The school has a family approach where they are preparing the children that go to school here with real life and the most advanced mathematics, problem solving and critical thinking. I would not be where I was today if it was not for Cedar Wood where when it came to homework the teachers and staff where all a call away to help me.

The teachers here genuinely cared for me always offering me help and most important they were more like a mentor being tough on me and always loving me when I needed it.

The character of CedarWood is impeccable they are open and in the light after all the years that they have been open I do not know when there have been any scandals or anything of such that has come to light. They do not waiver from character and are light bearers for the future with the mascot that is the Lion.

They teachers and staff at this school are leaders in the fact that they do not do this for the money but they do this for advancing the lives of those around them and the students lives they touch. There are doctors, engineers, attorneys, and more that have been influenced right from them. Also the principal has a doctorate in mathematics and obviously could make an extraordinary amount of money in any endeavor but he stays there because he has a genuine love.

The school has taken many strides staying late and bringing on the right staff to help children with learning differences. Always going the extra mile to provide the best education and I even attended CedarWood with a student with learning differences and he was never singled out but we were shown to respect.

The level of bullying is a really low level because of the smaller classroom environment and also because those that are bullied that attend mostly have a change of heart as they learn to be brothers and sisters with others. Bullying cannot be avoided and most of the time the bully is one that is singled out in other environments, and here the bully will grow from that into something much better.

My experience here was amazing looking back because they always looked toward what would be best for my future and they did not back down. I was bad attacking other students when I first came here and failing in my classes. They always kept an open hand taking time out of their off time to take care of me still along with other students. They make the high school a special dynamic because that is where you see the beginning of becoming a leader. You can see this dynamic because you have K-12 and those kindergarten through junior high really do look for leadership from you and is make you grow. A dynamic that is not in most environments. I went into the Marine Corps from CedarWood and this helped with the courage I had entering at that time when I graduated in 2002.

Terrible school. Attended this school about 10 years. While there are some decent qualities, your child would be much better off attending a different private/Christian school. Other Christian schools will actually teach your kids how to face real world scenarios and your child will learn how to better interact with society out of this school.

Some teachers were great and others had no idea what they were teaching. My Biology teacher frequently asked a fellow student to help teach the class because he had no idea what he was doing. Chemistry was worse.

They do their best to instill the fear of God into you... but they wind up raising kids who are afraid to tackle this world and face real world scenarios.

Rule with an iron fist. For a school that prides itself on sharing God's love, the Obornys certainly like to spank children and take away their lunches when they misbehave.

My kid was bullied once and it never happened again in fact the bully and here became friends. They handle everything so well I’m so greatfull.

By God's grace we have made it through. After a lot of counseling my kids have learned to trust teachers again. Now they seek out other kids that have been traumatized to help them. There were some excellent teachers and monitors while we were there but the Oborny's don't pay them so they can't stay.

1-3 hours of homework a night every night is too much, especially for young children (1-2 grade)

Few have college degrees or are licensed. Teaching methods used are very dated (from the 1960s.) and poorly orchestrated. They do not teach new math. At one time the monitor teaching Jr. High math did not understand what he was teaching and told the students just that. He said he didn't even like math.

Children must learn the administrators' way or are labeled poor students. I was told my children were poor learner's and not bright. Away from the CWA, we found out they are actually brilliant and have been recognized as high learner's.

Ceder Wood Christian Academy turned out to be a horrible school in mostly everything they did WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THEIR CURRICULUM. The curriculum is awesome and it really challenges the student body. It appears that the curriculum is a grade above mostly everyone else's. There are also a few teachers at Cedar Wood that really care and show great compassion for the student body. The school is run by Mr. and Mrs. Gene Oborney. I have to say that I have never been less impressed by Christians than I was with these two. These people are cold, punitive and calculating. The Oborney's practice the letter of the law and not the spirit of the law as if they themselves could keep the letter of The law. Gene nor his wife are approachable and it is VERY difficult to discuss legitimate concerns with them. It also appears to our family that once there has been an issue whatsoever, the Oborney's begin to focus more AND single out students thereby leaving redemption an in possibility. Cedar Wood is supposed to be a Christian school, yet I have seen MORE CHRIST like behaviour and more integrity in SOME worldly schools and that is very sad!!!

I was a graduate of this school, and had gone there for 10 years. To say this school fosters fear, sexism, and discrimination is an understatement.

Dress code rules are restrictive and at the discretion of any particular educator without review. Corporal punishment is frequently used on children, and detention punishment results in loss of a meal, which is greatly detrimental to brain function.

More importantly than all of that, is the fact that students are not properly educated at this school. Teachers have absolutely no teaching credentials, and some have not even finished college level higher education. The curriculum does not teach fact-based science, nor does the level of any of the courses prepare students for the rigor of undergraduate education. In fact, the rate of graduation from higher education among CedarWood graduates is tragically low.

If you are thinking of placing your child in a faith-based school, you would be better served by just about any other parochial school in the city. If you want your child to become a missionary who can barely perform math, read literature or engage in critical thinking, this place is for you. But then again, if that's your goal, you're likely better off removing your child from any schooling all together. This place is a tragic excuse for a school.

Bullying happens often and is not dealt with. Even when bullying is reported, students committing it are not given proper disciplinary action if they are full/regularly paying customers.

This school is thoroughly ill prepared for students with any kind of learning difference, often encouraging parents & students to pray for miracles instead of finding useful strategies for growth.

Leadership at the school is nepotistic with only children of the founding family in leadership positions the entirety of the time they attended. Leadership positions are given to students based on allegiance, not on critical thought.
