Children's Garden Montessori School

Our children have had the amazing opportunity to attend this wonderful school for the last two years. I strongly disagree with the prior comment about large class size and no "messy" activities. The largest class does consist of 24 students for three full time teachers. Often times there are "floating" teachers and parent volunteers that assist, but it is still an 8 to 1 ratio that is far better than many other preschools. As for the "messy" activities, I have seen an abundance of amazing activities such as shaving cream painting with the toddler class and gingerbread house decoration with the older students. All of the teachers are kind, compassionate and deeply care about each of their students. I have never seen such a tight knit group of parents, students and teachers; all working toward the common goal of raising independent, thoughtful, creative and intelligent children. I cannot give this school a more glowing recommendation and I am so thankful that my children have the opportunity to spend their young years at the Children's Garden!!

Large class sizes (24+) in very small classrooms with children of differing ages (3, 4 & 5 year olds together, which is the Montessori approach) where the 5 year olds get most of the attention. Some teachers are warm, others are downright surly. Outdoor play area is too small due to its location in the posh Cherry Creek neighborhood. In the classroom, the focus on independent choices of Montessori toys is to a detriment with very little "messy" / tactile play. Grandparents Day was a disaster with no guidance about the program or welcome to the visitors. Although this school has a reputation for being excellent, toddlers and kids can go elsewhere for socialization skills and fun. Pass on this one.
