I am a former student of Temecula Valley High School, and while the school does have some strengths, there are also serious issues that should not be ignored.

On the positive side, the school offers strong educational opportunities for students who actively seek them out. The AP classes are the highlight of the academic experience many of the AP teachers are knowledgeable, supportive, and genuinely care about preparing students for college-level work. The school also has good sports programs and a wide variety of clubs, which gives students plenty of ways to get involved and build community.

However, these positives are overshadowed by major problems within the school culture. Racism is a serious and ongoing issue, and it often feels ignored or minimized by the administration. Incidents are not consistently addressed, and there is a lack of accountability or meaningful action, which creates an unsafe and uncomfortable environment for many students.
Additionally, while the AP program is strong, most non-AP classes lack motivation and support. Many teachers outside of AP courses do not encourage students to succeed or push them to reach their potential, which leads to disengagement. Students who are already struggling often fall further behind instead of being helped.

Statistically, a concerning portion of students do not graduate, which reflects deeper systemic issues within the school. This alone should be enough to prompt serious reflection and change.
Overall, Temecula Valley High School has potential and some excellent programs, but inequality, lack of support, and unaddressed discrimination significantly impact the student experience. Without meaningful reform and stronger accountability, many students will continue to feel overlooked and unsupported

This school has a great selection of classes, both AP and standard. However, the kids at this school are awful-- they're rude, racist, disrespectful, and have no empathy toward others. I suffered through 3 long years here. It was so bad I decided to graduate a year early, which says a lot. I've been in Temecula valley my entire life, and this high school was by far the worst school I attended. It was truly torture. The teachers are the only good quality of this school. If your kid goes here and never complains about it, I can almost guarantee you they are one of the students that made me give this school one star.

There's a tall man who likes to be in front of the school when the students are walking to and from school. He yells at them about his religious and political beliefs. He shames students who may be LGBTQ+ or in LGBTQ+ families. He creates an unsafe environment for the students because he is within inches of them spewing his hatred. Many parents have called the police about him harassing minors, but nothing is done about it. My child doesn't feel safe when he's there and goes out of their way to not see/hear him. He's also been seen in front of other schools in the district including middle schools and ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS.

Well, this school is okay. It has great facilities and great science labs, and a great basketball court. But sometimes they do things that are stupid. For example, senior year of high school is supposed to be light. But they require students to take 5 classes instead of 4. Let's say that you only need 4 classes to graduate, you don't need an extra class that you don't need. But if someone is failing classes or don't have great grades and need the credits then they should. So counselors should give that option depending on your grades or credits. Also, they forced students to go into Algebra Ii before geometry. Chronologically Algebra I and Algebra II make sense but logically and common sense wise it doesn't make sense in any way shape or form. Algebra II is an 11th-grade class geometry is a 10th-grade class. Then a bunch of kids failed that class. So the experiment failed. Also for sports teams instead of cutting people how about having practice squad travel teams or practice squads depending on how well you play on the practice teams you can get upgraded to varsity or Junior varsity. It's like how in professional sports there is the D league the developmental league, the garbage lineup, bench players, and then starters! Depending heavily on their stats and how well they play!

This is one of the best schools in the Temcula Valley. It provides you many courses to take, lots of electives, and new renovated buildings. Teachers and staff are amazing. Students on campus are the kindest group of nature high schoolers you will ever find and are 100% prepared for college. Some people overestimate this school but give it a chance. Teachers here motivate the students and give each and every one of them special attention and help them get to their goal. Students encourage one another and show they truly care about each other. Totally recommend this school because this is the "gateway to your future" GO BEARS!

Our son's IEP team is fabulous! In the past four years my son who has Autism has grown to trust the team and meet most of his goals. This team care a lot about how to help the student. I have seen a lot of IEP teams from different schools who were unwilling to help.

The administration at this school is a joke and really have no idea how to handle situations when it comes to bullies at the school exspeically when the student has special needs!

As a parent with a special needs son it was very difficult. The only team that seemed to care and was on my son side was his IEP team. You would think that the administration would collaborate more with the IEP team when it comes to a child with social emotional issues, Autism etc. to find out how they can all work together to help students with a learning, medical or emotional disability succeed in school. I realize it takes parents and teachers as well to work together but often it seemed one sided. If you have a special needs child that will be coming to this school I highly recommend that you request Mr. Gregory as the special needs case carrier! He is an amazing special needs teacher!

The administrative staff is always difficult and condescending. Some teachers are hard to contact. My kids like the drama department.

This school offers a very rigorous curriculum for those that need it and help for those who struggle. The English department is not as strong as it could be for those with a strong background coming in. It is a safe school with less bullying than the other 2 High Schools in the area and offers many opportunities to join clubs and activities that help make a huge school seem smaller. My son attended all 4 years and felt safe, challenged and confident and is currently attending a top engineering university with great scholarships. I would recommend it over the other 2 Public High Schools in the area.

Cardinal Red with Green Redwood Trees- Standford here we come! We love TVHS for all the wonderful memories and opportunities. Most importantly are the friendships and caring student body. At TVHS we root for the underdog and defend the weak. We make the journey together. I've never seen a better group of kids then the ones my kids bring around the house.

Only one of my children went here before we left California (good riddance). It's an okay school IF your student is already motivated and doing fine academically and socially, as mine was. He would have been fine here, at the worst school in the country, or at the best, so it was a non-issue. However, support for students who struggled socially or academically seemed very poor. The school needs to get its priorities in order, with CA's budget problems having no end in sight. Students frequently lacked places to sit and there were never enough books; the rooms were old and disgusting (half of them in "portables")... yet somehow there was enough money to build a new gym and pool? The only other positive thing I found about this school were a few teachers who truly gave a damn (amidst a sea of those waiting for retirement), and that this school has a surprisingly diverse population and not as much of a "wolfpack" mentality among the students -- no real "in" crowd and no real "out" crowd that my son could determine, and school was not a giant popularity contest as it is in some other high schools.

Well, we have a new principal now, so that's better. Yeah I like our school.. we have a lot of sports, clubs, electives, etc to choose from. Most of the teachers are good, except for some specific ones. It's so crowded this year, which is annoying, but nothing can be done about that. Also I think we need new books, because they are totally falling apart! And the math and english buildings are getting so old now, it's kind of gross. On the other hand, we do have some fun activities like dances and pep rallies. There a lot of classes to choose from, and most people are nice. All in all it's a good school, with some minor problems.
