I was deeply saddened to witness a school representative loudly degrade a parent for misunderstanding school policy. It was 8:12 AM, and the father opted to wait in the hallway with his two children until 8:20 AM. As soon as the father was out of earshot, the representative called an administrator and immediately referred to the parent as an offensive expletive. The security guard who was in the office and I both looked at the representative in shock.

The representative had ample opportunity to educate the parent, but instead chose to judge them. I would have reported this incident, but as mentioned, an administrator was actively engaged in this conversation. School administration apparently enables an environment where this behavior is tolerated.

*See previous receive for Brookland campus experience*

Moving on to east end, during the year that I decided to transfer my daughter this campus was just beginning and Alex (who was phenomenal as a the VP at Brookland) was taking over as principal. My son is apart of the founding class of this school and Alex truly listened to my concerns and what I spoke about with my experience at Brookland. He truly took heed to embed that into the foundation so that the same mistakes wouldn’t be made here. Although shut down by the pandemic, this campus did So much to keep the joy of Montessori in our children hearts. My son guide is SO PHENOMENAL! He was able to build in routines and maintain classroom engagement and management through a computer screen. This campus is more diverse especially staff wide which is another thing I appreciate. That amazing primary guide I spoke about with my daughter is now apart of the admin team at this campus. During this current year my son struggled with learning loss and his guide and reading specialist partnered with me and together my son made substantial gains that I am forever grateful for! He went from identifying only 3 of 26 alphabets in the fall to full on reading by MARCH! The only thing that is alarming to me is the amount of staff changes that happen on this campus (the founding principal is gone).. My son is very introverted and thrive off Relationship building…he is moving into the elementary plane and I am on the fence about transferring him into a traditional school setting. I am fearful that the same mistakes Will repeat themselves and I don’t want to risk this with him.

Overall all Lee Montessori has been a great school for my two children (I have a rising prek-3 that I’m on the fence about as well). The East End campus is on the rise but has been kind of challenged to plant their feet because of the pandemic…my hope is to continue to see the growth. I think teachers need more training around tracking and differentiating student
Success at the elementary level, I do appreciate the authentic Montessori experience but their are definitely some Areas that need growth. I hope it can Maintain equity for both campuses. I find that East End is better at providing certain supports but I believe East End serves a different population from Brookland and I hope
The school is prepared to wrap around and pitch in to support!

Terrible administration. They care about everything except education children. Bad communication and if you'd rather your child learn more about social equity at the expense of learning basic math and reading this is the place for you. Otherwise expect to teach your children all the basics at home because they will not be learning the fundamentals at school. The teachers are really nice and certain kids tend to thrive, but if your child needs an ounce of structure to learn they will be left behind. We have sent our kids to school here for three years and very much regret the experience.

My son has been attending Lee since its founding five years ago. He is thriving academically and socially. The teachers truly care about his development, along with meeting his needs and the needs of every child in their classroom.

Lee is a spectacular learning environment. The teachers and staff are wonderful. Other reviews on this site seem to have not understood what a Montessori program is.

Their staff is not educated to handle students with disabilities.

The school is ill equiped to deal with children. They are unorganized, lack communication and basic common sense. The staff is more concerned with funding and enrollment than they are keeping children safe. The after care staff lacks any type of mediating or monitoring skills. I would not reccomend to send a pet to this school, let alone a child.

My son has been in the Primary program at Lee Montessori for the past year and a half - it has been a great experience for our family. The teaching staff is incredibly talented and deeply dedicated to meeting the individual needs of each child. The school's support staff is also a pleasure to work with. Lee also has a great family community, including a growing and active Family Teacher Association that has helped to implement a school garden and library. The school does not yet have a permanent location, the aftercare program (provided by a 3rd party vendor) goes through ups and downs, and there are occasional lapses in school-to-parent communications, but overall we've been very, very pleased with our experience and thrilled to see our son happy and learning.
