciplined or leaves for a day. There’s so many bad and inappropriate things going on at this school that it’s too much to mention. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE IF YOU CAN AVOID IT.

My Son has had an IEP throughout his time here at this school three years now. Mr. Wanamaker decided my Son was ready for a challenge and removing him from classes where he was thriving and achieving his personal goals and IEP goals. I addressed that this change did not benefit my son and has put him behind and not understanding where they were at in the new class. no help was ever offered, no tutoring, no communication from "concerned teachers" no response to a concerned parent of the future for a child.
If they fall behind they don't care.
Beware of this school especially if you have a special needs child.

No follow up on kids who are struggling with the work assignments. No intervention unless the parents stay on top of the teachers. The counselor's are a joke. No response when you email them concerning your student. They both should be fired!

I have contacted the teacher's, counselor and principle concerning my child's learning situation. Only two teachers responded. The counselor not even once bothered to return my numerous emails. Very disappointing!!! The child's learning welfare should be the schools first priority!

Like another parent on here, I hadn't been contacted at all about my child's homework situation, items not being turned in,concerns for study etc until it was progress report time. I was told something similar by the office as well. When I tried to contact the teachers by phone, I was only called back by one of them in an "I'm-in-a-hurry" minute conversation,& was essentially told to "send an email" to discuss my concerns. The others NEVER called back. The time spent on an email can be spent on a phone call, but they would rather hide behind emails, each other, and refuse to face parent/student issues face to face or on the phone. EVERYTHING is requested to be dealt with by email. They tell you to "just follow our website" for homework and class work which would be great IF they actually filled it out & had all the info.The only reason I have met ONE teacher is after the lack of response(2 weeks of sending emails)I finally walked into the class after school. They sure nag when they want donations! Schools usually push parents to care about the kids, but this one seems bothered by the concept. Wish it was the same school that got the 2010 & earlier ratings. Won't be back next year.

The school has the capacity to be great. However, on most days there are substitute teachers running classes. This makes it very difficult to carry out the curriculum as it was intended to be delivered...by full-time teachers.
