Our daughter has been at GALS for 1.5 years, has made lots of friends, has matured a ton emotionally, has changed from being a shy, quiet girl into an amazing, confident young woman who speaks up for herself. Focus on physical activity & emotional health and a lot of other stuff takes care of itself. We love GALS!

If you are looking for an athletic based school that empowers girls - look somewhere else. I was sold on their marketing I suppose. The school is just full of misfit girls and those who are not are almost encouraged to be. The first weeks of school my daughter was being pressured by a teacher in class to assign herself pronouns and wear them on a name tag. HELLO - they are children, let them figure it out with time, on their own and without having to announce it to a classroom of people they just met. It’s almost perverse that this is even a subject that was covered. Aside from that, there are groups of children wearing tails and acting like they can’t use their fingers because they identify as having claws. I haven’t toured any other middle schools in the area where I see this allowed. From speaking with other parents it seems most 6th graders are there because they didn’t get into their first choice school which is why the number of students drops drastically for 7th grade. Academics don’t seem serious because they’re mostly interested in making it a playful environment. Athleticism? Hardly. They throw in some “movement” throughout the day and I guess they can be called an athletic school. The team sports are minimal compared to other middle schools in the area. Hell, why are they even including “girls” in the name of the school? They accept anyone of any gender. Overall, if you’re child struggles fitting in, identifies “differently” or as a creature then sure, this might be a good fit for you.

this school is absolutely terrible. if you want your kid to feel like an outsider then send your kid here if they want to feel as if they are constantly alone. this schools sucks and only has a few good teachers. goodluck to anyone that goes here.

I went to this school myself and i would recommended it if you want your child to be welcomed as who they are. People at this school can be kind and some are just yt rude people who will hate on you. But i will say the teachers here are very nice (unless you get a teacher who that’s old and scary). The classrooms are clean and they create a good environment for students to learn in. But i didn’t necessarily LOVE the school. I had an incident happen where someone hit me, and the teachers did nothing, no justice to me because i’m latina/hispanic. If i was white it would have been completely different. This school is all about diversity but actions speak louder than words.

I am so glad we choose GALS. Especially with the Spring 2020 changes and rushing online. GALS has been able to build a model that supports families, students and teachers. With all the ups and downs in the world I am glad we are at a smaller middle school that I know will find a way to continue to support my child.

The teachers are have the bandwidth to reach all students and are able to develop meaningful relationships with their students. I like that my child is seen and teachers are able to develop her strengths.

One of the reasons we picked GALS is because they focus not just on academics but on building strong girls. This is huge for middle school! The students, and the school, have built in outlets to allow students to work through all the ups and downs of middle school.

The leadership is amazing! The leadership is able to manage the needs of a diverse population, in a way that recognizes everyone, and works to make the education equitable.

GALS is out of this world and an awesome place! Middle school is such a milestone and such a critical time for girls, and GALS provides their students with everything they need to succeed, to build solid friendship, and to value their individuality. The school work is rigorous, but the GALS series is where the magic happens. It's a 3-year course (which they attend daily) designed to make students "more aware of their individual and community identity, the skills to navigate through challenges and decisions successfully, and empowerment to drive them." Choosing GALS for our daughter was one of the best decisions we've ever made! And their transition to remote learning has been thoughtful and seamless. We are so thankful to be part of this community!

Homework is designed to meet the student's needs as opposed to being just busy work. They have a thoughtful approach and are flexible as needed.

The teachers at GALS are by far some of the best in the business of learning. They are smart, create and most importantly, compassionate. They know, value and listen to every student in the building. They've built a community of learning, caring and empowerment.

YES -- my daughter is gifted and they've effectively addressed her needs, but that's what they do. Their inclusion program addresses the needs of all their students whether it's SPED or a learning difference or HGT … they have your student covered. And it's not just lip service. It's effective, hands on and game changing.

This is an incredible experience for the girls. Not only do they have outstanding academics, they focus on the whole child (e.g., social, emotional and physical), which is so important at this age. A wonderful school.

Great school for supporting girls and their development. Only complaint is the constant political statements by the teachers (not always discussions-sometimes its just complaining), and the GALS class where the girls have to discuss their feelings is also irritating to my daughter. I'd prefer that time be used for more learning.

Middle school has some great projects and they have a no homework on weekends view. Middle School can become very crazy times for kids. Letting them have time on weekends to do the things they enjoy keeps them engaged during the week.

The school has a mediation program and works with students to become their own advocates so they learn how to get their needs met, at the same time be respectful of others and their needs and opinions.

I have my second daughter in this school. I understand that an all girls school does not meet everyone's needs, but it will meet around 51% of the populations needs. :)
