We absolutely love this neighborhood school. I have a second grader and a fourth grader, both of whom have attended Lemon Grove since kindergarten. The school has created such a wonderful community for families.

The teachers truly care about the students and are accessible, engaged, and actively involved in their growth. Our boys are thriving academically and personally.

Most importantly, Lemon Grove has provided the social and emotional support they need to build confidence and develop into kind, capable kids.

Additionally, as a working parent, having LPCC after-care attached to the school has been incredibly valuable for our family. The convenience and consistency it provides make a huge difference, and it gives us peace of mind knowing our children are in a safe, supportive environment even after the school day ends.

We feel incredibly grateful to be part of the Lemon Grove community.

I have a 7th grade son who is thriving in the 6-8th grade program at Lemon Grove. The teachers truly know him and help him grow. He has had many opportunities to serve in leader roles and has made sweet friendships with younger students thanks to Phoenix Fridays. He loves going to Maker's Space and staying for leadership after school. This school is clearly a hidden gem!

Both of our sons were homeschooled during covid. Our oldest son decided he wanted to go back to public school for his 8th grade year (24/25 school year). As we got to know the staff in this program we decided to have our youngest son also attend Lemon Grove. This transition would have been so much harder, if not a complete failure had it not been for the staff at Lemon Grove. Lemon Grove is a great school with caring staff.

As a parent of one former middle school student and one current middle school student, I cannot say enough about this amazing program. When looking at middle schools, we wanted a strong academic program, a safe environment, and a program that is up to date with the current educational trends. My middle school graduate transitioned flawlessly into Foothill HS and maintains a 4.0 GPA, has a great group of friends, and a strong sense of self. My current middle schooler is loving the program too. Lemon Grove has smaller class sizes, where the teachers actually get to know and care for their students. They are able to differentiate for students in a way that none of the larger middle schools can do. This strong teacher/student relationship allows for great classroom management and safe peer relationships, all while developing independence through these formative years. The leadership program and cross campus initiatives have allowed both of my children to start to develop their college portfolio while still in middle school. If you are looking for a middle school where your child can thrive, Lemon Grove is it!

Lemon Grove is absolutely fantastic. Talk about a hidden gem! K-8 schools are hard to come by these days and we are so glad our kids get to go to this school. The environment at Lemon Grove is something you really need to experience for yourself. It's calm and nurturing and this is a direct result of the dedication of the principal and the school's long time teachers and staff. Our kids are in junior high there and I couldn't imagine them being at any of the other middle schools in the area. Yes, it's a small school and that might not be for everyone, but the quality of education, the leadership skills and high school readiness they receive in middle school is phenomenal. And the kids are having fun! My 6th grader is excited to go to school everyday (well almost everyday lol), and how many kids, especially in junior high, get to have that experience at this age?

As a parent, if you're quietly dreading what to do as junior high approaches like I was, or if you're an elementary family that is looking for a stable and supportive place for your kids to land and grow, I hope you check it out and will love it as much as we do.

We love this school! Don't be fooled by the low rating on this website, the school is the best thing that has happened for my child academically.

Homework given is age appropriate in content and quantity.

Posted: February 8, 2019

Teachers CARE about these kids! The school is small enough that the teachers k is most of the children before they come into that grade. You can trust the whole staff with your child.

While Principal Hatton is challenged with a low-income, ESL contingency, she is very hands on. She is often seen walking the halls in the morning & visiting classes. She has a clear vision of where she would like to see the school and works very hard to steer students, their families, and the staff toward creating a better environment for all.

My experience at Blanche Reynolds Campus has always been a positive, caring, welcoming campus. Everyone that works there are always so kind and they make you feel good about being there. I remember taking my children to Rainbow Bridge playground when they were younger and we have so many fond memories.

Traditional blanche reynolds has lots of great potential. My kids are happy and most of the teachers are great. There are always some that aren't. There needs to be more parental participation. The more involved the parents the stronger the school. You cant get something from nothing. BR is great overall.

I pulled my daughter from this school half way through the year. Her teacher was horrible! She talked down to the kids and would make fun of them in front of the other students. She was never on time and always had a bad attitude.

I went to Blanche Reynolds from K-5th grade myself and i wouldnt have my child go anywhere else. The community in that area is my favorite and i just love all the neighbors as well. My daughter has struggled with some early trama in her life and with therapy and the help of the teachers and other Blanche Reynolds staff she is now doing great. I am a single mom that works and goes to school full time and i made an effort to volunteer every week i was rather discouraged that not all parents were making the same commitments. The teachers are amazing with my daughter providing extra help when she needs it and keeping me fully informed. I wish there were more teachers out there like them because they made such a difference in my life as well as my daughters. The new principle is great as well...she means buisness and is taking everything head on and i LOVE that. I have great hopes, memories, and beliefs about this school and would never send any of my kids anywhere else. We are lifers!!!

This school is fantastic! At another school I was being pushed to have my son labled ADD by his teacher when I knew that wasn't true - he was just a normal, active little boy who was smart and didn't want to do busywork at his desk when he was done with an assignment - he wanted action! At Blanche Reynolds Open Classroom, he wasn't made to sit still all of the time and yet he still learned a lot, but in his own way. I put my younger son in as well, and his individual needs were also taken care of. I saw the comment from the parent who felt that not all parents participated as much as they should, and my own comment is that people get out of a program like this what they put into it. Life isn't always "equal." (I teach my children that as well.) It's not a parent's place to worry about what other people are doing and trying to make it "fair". People who enjoy working with the kids put in more than their "fair share" and it benefits all of the kids and the parents who like to volunteer as well. If you are only going to "count the minutes" you have to volunteer there, then you and the children are probably not gaining as much from the program anyway.

This school is great. My child is in the "open classroom". It's one of the only K-8 in the area without a waiting list. The teachers are friendly and helpful. Each family donates 2 to 4 hours of their time helping in or around the classroom. The students get variety and small group time with their teacher. Wow!! They make learning fun and go on many field trips.

Pulled my kids out after 2 months. I participated like expected however found that other parents did not live up to their participation required to keep their kids there. In my opinion after spending a lot of time with the kids, they were behind.

Some good teachers, but not much attention paid to the 'whole child' and their individual issues at home. It seems mostly about the numbers and not about how the child gets along on a daily basis.
