Montview is a really wonderful and caring environment for preschoolers and Kindergarten. The teachers are experienced and so professional, while also being incredibly warm and attentive. The physical space indoors and outdoors is nothing short of stunning and so wonderful for creative adventures. We have just adored our experience at Montview and can't wait for our younger children to attend!

Montview Preschool is an enchanted place for young children to explore and grow. We love the play-based approach which allows the youngest ones to develop social-emotional skills. But each teacher thoughtfully plans the play with future academic standards in mind. We are so thankful for the loving staff and for the wonderful community of families at this gem of a school! The facilities are bright and beautiful and inspire great creativity. I wish I could go to school here and in fact, I always look forward to the parent helping days!

We had very high hopes for Montview Preschool. I will say our son does enjoy his time here. However, this school is not even remotely play based. Play based involves finding children's interest and creating play based upon those interests. In our son's class, they set up 4 activities in the classroom which just rotate between about 15 different things throughout the year. There is little to no engagement with the students which is also not play based learning. His teacher seems annoyed with parents and overall doesn't enjoy "dealing" with them. We very much wanted to be involved in our son's education but feel like at Montview they are constantly asking for money and donations. Helping days don't make you feel very involved, beyond getting to know each of the kids in the class. The teachers don't involve the parents beyond cleaning up and setting up.

Our son is extremely interested in learning and often seeks out learning at home (reading, writing, math, counting, etc.) At school though he has mentioned he asks for help with things and his teachers say no. On helping days it's very obvious this isn't play based learning it's simply super fun day care. His teachers aren't even aware he can write, count beyond 16, sound out words or that he enjoys inventing and creating.

One of the very few schools that not only understands what it takes to create a successful and positive early childhood education experience, but demonstrates it in everything that they do here. My 4 year old is THRIVING here. He WANTS to go to school, even on days that he doesn't have school. (This was not the case last year at a different preschool.) As an educator, experienced in early childhood and elementary schools, I have been impressed with this school from the moment I first read about their philosophy on their website, to touring the school and seeing it in-person, to now having my child go to this school and seeing the positive impact that it is making on him and nurturing his love for learning and play.

Not only have I been an educator for over 12 years, but I also wrote my Master's degree thesis on the importance of play. For those that want to learn more about why play is so important for children, check out the books: Einstein Never Used Flash Cards and Last Child in the Woods.

To then have a child 4 years after writing my thesis and 4 years after that, find a school that actually understands, embraces, and models this essential part of childhood is so gratifying.

My son especially loves when it is our "helping day" in the classroom and I love it too. I get to be a part of his learning, curiosity, and observe how he interacts with others and the world around him... this is so important to his growth and development in knowing how to best support and guide my child at home.

The teachers are kind and patient. They create some very imaginative activities that do appear to keep the kids engaged. However, play-based curriculum seems to mean entirely play and during my volunteering hours I've seen no actual academics. No counting, no letters, no formal instruction of any kind. So if you are looking for at least some traditional education this school is not for you. It is not play-based, it is play, play, play.

Montview claims to value racial and economic diversity. Wanting our son to be exposed to people other than people like us, we checked it out and thought it would be a good environment for our son to interact with other children. Big mistake. White privilege is bleeding out of this school. There is absolutely no diversity in my son's class. My husband just found himself in a conversation with another parent who didn't support the fundraising efforts of the school. Her reason? She doesn't think families who can't afford private school should be able to attend private school. Wow. No way do I want my son exposed to that level of prejudice. We are white, do not receive tuition assistance and still feel isolated from the other families. I can't imagine what the experience is like for families who are from more diverse backgrounds. My son enjoys going to school, probably because he allowed to do anything he wants. Another family in the class left part way through the school because the level of learning there is minimal. I would agree. The Director of the school is incredibly patronizing. I deeply regret choosing Montview.

Montview is a wonderful school and an anchor in the Park Hill/Stapleton communities. Our daughters thrived at this school and I would recommend it to anyone.

Our son attended the school several years ago. There was poor communication between his teacher and the director. The classroom was disorganized and chaotic and the teacher shamed our son when he did not got overwhelmed. He has SPD and this is not a school that works well with children who don't "fit the mold."

Every day I drop my daughter off at Montview I feel incredibly blessed that she has such a wonderful preschool experience. On days when she doesn't have school, she's so disappointed! She LOVES her teachers and has made wonderful friends with her classmates. I couldn't have hoped for a better school! In a matter of a couple of months, her growth has been phenomenal.

We love this school. This school is not for 'flashcard drilling' kind of parents. And if you're looking for a school that pushes technology for pre-schoolers, look elsewhere. Their philosophy is about learning through playing, which is refreshing given that the children are mostly 3 & 4 yr olds! Our daughter has become very socially adept in the 7 months she has attended Montview. The icing on the cake is that she is almost 4 and is writing out/spelling short words already!

We had a very negative experience at this school. The leadership has difficultyn working with families with children who don't fit a certain mold. There was very little cooperation/flexibility in working with our family to help our child succeed. In fact, we felt that they shamed our child for having certain struggles. We stuck it out for a year and regret it. It was a very negative experience all around.

We could not have asked for a more rewarding preschool experience for our son. We have been extremely impressed with the vision of the administration, the quality and dedication of the teachers, and the high degree of parental involvement in the school. My son loves going to school each day and could not be happier with his teachers and playmates. Each day he brings home inspiring art projects, sings new songs, and can't wait to tell us all about the latest unit he has been learning about, whether it's firefighters, fall leaves, space exploration, or sea creatures. Montview's 'play-based' philosophy has fostered his love of learning, creativity, and respect for his peers. I would highly recommend Montview Preschool to any parent who is looking for a loving, enriching environment for their preschooler.
