If your child is academically high-achieving and looking for strong academic support and enrichment, this may not be the best fit. In my experience, the administration appears stretched thin managing a large number of behavioral and academic intervention needs. As a result, students who are excelling academically may not receive the level of challenge, attention, or opportunities they need to reach their full potential. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this school to families seeking a rigorous academic environment.

The best part of this school is the community of students who truly look out for one another and make every day feel welcoming. Whether were collaborating on a difficult project or cheering each other on at events, theres a genuine sense of belonging that makes you feel like you're part of something bigger. Im leaving with lifelong friendships and so much gratitude for the peers who challenged me to be my best self every single day.

Where do I start? This school has been a MASSIVE disappointment. My daughter experienced everything from racism to bullying at this school and shes a light skinned mexican. There are fights off school grounds with the bullies being allowed back to school, your children WILL be assaulted during PE by white students with teachers looking the other way and basically get a "pls dont do that". Your child WILL hear racist slurs such as the N word with teachers agreeing that it's freespeech. Your child WILL experience at least 1 teacher in their school year that CLEARLY does not want to be a teacher and will struggle with explaining the curriculum. There has been school schooting threats, stabbing threats and the students are allowed to come back with open arms. Look into other schools outside of ventura, this town is quickly being called VENTUCKY because of its VERY racist, violent and very MAGA people being emboldened by the district. I've emailed the school COUNTLESS times. I've called and each time im promised some change or nonsense. My child is thankfully graduating this year, but I am warning parents EVERYWHERE - THIS SCHOOL DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR CHILDS WELLBEING IF THEY ARE COLORED. The counselors themselves are great, some teachers are not supportive but overall the school is not a safe environment for people of color and their children.

My daughter has really enjoyed going to Cabrillo. They have a great band program, leadership class & do a good job encouraging students to make honor roll. She is moving onto high school next year & my youngest will be at Cabrillo for the first time. We are looking forward to the same experience for our youngest. Her counselor always met our concerns & the AP was always attentive to any issues.
The front office was always nice on the phone when I called.
I wish there were more sports & clubs offered like at the high school but maybe due to COVID they scaled those activities down?

Unfortunitly all middle schools have one problem or another. My girls got into Ventura Charter and I'm SO GLAD.

Assigning homework with out first giving the kids the tools to at least attempt is simply ridiculous. When they can do the work Its bussy work. Give the kids research to do! Teach them to explore! Not waste important play time.

My son has been treated poorly because of his differences.

Bullied by the band teacher! My son was pushed in band causing him to dent his instrument. The teacher blamed my son and has harassed him to pay...but not the kid who pushed my son.

We came in new to this school with a 6th and 8th Grader. They were welcomed so graciously into the school and my kids love it here. Amazing attitude and great leadership. Thank you Cabrillo!

Suspensions up 50% over last year. NOt as good as it was. Asst principle is ineffective. Kids are ruling the school. It seems kids from nearby failing schools have made this the school of choice.
